What's your curry order?

I'm trying to get inspiration of what to order for the next takeaway night. We usually go one main per person (though we share), rice and a naan bread and a side of poppadoms.

What else is good. I want something other than chicken tikka and rogan josh.

Love a jalfrezi, or our local does something called a lamb tawa which is amazing - kind of like a balti with delicious soft fried onions on top. Also quite like getting one mixed grill and then a curry + rice to share between two. You're making me hungry now - enjoy!

emeraldsapphire · 31/05/2024 17:19

Potato saag
Fish patia
Pashwari naan
Pilau rice

My favourite!

SingingSands · 31/05/2024 17:20

Palak paneer.

Yum. Fancy a curry now!

KnickerlessParsons · 31/05/2024 17:22

Lamb dupiasa aloo sag and naan

Prinnny · 31/05/2024 17:22

Chicken tikka saag
Mushroom rice
Spicy chips
Cheese and garlic naan extra cheese

MinnieMountain · 31/05/2024 17:22

Chicken dhansak or butter chicken depending on where it’s from.

RagzRebooted · 31/05/2024 17:22

We always get a korma, a Ceylon, a madras or vindaloo and one or two we haven't tried before, like their speciality ones (and then never remember for next time what we had and if it was good!). We get a naan each and a few rice. I always order a mixed vegetable side dish as I like to have some veg with it. There's usually enough for leftovers for breakfast, but less these days with hungry teens.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 31/05/2024 17:22

If in Scotland a chicken tikka main course with a side of lentil curry sauce, pilau rice and naan.

Anywhere else

Lamb or chicken jalfrezi with pilau rice and naan.

NCfor24 · 31/05/2024 17:22

Prawn pathia
Saag aloo
Garlic or cheese naan

BIWI · 31/05/2024 17:23

Chicken vindaloo
Saag paneer
tarka dahl

DH/DS1 also have naan and pilau rice with theirs (their main choice varies)

Ohhownaice · 31/05/2024 17:23

I always head straight to the Chef Specials bit of the menu and pick something I've not had before. DP tends to go for the one with banana and lychees that I've forgotten the name of. Then we'll add cheesy peas or saag aloo or some other veg side.

TempersFuggit · 31/05/2024 17:26

onion bhajis to start

Lamb rogan josh
garlic naan
saag aloo
mushroom bhaji

I don’t often order rice, but cook my own if I fancy it.
we order quite a lot and make it last two nights.

AlisonDonut · 31/05/2024 17:26

Masala Dosa.

CJ0374 · 31/05/2024 17:26

Mains:
Prawn or prawn vindaloo, but if I'm feeling brave or have a cold, a phall
Chicken madras
Chicken Taj Mahal
Chicken or prawn ceylon

Sides:
Vegetable dansak
Bhindi Bhaji (okra)
Tarka Daal
Saag Ponir

Garlic and peshwari naan

NN1der · 31/05/2024 17:26

Chicken jalfrezi, garlic naan and a side of tarka dahl. If feeling very piggish, some poppadums and an onion bhaji starter too.

Fieldsofgold1 · 31/05/2024 17:28

Oh god I want a curry now..
Saag paneer
Prawn dupiaza or
Vegetable or prawn biriyani
Bombay Aloo
Egg fried rice or pilau rice
Maybe king prawn tandoori or jalfrezi
Curried boiled eggs if on the menu.

SpentAll · 31/05/2024 17:28

Korai chicken
Pilau or mushroom rice
Naan if sharing
Onion bhaji if sharing
Bombay aloo if sharing

Gladtobeout · 31/05/2024 17:30

Biryani
If they do a thali then meat thali
I usually go for chef's specials for any additional curries

quirkychick · 31/05/2024 17:31

Depends what I fancy:
something tandoori style:
Prawn or chicken shashlik with salad and raita
or with sauce:
Prawn patia/dupiaza or Lamb
adventurous: chef's specials
Sides:
Saag paneer, tarka dahl, veg curry...
Poppadoms with pickles.

worcesterpear · 31/05/2024 17:33

mushroom rice
onion bhaji
chicken methi or something like butter chicken

MonsteraMama · 31/05/2024 17:33

If I'm not feeling spicy I get a honey badami, "special" rice (from our local that's lightly spiced with pistachios and almonds and is LUSH), and a peshwari naan.

If in a more spicy mood I get balti garlic chilli chicken with garlic rice and garlic naan and apologise profusely to my poor husband.

Others I enjoy are lamb Passanda, Pathia, mango delight (sweet and gingery with fresh mango), a nice simple chicken makhani, and keema matar.

Purplecatshopaholic · 31/05/2024 17:35

Just ordered one. Lamb korma, saag paneer, some garlic naan bread, mushroom rice, some chicken pakora and hopefully they will send some poppadoms too. Looking forward to it!

Tarkan · 31/05/2024 17:38

Chicken passanda and a cheese and garlic naan. No rice as the naan is massive and more than enough for me with the curry.

I've actually recently taken to just ordering a tub of korma sauce and the naan and eating that by itself. It's one of my comfort meals now.

My favourite curry place also does brilliant fried chicken so I'll sometimes add some of that to dip in the sauce if I'm feeling hungry. The extra crunch with the sauce is amazing.

drspouse · 31/05/2024 17:38

I was already starving before I saw this!
Love a veg paneer, either spinach or peas
Then would share chapatti plus pilau rice with DH.
Have recently started getting biryani - veg or chicken.
