Do you wear necklaces every day?

I hardly ever wear them but I'd like to. I think I look a bit frumpy so don't see the point.
Does anyone else relate to this?
I'd like to change but I haven't got a clue what I like.

No don’t deny yourself things because of how you feel about yourself!

iv got a few but I almost always wear (including in the shower and sleeping) a silver necklace except occasionally taking it off for swimming etc.

it doesn’t need to be expensive but if you’re going to wear it all the time make sure nothing plated as it will degrade or leave stains but find yourself something you like an get it on! Forget about what you think you look like with it or how you think someone else might think about it. Just start wearing something be it a ring ora necklace or a bracelet and you will probably find it becomes something you hardly take off.

infact I’m telling you to do this not because is necessary but because you should do something kind to yourself. You deserve to change your opinion of your self and I say that as a quite fat getting too old frump myself 😂

@Strawberrycheesecake7 that's quite funny!

I always wear a gold chain with pendant, but occasionally swap the pendant. It's not eye catching but it's pretty.

LadyPoison · 02/06/2024 23:50

Heavy handmade silver chain with random links. Occasionally I add a charm to it but it doesn’t need it

Yes, I have a simple but special one that I’ve worn for a good decade. I only take it off if I’m going out and need something more statementy, or on holiday when I wear cheaper alternatives.

Rookangaroo4 · 03/06/2024 00:07

Yes. I wear a fine gold chain with a cross on. It was my Nan’s. I’m not religious at all but I love wearing something she wore.

oakleaffy · 03/06/2024 00:11

I wear necklaces and bracelets

Son bought me a small Jade pendant from his year out in New Zealand, and I treasure it.

I always wear it, on a fine silver chain, and have another he bought , also silver.

{Silver when worn regularly stays shiny} - my skin tone doesn't suit gold. {Just as well, as 18 carat is too expensive to justify}

Everyday. I feel very odd without one. I love jewellery and collect vintage or quirky necklaces, brooches and bangles. I wear at least something every day. My dh is very good at finding me lovely things.

I too love well made silver animals- some might think they are tacky, but I was overjoyed to find a couple of hallmarked silver animals being sold by an animal charity {20 and 21 yrs old respectively} made by a designer I love, as old stock.

I used to but I now have a baby who uses them to strangle me with, so I rarely wear them anymore.

Same here and tried to pull earrings too but I’m going to take the risk gain soon. I do have some really lovely necklaces and other jewellery.

I can’t wear jewellery to sleep in though, it used to be safe on my bedside locker pre-DC but not any more which is another reason as to why I’ve been wearing it less frequently.

I am sure you do not look frumpy OP :)

Necklaces have a special meaning in me and my SO's relationship; when I was younger I had several, with stones, rings, and all kinds of significance; then I had to stop wearing them when the kids were small and now I wear a perfect silver circle to mean the eternity of our bond. I never take it off.

fieldsofbutterflies · 03/06/2024 11:50

No - I work with dogs so it wouldn't be safe. I only wear small stud earrings for the same reason.

Maddy70 · 03/06/2024 11:55

I never take mine off

me neither :)

I love antique things. I've a gorgeous edwardian necklace. I also love handmade things. I would never wear anything from a high street shop as I prefer individual things

BeachHutsAndDeckchairs · 03/06/2024 12:09

I don't wear them at work and then forget to put them back on again!

Mitsky · 03/06/2024 12:11

Yep, necklaces are my accessory as I don’t have pierced ears and just wear my wedding and engagement rings. I love them - they make an outfit for me as I tend to wear a long of time neutrals (Cos / Arket) type outfits so a necklace brings it up.

RuthW · 03/06/2024 12:13

Everyday unless I have a high neckline

Ladyj84 · 03/06/2024 12:13

Never take 1 necklace off, hubby bought me it and it will never leave my neck till I leave this earth in many years lol. Occasionally I add a necklace for going out but I only have a handful and there from my grandma and mum.

SallyWD · 03/06/2024 12:14

I wear necklaces if I'm going to work or seeing people. If I'm just with the family, going to shops or whatever I don't bother. I really love jewellery but don't see the point if no one's going to see it.
My in-laws are Indian and wear two or three necklaces each day. I think they feel naked if they're not wearing a lot of jewellery.

Dryplate · 03/06/2024 12:16

I think in our new casual world, necklaces look a bit dated TBH

JonnyTheDogFacedBoy · 03/06/2024 12:18

I really want to, but I can never find one that looks right on me for some reason.

I wear stud earrings every day. Do you think wearing a necklace as well would be a bit much? I always feel unnatural in jewellery!

Puppiesmakemehappy · 03/06/2024 12:20

I can’t wear any jewellery for work other than a plain wedding band so when I’m off I like to wear a chain with a little pendant, some Huggies earrings and my engagement ring and stone wedding band .
its how I psychologically put a line between work and not working

I do not think it would be a bit much - I think if you like it and it makes you happy that's all the validation you need :)

MabelW · 03/06/2024 12:23

I wear them most days ,
my son has bought my many over the years and earrings too, makes me feel close to him when I wear them, a
little trip down memory lane each time I choose one or a pair of earrings

Lately started wearing a
triple row gold with tiny glass beads dotted about on it - only cheap was £18 down to £3!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 03/06/2024 12:24

Yes. I work in a lab, so bracelets and rings are tricky. I mostly wear gold or silver with a small pendant but have quite a few that I swap around.

I had to train myself into wearing one though because it wasn't habit! I put it by my watch (which I always wear) and I wore a heavier pendant at first so I noticed if it was missing. Now I'm used to putting one on every day. Go for it!
