WhatsApp and Siri - problem

Please can anyone help??
I rely on using Siri to read my WhatsApp messages and compose them.
I updated WhatsApp yesterday and since then Siri just won't connect - I get an error message every time such as 'uh oh there's a problem' or 'can't connect try again later'.

I have just deleted the WhatsApp app from my phone and reinstalled it and it STILL doesn't work with Siri (and I've lost a few days of messages as well as I was stupid and didn't update my iCloud to save the messages 😕).

Can anyone help, please??

@Jakesy999 that is so weird!! Did you recently update WhatsApp too?

I have had no luck at all. DH's Siri is working just fine with WhatsApp - it's so very strange and annoying!

@StrikesAtticFlat Yes, WhatsApp updated yesterday and the problem started yesterday so that must be the issue. iOS also updated recently. I have tried to report it to the AppStore/WhatsApp but can't quite see how to do that but I'll keep trying.

I can just hope they release a patch soon to fix it.

I'm waiting for a callback from Apple - will update for you if I get an answer! I did an online chat first but the guy couldn't help.

I'm waiting for a reply from WhatsApp having sent them a WhatsApp (not via Siri, obvs). Between us we may get this sorted!!

@Jakesy999 I 'chatted' with someone at WhatsApp yesterday - we tried various things but they couldn't help and in the end said it was a problem with my phone and ended the chat. Maybe you'll get someone more helpful!

Lol, I'm not so sure. Their first response was to ask me to send a video of it occurring which I did from my iPhone. Their second response was 'We don't support Google Assistant'. The video is clearly from an iPhone and mentioning siri in the report ought to tell them I'm dealing with iOS not Google. Ho hum.

Same here. tested it on an old phone. Worked fine with older WhatsApp version. Updated it last night - immediately stopped working. The WhatsApp helpline isn’t very helpful unfortunately and this is the only site that i have seen up to date complaints. Hoping for a quick update

So it really MUST be to do with the update.

I wonder how quickly WhatsApp will realise as they have not been helpful so far!

Although weirdly my DH has updated his (as all his apps update automatically) and HIS Siri is still working...

I initially thought it was CarPlay... as I use it in my car. Its not though - it is Siri as it doesn't work in any environment :-(

I have exactly the same issue. Switched from an iPhone 12 to 13 last night and now Siri cannot send messages on WhatsApp either via the phone or Apple play in the car. So frustrating!

Sometimes Siri issues can be resolved by turning her off and back on again. (I did this to fix CarPlay last night)

First thing I tried! I wish it were that easy. If you haven't updated WhatsApp recently I recommend you don't! (Annoyingly, my update was forced on me as WhatsApp wouldn't open unless I updated.)

No update available on WhatsApp yet - surely they are getting more and more people complaining to them about this...?

Agree - trying to bring the error to Metas attention is almost impossible. cannot speak to a person. there must be others with the same experience. Nothing on the internet though...

just spoke to apple - they are aware of the issue. Apple working on it - and have communicated this with whatsapp.
will either be addressed in an ios update or a whatsapp update.
Now at least we know its not just us

I hope they hurry up - one of my DC is on the other side of the world and I rely on Siri to WhatsApp while I'm driving, cooking etc!

AMAZING! Thank you. I am waiting for a callback from Apple. WhatsApp has been absolutely 100% appalling and I have told them so but of course it's likely it's only a bot reading my angry comments. Honestly, they have been truly awful. Apple initially said tell WhatsApp but that's why I came back to them saying WhatsApp not interested. But I'll tell them you've had a good response and so fingers crossed. Thank you again.
