We deserve a government who don't actually despise us, so at least we'll get that, whatever else their shortcomings. It's be a nice change.

May I respectfully ask who you would recommend voting for please, as I honestly do not have a clue. I have read the manifestos but have so many questions.

Well he could have made the announcement indoors instead of standing outside like a drowned rat trying to make his voice heard over the (hardly unexpected) music/heckling. Bad judgement - as always.

Well Sunak reminds me of the rat character in 'Ratatouille'.
Maybe appropriate then.

That song is the opposite of an anti-depressant for me. Things got worse, not better. Before anyone comes at me accusing me of being a "Tory Bot", check my username.

Yes, things got worse after 2010....I wonder who's been in power since the ?

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 22/05/2024 23:12

I'll be voting Labour, although I'm not expecting miracles. I'm not massively keen on Starmer but the rest are a ton worse, imo.

It's not genius it's immature. I absolutely won't be voting Tory but blasting out music from the nineties while due electoral process is taking place is just look at me behaviour.

Would music from the eighties be ok?

Uteris · 22/05/2024 23:25

Loveheartsandlockets · 22/05/2024 18:33

It was Steve Bray, the thorn in the side of the Tories.

I live Steve Bray!

Yes

I suggest “Should I stay or Should I go” by The Clash then

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 22/05/2024 23:40

@pizzaHeart bonus points if Rishi joined in

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 22/05/2024 23:47

Not me because nothing will get better under a Labour government. Unless of course you’re a man pretending to be a woman.

Proper belly laugh at it Grin

Well done them

Enjoy a generation in obscurity cunts

Delightful…. Why do women actually use this word? And why is it usually only used by lefties?

Lochroy · 23/05/2024 00:53

It had me laughing out loud as I listened on the radio (and the music sounded far louder on R4 than on a TV clip I've seen since).

Take it at face value - ignore your opinion of New Labour, and indeed your opinion of the Tories since 2010 - and look at what was in front of us: the leader of the sinking Tory ship, setting out his stall for the election in the absolute worst rain, looking like a drowned rat whilst some smart arse starts playing the music associated with the last Labour landslide. How is that not funny?

It’s interesting how you could be offended by a swear word but not by the evil inflicted on the UK’s most vulnerable people.

You’re alright Jack?

This is getting old. If you want to vote Tory, then do it. But stop pretending it’s about the trans movement and be honest and admit it’s because the Tories benefit you financially. I see you and so do others.

This utter crap reminds me of when people voting to leave the EU came up with all manner of mental gymnastics to justify it ‘oh no, it’s not about immigration, it’s about MEPs.’ Sure it was.

Nah, mate. Flushed Away is the rat movie you’re thinking of.

Steve Bray was however not banned from being outside the Conservative Party headquarters and he had an interesting exchange with Nigel Farage who was walking out of the building. Bray repeatedly called Farage a right wing fascist.

And that’s why we love him.

House prices increased by ca. 150% between 1997 and 2010 under Labour. They introduced tuition fees which have royally lined the pockets of the universities’ endowment funds and saddled our children with ridiculous levels of debt that the Tories have only added to.

The incumbents have completely screwed the rental market by making landlords pay tax on losses, and people wonder why they are in bidding wars/losing their homes, all to fund more taxes.

These idiots want us plebs to depend on the state so that they can get or stay in power in order to feather their own nests.

Have you ever heard of a poor retired former MP living on the breadline?

Labour brought a million social homes up to standard.

The reason people are in bidding wars for houses is because the Tories have sold off social housing stock and have failed to meet new home building targets.

Labour improved education with record levels of literacy and numeracy in schools, Young people achieving some of the best ever results at 14, 16, and 18 and doubled funding for every pupil in England has doubled. University became a choice for millions of young people who had not had the opportunity before.

Labour do not want people to depend on the state. Last time they were in power they helped 1.8 million people into work, doubled the number of apprenticeships and increased employment figures to the highest ever. Nobody wants people to depend on the state - they just want it to be there for the people who genuinely need it. That could be you or I.

I've no idea what you mean by feathering their nests......I mean, the Tories are masters of that aren't they?

I've never heard of a retired MP living on the breadline. What kind of measure is that? I don't want to hear of anyone living on the breadline.

Exactly this. The Tories do everything they can to stop social mobility from happening.

oh how quickly people have forgotten war
mongering Blair and totally incompetent Brown....

The music blaring and the rain pouring on him gave me absolute and utter joy this afternoon! Was absolutely perfect

This is exactly how we felt in my house, as an NHS nurse I cannot wait to get rid of this corrupt government.

What an idiot Steve Bray is, he reminds me of Rick from the Young Ones (if anyone remembers that). Only unlike Rick he is not a teenage student he is around my age (55). And no idea why he has time to hang around parliament shouting his infantile slogans - he needs to get a life (or a job).

Spidey66 · 23/05/2024 11:43

I don't think they should've played it.

I think they should've played "Things can Only get Wetter".

I think the song and rain were genius, he looked a fool!
