The name of of a coffee shop I walk past daily.

Brilliantly clever fun play on words, or somewhere you'd avoid?

It's always very busy and according to colleagues serves excellent coffee.

Avoid. Same with any venue with 'Dirty' in the name.

Absolutely this

HamBagelNoCheese · 08/06/2024 08:55

I can't say that I'm that sensitive that I'd be offended by it. I'd far rather support a decent independent local business that serves decent coffee, than a massive global one that serves average coffee. I guess I'm in a fortunate position of being able to do that without getting my knickers in a twist.

As an aside, we have an unwritten rule at work which is "fuckoffee before coffee" - don't go badgering or making your requests of your colleagues until at least 9.30 when they're in, set up and at least one coffee down!

Doveyouknow · 08/06/2024 08:56

I live near one and I can't say the kids ever noticed the name until they were old enough to know the swear word. The logo isn't the easiest to read. I agree it's not the classiest name though the coffee is good so I can forgive them.

shrunkenhead · 08/06/2024 08:58

F'coffee would be funnier

SuePreemly · 08/06/2024 09:02

Well I mean I suppose the marketing strategy is pretty good seeing as it's made it's way onto here.
Agree F'Coffee is wittier though.

JustPleachy · 08/06/2024 09:02

Teenage edgelord grew up and stared a business.

shrunkenhead · 08/06/2024 08:58

F'coffee would be funnier

I love decent thought into names like this, the name I other op does not offend me but seems lazy

And as for other names if it sounds gross I am not ordering it

Witty funny showing some originality go for it

GameOfJones · 08/06/2024 09:46

I don't find it particularly offensive, I just don't think it's particularly witty or clever. I would assume the owners think they are funnier than they actually are.

OneRedSandal · 08/06/2024 09:52

I like it! Impressed they got planning permission for it.

There are loads of souvlaki places in Greece with the name 'Meating Point'. That one makes me feel a bit sick.

ferntwist · 08/06/2024 09:53

Gross. I’d avoid too

Momstermunch · 08/06/2024 09:54

mewkins · 08/06/2024 08:53

Agreed! I love a good pun, but this is shit!

This, really.

It's also a bit try hard - putting the word fuck in their name to be all edgy and controversial. I'd find that a bit cringy

Momstermunch · 08/06/2024 09:55

Oops, quoted the wrong quote - but I don't think it's clever or funny word play. The word fuck doesn't bother or offend me. I just think it's stupid.

cuckyplunt · 08/06/2024 07:45

” U fuckoffee?” Has been a joke in our family for years. Wouldn’t be comfortable if the children had repeated it though.

a good work bud of mine asked me " ??? U4coffey..lol" lol - she was a very nice work mate

poshfrock · 08/06/2024 09:57

I would avoid. But then I stopped buying French Connection when they became fcuk. Just totally vulgar and unnecessary.

GreenWheat · 08/06/2024 10:15

Oh yawn, how tedious and unoriginal. Coffee shops are ten a penny so I wouldn't bother with it even if the coffee was good.

LookItsMeAgain · 08/06/2024 10:39

There are a few ways to read that shop name - one is telling you to get to the far side of fuck and keep going - fuck - offee and if they are actually spelling it with the k instead of the c then they are really sailing close to the wind as they could be seen to be an adult toy shop and not a coffee shop.

FuckTheClubUp · 08/06/2024 10:42

I don’t get it?😂

DecafCanEffOff · 08/06/2024 10:55
The Devil Wears Prada Coffee GIF

I'd say they are using it as an effective clientele filter.

I think it's funny.

Zodfa · 08/06/2024 11:10

It's the kind of humour that's extremely funny and sophisticated if you're 12.

Alconleigh · 08/06/2024 11:21

It's not really word play is it? It's putting the word fuck in front of coffee. As others have said, for coffee would be mildly amusing. This, not so much.

Trainday · 08/06/2024 11:29

JustaSmallSlice · 08/06/2024 07:53

I assume you mean the one on Bermondsey street. It’s only a name - the coffee is fine there. It’s an ‘edgy’ area, will induce a bit pearl clutching to very few in the area given the demographic of young, trendy workers

Maybe it's a chain or an old joke then because, no, not that one.

OP posts:
Funnywonder · 08/06/2024 11:31

Seems they are telling me to fuck off. So ... I will🤣

Newsenmum · 08/06/2024 11:32

It does good coffee. It’s not even that rude!

Ceramic272 · 08/06/2024 11:34

I also assumed you meant the Bermondsey st one. But from a quick google it seems there are quite a number of Fuckoffees in london!

CranfordScones · 08/06/2024 11:34

No. I'm not offended. But it's mid-wit wordplay trying to be edgy.
