What is this pain

When this goes away I’ll never moan again.

Started about 3 this afternoon. Few niggly stomach pains which have since turned into me needing to curl up in a ball due the amount of pain I’m in. Kind of feels like my insides are turning inside out. It seems to be coming in waves. The pain is at the top of my stomach. Also getting the pain in my upper back. I don’t feel sick and haven’t been sick so I really don’t think it’s a bug. The pain in constant but definitely worsens when I move or walk

It was that bad before that I phoned dp crying because I was in that much pain and I didn’t know what it was and was scared. It’s certainly something I’ve never experienced before. Worst pain ever. Really hoping I get some sleep😕

Why have you not gone to A&E already???
It may be pancreatitis or something- listen to your body and get it checked ASAP

You have to get proper medical attention tonight OP. Sounds like you need a scan so it's an A&E job.

summerOnes · 13/06/2024 22:03

Oh gosh really😳 luckily I don’t live far from a&e and dp is home now so I’ll go.

I didn’t even think to go earlier as I thought it was just a dodgy stomach or something but the pain I keep getting surely isn’t normal for just that. Thanks everyone

Make sure you take water, snacks, phone charger, a good book, a warm jumper etc. as you could have a long wait.

Lillieloola · 13/06/2024 22:08

Try and avoid eating and drinking in AE . The Drs might want you nil by mouth incase you need theatre .

cocktails4two · 13/06/2024 22:10

Possible gallstones. Worst pain imaginable. Wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.

Lovemybunnies · 13/06/2024 22:11

That sounds like the position of liver pain I had when I had preeclampsia. I hope you are seen quickly and get help.

SofaSpuds · 13/06/2024 22:15

Sounds like the pain I had with gallstones OP, hope you're feeling better soon.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 13/06/2024 22:17

Try to convince the. To give you an ultrasound of gallbladder if you can. They are unlikely to get it taken out on an emergency basis unless you have a raging infection today, but if you can get an US that will be a definitive yes or no to the 'do I have gallstones' question, you won't then end up on a many months waiting list just for confirmation before going on the many months waiting list for removal.

Another vote for gallstones I'm afraid. Hideous pain Sad

MeinKraft · 13/06/2024 22:30

Sounds like a gallstone is on the move possibly.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 13/06/2024 22:32

Another vote for gallstones but could be pancreatitis. Both cause horrible pain.
Hope you’re in A&E and don’t have too long a wait.

gamerchick · 13/06/2024 22:32

Sounds like gallstones. I personally didn't rush to a&e. But you need to see your GP for a scan and to get the bugger out

Yellowcakestand · 13/06/2024 22:36

Does sound like gallstones. I was on the floor under the table at my mother's literally curled up in a ball unable to move. Awful awful pain

Casade · 13/06/2024 22:43

That's strange. I had similar two nights ago. Pain in stomach got gradually worse overnight until it woke me up it was that bad (similar to labour pains). I ended up shivering so much it woke my partner up and I was crying as I was scared. I actually couldn't stop shivering/shaking and was sweating. I eventually was sick lots of times and had to sleep downstairs which was a lot cooler as my temperature was high. Still don't feel fully better after sickness stopped and the pain in my stomach is still there but much much less!
Seek some medical attention and I hope you feel better

You should see a doctor, it sounds like an infection.

I had a few episodes of what I thought was back pain caused by a job where I sit (with bad posture) for way too long every day.

Then one night I was in agony, culminating in lots of vomiting. I eventually made my way to A&E, had a temperature and blood tests showed infection markers, had a CT scan because they were thinking kidney stones, kidney was fine but they caught a glimpse of my gallbladder and saw stones so I was taken for an ultrasound.

Was given morphine for the agony, and IV antibiotics and admitted.

3 days of IV antibiotics and sooooooo much morphine and I was no better so was taken into surgery.

One very very large stone had completely blocked the bile duct and my gallbladder was rotting, they had to flush out the whole area because it had gone all gunky. Ended up with a drain fitted and having to stay in hospital for another couple of days on more antibiotics. Was also sent home with a 10 day course of mahoosive horse pill sized antibiotics for good measure.

CalicoPusscat · 13/06/2024 23:42

@summerOnes are you in A&E? Hope it's not busy.

summerOnes · 14/06/2024 00:11

Yeah I’m in a&e now waiting. Had to go to the toilets to be sick so now I’m wondering if it’s a bug? Feel dreadful

Hope you've been seen by now! Our A&E really varies. Once it was only 20 minutes and I nearly fell off my chair with surprise when called

Nat6999 · 14/06/2024 01:51

It sounds exactly like my first gallstone attack. I had an entirely normal evening, just before bedtime I realised I was hungry, made bread & jam, ate it & 20 minutes later was on my hands & knees mooing like I was in labour. Spent 2 hours like that until I was sick & then the pain subsided.

Is the pain subsiding now you have been sick? Sounds like classic gallstone pain.

ALongHardWinter · 14/06/2024 02:15

Another vote for gallstones/gall bladder inflammation.
