Worn my summer dressing gown 3 times this year. Fucking weather

Still in my fleecy hooded dressing gown. The light cotton summer one for drifting round the garden deadheading on a warm spring summer morning….stuffed back in wardrobe.it’s fucking freezing here.

On the flip side, I think I only had to defrost my windscreen 5 or 6 times last winter.

BigDahliaFan · 04/06/2024 07:16

Yes but, it also rained since last July….

Very variable here (SE England). There was one morning last week when I had to put a fleece on to hang washing out first thing because of the cold wind but most mornings now its mild enough to just be out in my (thin, short sleeved) nightshirt. It's very mild today at 13° and little breeze.

Averagelife · 04/06/2024 07:20

Be patient- it’s only the beginning of June and the forecast is more promising from mid month.

MangosteenSoda · 04/06/2024 07:23

You need the kind of patience that a saint could only dream of to deal with the weather in this country.

It’s not that cold imo, but relentlessly grey even when it’s not raining. And then excessively breezy whenever there’s a bit of sun. Summer in name only.

BusyCM · 04/06/2024 07:25

It's perfectly average temperatures for this time of year, I don't get the angst about the weather?.

ssd · 04/06/2024 07:28

Are you not from the UK @BusyCM?

Angst about the weather is 2nd nature to us Grin

ShiftySquirrel · 04/06/2024 07:34

I miss sunny mornings most. They really set me up for the day.

I can have a cup of tea outside, deadhead flowers, like you say OP, and potter until it's time to get ready. Normally I'm doing that from end of March.

I have done it once this year.

It's been a very mild autumn, winter and spring, but with that much wetter and cloudier too.

Haha I am, born and bred!

However I hate the really hot weather, preferably it cooler so maybe that's why I'm pretty content at the moment.

tunainatin · 04/06/2024 07:40

You need a mid weather dressing gown 😁 thin but warmish

Me too. Today is forecast to be about 17 but full cloud cover. So warm enough to sit outside and use my day off for weeding but not too hot and no need to worry about suncream. Perfect.

WoodBurningStov · 04/06/2024 07:56

Me too op, think I've only worn my 'summer' one when the fleecy one was in the wash!

mitogoshi · 04/06/2024 08:03

Perfectly warm here, sw, not had heating on for weeks. Summer dressing gown been in use

frozendaisy · 04/06/2024 08:06

Do you reckon Mondy Don has a floatie for his roses? He must have, probably in different colours depending on the rose.

Monty Don in a floatie that's a warming image with the coffee this morning.

Only June?? It’s supposed to be summer! We’ve had this on MN for months, “it’s only April”, “it’s only May”, now “it’s only June”. Next it’ll be “it’s September, what do you expect?”. More that 2 months a year of good weather, if we’re lucky!

Meh. Sun's out here now. Going to have to take off my cardigan, it's a bit warm. Disappointing

Haha so true. It was the warmest spring, so I assume that's why it was also the wettest.

Met Office is basically saying June will be grey and damp and it might be better at end of June. Well that's basically three weeks before MN starts saying "It's the summer holidays: it always rains!" and then it's the candle wankers saying how cosy it is and then Christmas.

BAH

CeeJay81 · 04/06/2024 09:04

The rain I'd back here in Wales(suprise suprise!). The end of the last week/the weekend was lovely though, had a summer dress om for a couple of those days. This week looks like a mixed bag, so it could be worse.

Candle wankers 😂

Evenstar · 04/06/2024 09:06

I apologise to everyone, I said to DH I might do some gardening yesterday afternoon and it immediately clouded over and started drizzling ☹️

Summertimer · 04/06/2024 09:24

A lot of rain since January but I won’t be surprised if they start on about droughts the minute the summer arrives

13 is not mild for June.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/06/2024 09:35

The nations tomatoes are not ripening due to lack of warmth and sun according to the news last night!
