DS took me to a posh cafe today i know I'm being petty but it pissed me of.

A cafe with no mushrooms. I love mushrooms wtf. I got a so called poached egg I love them to. The only thing that was ok was the toast and even that they didn't cut it. I couldn't complain because DS would get embarrassed. So I just have to moan here 🤣

Here is a picture of my poached egg thats not a poached egg.

It's an egg thread not a vegan thread.

Says who? Why is a poaching pan called a poaching pan if it's not for poaching eggs?

I hate the watery, runny eggs cooked in water things.

It's a coddled egg. I don't know why they call it a poaching pan . Maybe it sells. But if you like it that's fine .

I very rarely eat eggs and almost never if I'm not the one cooking it .
I can only eat really really well cooked eggs .
No movement at all . And not a hint of runniness in the white . <boak>

Having to convince someone in a resturant that I want my egg to bounce and get the are you mad woman ? look but the customer is always right , yeah?

BobbyBiscuits · 14/06/2024 19:09

It looks like it's not hot? The middle bit is ok for me personally but the white looks so solid and rubbery. I only go to one caff, old school Italian place, grubby AF but they do the best fry ups. Mushrooms coming out your ears too!

It was crap. I like them runny or semi runny. But not like the one I had was served. Ds said it was dry . May as well had been a hard boiled egg.

Yes I have my favorite cafe to. Its 40 odd mins from my house but close to my kids school so i often go after dropping the kids at school.

It's probably a me thing. But I always find places that are posh. Just taste crap

I really want a coddled egg now

heldinadream · 14/06/2024 16:38

It's not a boiled egg. It's not a fried egg. It's defo not a scrambled egg or an omelette.
It looks like a poached egg to me OP.

It’s not.

Why is your DH so wet?

Ironic her DH is wet but her egg is not wet enough 😂

Silvers11 · 14/06/2024 19:29

And I am off to have a couple of poached eggs for my tea!! Put me in the mood for them ( but decent ones)

BobbyBiscuits · 14/06/2024 19:44

@Easygoing24 I fully agree. Caff food shouldn't and couldn't be posh. It spoils the whole flavour, vibe, experience. You want to be shoulder to shoulder with high Vis wearing workmen, plates piled high with glistening sausages, bacon and chips! Plastic booths, yellowing walls. I always get chips from the caff. Fat ones. Lol. I'm craving it now!
I hope you get to go to your favourite place again soon!

willWillSmithsmith · 14/06/2024 20:24

Forget posh cafes, you can’t beat a greasy spoon for proper eggs and they’ll always have mushrooms!

Why is your DH so wet?

He’s her son. My son hates me complaining but I still do it. I’m not sure if I’d do it if was his treat and he asked me not to though.

How much was it OP?

I had 2 fake poached eggs. 2 toast and coke

I hate "proper" pached egg - all the flobbedy bits spiralling off the white...and as for the 'tiny splash' of vinegar in the water to keep the white together - who the feck wants vinègar with egg???????

You use white vinegar. You can't taste it. I think the fresher the egg the better .I find they are better if egg is from the fridge

It only counts as poached if the egg has been in water - not in a silicone mould in water.

We used to have an egg poacher.. a pan with an insert with four little cups for eggs.

PrimalLass · 14/06/2024 23:22

Were the eggs in water? I use the poachie bags and they work well.
