Blimey! John Lewis , what happened?

I had to return an item today. I was one day over the 30 days, a telling off from the assistant who said " On this occasion I'll allow it".
The cafe! 6 people doing nothing, chatting, one poor woman collecting trays and washing up. I ordered 2 things, they were wrong. The tray was wet, the knife was dirty.
I have every sympathy for people on their feet all day btw.

So the personal shopper actually told you to return the item to one of the personal shoppers team ? instead you chose to return your late item to a normal till / customer services.
one day / one week / one month / one year - so what, you were late.

Thank you so much John Lewis for refunding my late item, what a good customer service you received !

wheresthebigcarrot · 13/06/2024 17:51

@Blackcats7 it absolutely did not happen. Bare faced lie.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 13/06/2024 17:54

Funny because I saw pages posted in a thread in the feminism board.

No, thats not what I said. The PS said , " here are your things, here is your receipt. Its valid for 30 days. If you go over the 30 days, don't worry, find one of us"

My error was on day 31, I go to a till. The assistant was curt, the cafe experince wasn't good.

I very much hope that is clear now. Thanks.

' find one of us" ' so she didn't mean find a personal shopper ?

eggplant16 · 13/06/2024 17:59

We were having the conversation in the PS area with another PS who was helping pack. A reasonable assumption perhaps?

OP posts:
OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 13/06/2024 18:03

so based on your ' assumption ' she did mean find a personal shopper if you are going to be late with your return ?

and you chose not to, and went to a till or customer services ?

eggplant16 · 13/06/2024 18:13

Bingo ! You got it! I made an error!

Well done you.

Exactly ! so as I said ' Thank you John Lewis for the excellent customer service '

shame about the cafe, but I am sure you dealt with the wrong order etc.

But it wasn’t excellent customer service was it? The cashier was condescending to the OP.

I dealt with a wet tray, they were all wet, a dirty knife, the wrong order and assistants chatting while one poor person did everything.

It was disappointing.

That's the one, @TheRavenKing . There was also an interview with a young man wearing just a fetish harness instead of a shirt who worked in the daycare (!). There was a separate thread about him that went up in smoke.

@eggplant16 and @wheresthebigcarrot are denying the whole thing for reasons known only to them.

I'm not denying it? I'm not familiar with these publications but the contect looks troubleing and irrelevant.

There's no daycare at John Lewis. It was an internal publication. It had no parenting advice within. So yeah. Complete nonsense.

He didn't work in daycare. He worked in the nursery dept at JL i.e. advising new parents which baby equipment to buy etc.

CheeseSandwichRiskAssessment · 14/06/2024 17:24

Perhaps whereathebigcareot is in JLs legal department and doing damage control, and the same person who had the thread on the guy deleted.

Here is the man in question

I feel sorry for their staff who are usually lovely, as they are being assailed by EDI initiatives, trans ideology etc (see thread about their staff magazine recommending breast binders). Clearly the management care more about that than actually selling goods.

"Using a chestbinder is always safer than the alternative" What? Surely the alternative is...not wearing a chest binder?
