GROSS PHOTO WARNING - Frozen peas or A&E?

I’ve NC’d for this as my knees may be identifiable 🤣
Went arse over tit at lunchtime today on the pavement.
Really hurt my knees - but my left one in particular is extremely painful and I can’t bend it and I’m dragging it around When I walk.

Is it a case of (continuing with) frozen peas or A&E??

Right knee for comparison which is sore but not nearly as painful as the left knee

A and E.

scorcio5 · 05/06/2024 22:59

As an A&E nurse, you need A&E, good luck

3luckystars · 05/06/2024 23:01

Good luck at A and E, it looks desperate.

Did you bang you head at all?

Pieceofpurplesky · 05/06/2024 23:07

I would go to A&E, I walked around in a broken ankle for a few days and made it worse!

Bunnyannesummers · 05/06/2024 23:09

A&E vote from me too. Mostly on the basis that if it gets much worse you may not physically be able to get to A&E if you wait

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 05/06/2024 23:09

A&E. that needs to be seen by a doctor.

I don't think a&e is the place for a swollen knee. Sounds like an urgent treatment centre to me. You won't be triaged until the morning anyway.

This falls very much under the "severe injuries" bracket. It's too complex for an MIU/UTC.

ToAandEorNotToAandE · 05/06/2024 23:37

Waiting now, cold and bored.

Here it is from another angle (sorry my legs are gross, a spider got in my clothes today and went haywire, as if it wasn’t a shit enough day 😂) bit worried that there’s a bit of a dip in the middle but will see what they say. Average wait 5 hours 🙄

Minor injuries can do x-rays where I live, it's where I've always taken my kids with injuries that could be a sprain or could be a break . Always very efficient.

tartancladpjs · 05/06/2024 23:41

Ouch, good luck Flowers

Glad to hear you're there and hopefully you get seen quicker than 5 hours.

It looks worse from that angle! I'm fairly sure knees shouldn't do that.

Howbizarre22 · 05/06/2024 23:44

Possible fractured patella or tibial plateau fracture. Or badly injured patella-femoral joint. A&E for you!

determinedtomakethiswork · 06/06/2024 00:11

It looks so painful! did you take the ice in with you?

fairymary87 · 06/06/2024 00:29

Ouch op feel for you x

FirstPastThePostOffice · 06/06/2024 01:03

Bloody hell OP that does look sore, my knee wasn’t as swollen when I fractured my tibial plateau (!) so agree with everyone saying you should be in A and E, hope the wait isn’t as long as 5 hours though, nothing worse than the misery of sitting in an uncomfortable A and E waiting room at night. So bright and boring! Let us know how you get on.

DancefloorAcrobatics · 06/06/2024 01:11

💐it looks very painful, definitely a A&E job. I hope you get seen sooner than the 5hours. Or at least get some painkillers from the triage nurse.

HappyCompromise · 06/06/2024 01:13

5 hours! Jesus I would come back tomorrow or cal 111 to book you an appointment at X-ray or minor injuries. You aren’t going to die overnight

ReadingSoManyThreads · 06/06/2024 01:18

5 hours is actually not bad, it's a lot more than that where I am. I hope your DH has packed you some magazines or puzzle books to keep you busy during your wait. They'll help distract you from the pain too!

Update us with how it goes. Looks so painful! Wishing you a swift recovery.

dimsumfatsum · 06/06/2024 01:25

Ouch OP. That looks like one mashed up knee. I hope you get some answers soon.

The thing is, if she leaves and goes back in the morning, if she happens to need surgery, she may miss a slot for tomorrow. But if she stays to be seen tonight, she'll be further up the queue! Better to wait it out now while she's already gone through the pain of physically getting there.

coxesorangepippin · 06/06/2024 02:18

God op that's looks sore

Stay where you are though, you're there now

That looks so painful, hopefully not a break or dislocated kneecap but feel it may be. Good luck please update us. Sending love x

I was expecting guts on the floor after that shouty thread title.
