Just like the title says. What have you stopped buying because it's become too expensive?
I'll go first.

Takeaways
Hair appointments
Lamb

Takeaways, eating out, alcohol, non-essentials

DustyD2 · 25/05/2024 00:01

Meals out, clothes, holidays

ChocAuVin · 25/05/2024 00:01

It’s getting to the point where extra virgin olive oil is like, “Erm, you what…?!”

Starlightstarbright3 · 25/05/2024 00:02

Fabric softener … don’t miss it .

MrsBobtonTrent · 25/05/2024 00:04

Bananas. In fact any shop fruit other than apples. Luckily have plenty of fruit stored from last year. But went to buy bananas last week and couldn’t do it.

Rockthecasbah1 · 25/05/2024 00:05

@ChocAuVin that's another one I shop around for, the prices are ridiculous

Branded tomato sauce
Branded butter

OP posts:
Puffalicious · 25/05/2024 00:05

Smoked salmon
Posh crisps
Cashews
Varieties of cheese - just cheddar now
Branded washing powder

DyslexicPoster · 25/05/2024 00:07

Partly due to life style changes post covid - hairdressers and clothes

Due to COL eating out and takeaways are a rare treat.

Puffalicious · 25/05/2024 00:07

Yes OP, all branded sauces- now own brand ketchup/ mayo/ bbq sauce. Only one I still buy is HP.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 25/05/2024 00:07

Topside beef joints from Morrisons because in one week the price has jumped from £12 to nearly £20.

cleo333 · 25/05/2024 00:13

Heinz sauce . Olive oil ( horrendous) . beef and branded crisps fruit is pricey too , it's all quite miserable !

catlady7 · 25/05/2024 00:14

Nout

AnnieSnap · 25/05/2024 00:19

Organic veg. We are vegetarians so meat and fish isn’t a problem. My husband is a sober alcohol and I have little interest in drinking so these things haven’t been an issue for us. Not to sound too boring, but we haven’t really done takeaways either. DH is a fabulous cook, so no real temptation.

missshilling · 25/05/2024 00:20

Not much. We just pay more.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 25/05/2024 00:28

I nearly fainted at the price of olive oil. My bread recipe made do with sunflower oil. Would've been very expensive bread!

Gooseysgirl · 25/05/2024 00:34

Meat and fish! I only buy lamb a few times per year now. Rarely buy beef other than mince. It falls me handing over £4 for two small salmon fillets that would have been £2.50 a couple of years ago. We have also cut back on eating out and takeaways, buy the takeaway bags from Sainsbury’s/M&S instead.

GentlemanJay · 25/05/2024 00:34

Biscuits. Chocolate bars. Crisps. Sweets. Don't have them in the house anymore.

ProvincialLady2024 · 25/05/2024 00:50

Organic whole chicken
Olive oil
Branded ice cream
Branded detergent
Fewer take aways and restaurants.

Pieceofpurplesky · 25/05/2024 01:01

Meat
Olive oil
Salmon
Takeaways

It's basically pasta/chilli/salad/jacket potatoes here unless my mum buys me some shopping (she lives with me)

chocolatecoveredpeanut · 25/05/2024 01:30

Having first hair cut in a year over this half term with DC
Clothes
Fabric conditioner
Super Unleaded
Different types of teabags
New shampoos and body wash etc - using up testers from hotels instead

whatsoccuringnow · 25/05/2024 01:35

Eating out. Takeaways. Taxis (don't go out much anyway) don't buy much new clothes.

UnionsFailingWomen · 25/05/2024 01:40

Brands of cereal, who the hell buys proper a Wheetabix now??

I now also buy the cheapest toothpaste, again who affords the fancy toothpaste?

Disneydatknee88 · 25/05/2024 01:41

Hair appointments definitely. I've gone down to a once a year haircut and I box dye every 6 weeks. Just going out in general. We were meant to go out tomorrow for a meal to celebrate our anniversary but both decided we would rather stay in due to expense.

Friendofdennis · 25/05/2024 01:42

Holidays. Gym. Takeaways clothes (already have enough) no longer go shopping just for fun. No longer buy furniture or stuff for the home. Have realised that I have more than enough of everything and just make use of what I have

MariaVT65 · 25/05/2024 01:45

Due to a new health issue, I can no longer have takeaways, eat out at most places, buy chocolate or cheese, or anything spicy.

Stopped buying takesway coffees for like £4 a pop.

For my hair to be blow dried at hair appts. Dreading when I have to start colouring over the ever-increasing greys.

In fact, most nice things. No life with little kids.
