My room needs a makeover - it’s got natural sunlight most of the day.

the couch is grey and my accent colours are forest green.

i don’t want it looking to clinical, nor do i want it too dark.

oh, and the floor is laminate - a kind of light oak.

Please can you suggest colours that you’ve tried and liked - ideally dulux, but I’m open to others.

I have a dark forest green wall, Dulux blush pink walls and ceiling. It looks good.

NeedToKnow101 · 16/06/2024 10:04

Oh and the next Dulux pink up, I think it's called setting plaster or something. That would look good too. Blush pink just looks like a neutral in most lights, and occasionally a deeper pink which is more pleasing to the eye in my opinion. Oh my sofa is grey too.

Do you like this? (Sorry the dog jumps in everytime I'm taking a photo) I think it would nice with green accents. Obviously my sofa is grey like yours the paint is natural hessian by dulux.

Ha! My dog does this!

Farrow and Ball Dead Salmon? It’s a warm pinkish-beige.

Do you already own the forest green accessories? I mean, is that part set in stone?

What a handsome dog!

We have Egyptian cotton all over our house and it's a warm cosy grey as opposed to a cold industrial one.

OliveTheaBough · 16/06/2024 11:04

Yes, already own the green.

We have farrow and ball 'lamp room grey' in one of our rooms, I find it's almost pale green in some lights. Their French Grey is a similar one. I'd suggest looking at f&b greys, they have a lot which have other tones rather than a flat grey.

Sunnytwobridges · 16/06/2024 12:08

Sometimes people on here are so mean. I love love grey, way before it became trendy. I just had my bathroom redone in grey and it’s so calming.

I want to paint my bedroom and I keep coming back to grey/grayish blue. My DD told me it’s my house I can paint it any color I want that makes me happy.

so OP paint it grey, if you like. YOU have to live there and as long as you like it who cares if others don’t.

That's lovely and your dog is gorgeous.

troppibambini6 · 16/06/2024 12:50

Thank you for the dog love! He's an 18month old staffy rescue called Blue. He's an amazing dog but can clear a room with his farts. 😆

Another option OP that's lovely (think someone else mentioned earlier) is Egyptian cotton I had in my old house and it looked great everyone always asked what it was. For some reason it didn't look great in the rooms I wanted it for in that a house which is why I went for the natural hessian. I think it's a warmer beigey grey with more pinky tones than Egyptian cotton.

AnchorWHAT · 16/06/2024 12:52

I would go pale sagey green or rich cream colour.

GeniusLevelJaffaCake · 16/06/2024 13:02

Try the Dulux Visualiser app. It's great and helped me choose a fantastic colour for my hall.

ShiftySquirrel · 16/06/2024 13:30

We have Egyptian Cotton and like it. I'd call it a greige which sounds much worse than it looks. It's a good neutral.

When we downsize, we'll paint the new house full of colour, but that's for the next move, and neutrals work well for now.

fieldsofbutterflies · 16/06/2024 13:42

Never ask about grey paint on MN, you'll be told you have no imagination and that your home looks like a doctors office Grin

We have "Soft Steel" by Crown in our living room - but only on two walls, the other two are a deep burgundy colour.

I have B&Q Hempstead in my kitchen and bathroom (only rooms I've decorated) it's a grey with a slightly green undertone. They have another with a slight pink undertone which I was thinking of doing in my sitting room (but can't be arsed to decorate).

I've always liked neutrals and greys long before the crushed velvet brigade caught on.

Happy24624 · 16/06/2024 20:28

Another one for Rock Salt, changes colour during the day as the light changes, definitely not dull.

AntigoneFunn · 16/06/2024 20:30

What about Farrow and Ball Parma Grey? It's a light blimey grey, very calming.

I mean, not actual F&B, get the Valspar lads to mix you up a copy of it. Grin

PrincessofWells · 16/06/2024 20:31

White. Pure white.

EmmaStone · 16/06/2024 20:49

We've got F&B Parma Gray in our living room - it's blue.

F&B Mizzle is a gorgeous soft sagey green (and if you like it Cromarty is similar).

In our old house, we used Little Greene French Grey (light) in our hallway, which had light oak floors.

Our kitchen cupboards are painted F&B Pavilion Grey (and we've got terracotta floors which work quite well, if you do consider terracotta).

But when I'm not sure, I go for Dulux Timeless (beautiful soft white), which has served me brilliantly in different houses and rooms.

And I think a pale pink would be really lovely with a grey sofa and dark green accents.
