I’ve NC’d for this as my knees may be identifiable 🤣
Went arse over tit at lunchtime today on the pavement.
Really hurt my knees - but my left one in particular is extremely painful and I can’t bend it and I’m dragging it around When I walk.

Is it a case of (continuing with) frozen peas or A&E??

Right knee for comparison which is sore but not nearly as painful as the left knee

Urgent Care at Guy’s will call through to A & E at Tommy’s if they can’t deal with you. It gets you further up the list to be seen and you can use the staff bus to get there.

Getonwitit · 06/06/2024 17:05

Glad it's not broken. 💐

BobbyBiscuits · 06/06/2024 17:07

Could you go to minor injuries? It would have much less of a wait than a&e. I think they X ray it there. If you need further treatment they do send you to it but it could just be badly bruised?
You poor thing though, looks v sore.

I don't think a&e is the place for a swollen knee. Sounds like an urgent treatment centre to me. You won't be triaged until the morning anyway.

That's the emergency list.
A and E is also for accidents, such as potentially broken or fractured bones, especially in area where there is no 24 minor injuries centre.

2chocolateoranges · 06/06/2024 20:37

Glad to hear it’s not broken, plenty of rest and relaxation for you.

NannaKaren · 07/06/2024 19:01

Jeannie88 · 07/06/2024 21:10

Oh heck, please go to a and e, that looks more than just a bump! Hope you the treatment you need and it gets better soon. Xx

Ukrainebaby23 · 08/06/2024 05:47

Aah good my xray vision was spot on..
Amazed people are grossed out by this pics. It's a knee with a bit of blood and swelling. It must be sore OP but I see far, far worse everyday.

So it’s not broken - phew! It it’s badly bruised so been given advice on how to manage it, as well as crutches and a tetanus jab too

Glad nothing is broken. Rest up op and take it easy. Flowers

If it were me I'd do a few mobility tests with the child - bending, twisting, putting weight on it. If any of these cause a sharp pain or crunching noise/sensation, frozen peas and straight to A&E.

If it doesn't cause a sharp pain or crunching noise/sensation - frozen peas, mobility checks again in an hour.

and repeat until swelling goes down

This is terrible advice.

I fell badly on my ankle last summer. It hurt, but not sharp pain. No crunching noises.

When I got to A&E I had broken it.

Non weight bearing is a hospital job!
