Blimey, She’s not letting him off the hook at all. Cut above the rest of the interviewers IMO.

State schools really ate on the bones of their bottoms.

State schools really ate on the bones of their bottoms.

And adding more to the state system won’t magic maths teachers up from nowhere.

I suppose it could have been worse. We could have had Kay Burley instead of Beth.

Both awful interviewers but Kay’s condescending style just tips her to be the worse of the two

Someone needs to ask where he is going to get all these Maths teachers and Dentist from?

Netaporter · 12/06/2024 20:10

Ooh. ‘I don’t use private HC’last week….

This week ‘Yes I use a private dentist’

Now the audience is taking over from Beth.

Robot is spot on. Hence the Theresa May comparison.

She's a lamb.

I was listening to Tom Sarwbrick earlier on LBC.

Hell have no fury like a disaffected Tory!

I think you are being very disingenuous. Private dentistry is much more common than private healthcare

Many people of all wage brackets pay for dentists, mostly because it’s the only choice

Here we go…. The private school question.

Is no one going to point out that, even if he can recruit 6500 new teachers, there are 25,000 schools? That’s one quarter of a teacher per school. To suggest that this is going to transform schools is beyond ridiculous.

My dentist does both NHS and private treatment.

Certain things cannot be done on the NHS so if you have the money you pay for it privately. If you don't you don't get it done.

The point of the crappy targets is to make the politicians pull their fingers out.

This is why Blair's government made these commitments and other governments followed.

NashvilleQueen · 12/06/2024 20:13

@Netaporter I do hope you're as keen for Beth to skewer Sunak for balance!

thefoolorg · 12/06/2024 20:13

i feel most people pay for dentists as there are no nhs dentists. For those can afford it, it’s no choice really unlike hospital based treatment

We can't afford to replace teachers that have left. So actually having money for staff would be a big one on pupil outcomes and retention.

Not really. The point made last week was ‘if your family member was desperate would you use PHC’? Answer no.

Private dentistry is only on the up because of Labour’s revamp of the NHS dentistry contacts. The complete opposite of the revamp of the GP’s contracts and only encouraged dentist to come to the conclusion going private was the only way forward. They reaped what they sowed.

And its nearly £30 for a checkup on the NHS.

Greenbather · 12/06/2024 20:15

Most adults have to pay for dental treatment don't they?

As a Labour supporter I'm happy with Keir's performance and don't think BR has got one over on him as I'm sure was her intention.

Will be interesting to see how she treats Rishi, she always comes across as a Tory so no doubt will be easier on him.

to be fair the last week question was a bit different, it was about surgery but I agree that he (and all of them) should be absolutely clear.
