URGENT - DOG ATTACKED PARTNER **Please read OP's latest updates** [edited by MNHQ]

Hi all, my 6yo JRT has attacked my partner twice this morning. He has recently developed some territorial aggression, and we have to 'coax' him away from his bed each morning. This morning was as normal, but he wouldn't come so we just left him. My partner went to get milk, about 2m away from him, and the dog lunged and has bitten his hand fairly badly. We managed to lock him away whilst we sorted things, and have since boarded a section of the kitchen away so he can get outside but also can't get to us.
Anytime we enter the kitchen he viciously barks. I have a 4yo at home, so this isn't something I can risk.
He has since bitten my partner again when we went to open the back door for him (by leaning over the barrier we've created) and it's really bad - blood everywhere and he is now in a&e.
I cannnot get near the dog. How do I get him to a point where I can get him checked out - or as I'm probably denying to myself, put to sleep..?
I'm in absolute bits - I just need advice please urgently.

To note - I can't get a vet to come to him, I have already called around

  • [Note from MNHQ: We've already edited the title to ask people to read the OP's updates before responding (just click on the See All tab). As that doesn't seem to have worked, we feel the need to explain here in the opening post that the OP's dog has been put to sleep by now as he was found to be suffering from a brain tumour. The OP is obviously in pieces about this so please be sensitive when responding.]

I doubt anyone is still following this, however if anyone does check back, 3 months to the day Donut passed, I had a little tattoo in his honour. DD kisses it when she misses him, and honestly it makes me feel like I'm close to him once again.

Not healed, still devastated, but making progress.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Unicorntastic · 24/08/2024 21:05

OMG, he was adorable, so sweet looking, glad you have the tattoo of him.

MonsteraMama · 24/08/2024 22:00

Lovely memorial to lovely Donut 💐

We're on month 8 now since losing our boy, it does get easier and they stay with you in so many special little ways. Wishing you and your family continued healing and peace.

dawngreen · 24/08/2024 22:07

Sorry for the loss of your dog. Brain tumours tend to spread fast to other areas, and pts tends to be the last and only option.

PolaroidPrincess · 24/08/2024 22:27

What a lovely thing to do to remember little Donut by Flowers

Tahlbias · 24/08/2024 22:38

What a beautiful tribute to your little boy Flowers

Poundshop · 25/08/2024 16:31

I'm sorry 😔

One of my saddest memories is my terrier being pts when I was about ten.

He bit several people, including children.

It is so hard to lose a beloved pet, but even small dogs can cause serious injury.

It sounds like the tumour was behind the biting - I think my dog might have had one too.

Hugs 🤗

I'm so sorry to hear this.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion but I would have any dog that bit put to sleep.

Frith2013 · 25/08/2024 21:41

Sorry, I didn't realise it was such a long thread.

I hope you are OK.

Windypants21 · 25/08/2024 22:48

Hi all, FlangeBoil here under a new name. For anyone still following, we have a little update. It’s been almost a year since we lost Donut and the house has seemed so quiet and we have absolutely longed for a dog since then however the idea of a puppy again isn’t something we fancy right now. So, we’ve decided to adopt! Our adopted greyhound, Pickle, will be joining us on Tuesday after a successful meet with DD and a good few meets with DP and I. He’s 9.5 years old, an ex race dog and has a few medical issues that he needs ongoing treatment for, all of which means he’s been in the rescue centre for a long time. We’ve done the research, considered the cost and are so excited to welcome him into the home so that he can enjoy his twilight years doing what he does best - snacking and snoozing on the sofa.

Everyone meet Pickle!
