Craziest conspiracy theory

sashh · 19/05/2024 07:27

I've just come across Rick Wiles.

According to him the covid jab injected an egg in to your bloodstream. These have now hatched into a synthetic parasites and this is a plan to take over the world.

I love a good conspiracy theory. What is the craziest one you have come across?

Avril Lavigne having died and replaced by a lookalike is up there

spuddy4 · 19/05/2024 13:25

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain to play devils advocate isn't everyone who refused the vaccine supposed to be dead as well?

@MrsDanversGlidesAgain to play devils advocate isn't everyone who refused the vaccine supposed to be dead as well?

The truth is that some people died from covid and some people had an adverse reaction to the vaccine and died. There are known side effects so some will have succumbed to that.
Most people are ok.
As a pp pointed out, there's often some basis for conspiracy theories but mostly it's from not trusting the authorities. Which also has some basis.

I never understand why people so gleefully dismiss anything described as a 'conspiracy theory' as that description somehow being 'proof' that it cannot possibly be true.

People will tell you all kinds of stuff in life, and surely any adult with a modicum of processing ability will try to sift the sensible stuff from the ridiculous stuff - and at least maybe look into it, if it interests them, rather than just assuming that it must be a lie?

If there's no such thing as a 'conspiracy', then the government and police are by far the biggest wacko conspiracy theorists of all - as they frequently charge with and accuse people of 'conspiracy to X'.

If anybody tells you that the governments of Russia, North Korea, China or Iran are up to outrageous stuff that they're hiding from their own citizens and the world at large, it's pretty much taken as a given that they must be conspiring to nefarious ends; but if anybody ever suggests that the UK, US or other western governments might not be telling the truth at all times - in spite of so much evidence to the contrary in the past and so-called CTs dismissed as crazy that have since been admitted to be true - they're just a bonkers conspiracy theorist without a sensible thought in their head.

It's just as crazy to believe that there are no actual conspiracies as it is to believe that everything is a conspiracy.

my absolute favourite is that Finland doesn't exist 😂😂😂

If the twin towers didn't collapse then there wouldn't be a huge gap where they once stood.
Or am I missing something? ( admittedly I've never been to ground zero or NY , but I know a few people who have and they haven't mentioned seeing the towers still standing ? !)

That's exactly what we said. He said something about mirrors but I walked away. He's deranged.

I knew someone who believed the moon we see is a projection, put there to conceal moon bases that were established in the 60s. This person also used the word "sheeple" and was partial to ending sentences with. FACT.

Anyone who is interested in the Q anon conspiracy, I highly recommend the BBC podcast about it, iirc it's called The Coming Storm. Absolutely fascinating about how a conspiracy around the Clintons before he became President evolved into Q anon.

wandawaves · 19/05/2024 14:12

I like the MN ones, but they've disappointingly been banned.... remember the bison troll? The water troll? Pretty sure the water one involved the Royal family being lizards. Bison troll was my favourite, it was just so.... pointless. But i feel like we were just about to find out what was going to happen when the visible bison from across the ocean made it onto the mainland... and then they were banned (again). I was so curious to find out what the bison were going to do! Who ever knew bison were such a concern?!

CormorantStrikesBack · 19/05/2024 14:13

My favourite is the one about birds not being real but that they’re drones.

The moon doesn't exist and is a projection by nasa.

Which is super weird as NASA was formed in 1958 but the moon has been around a wee bit longer.

Are there really people who think this?

OttoandHoney · 19/05/2024 14:15

I had a taxi driver telling me there are people in Dubai who are changing the weather. My fave is hollow Earth theory though! Find it interesting but don’t believe of course!

The thing is though the people I know that are well into the various conspiracy theories, not all of them but a sizeable majority are the type that don’t like authority anyway so won’t believe what the government/ establishment tell them but are happy to believe without question what some random puts on twitter without question. Bizarrely the anti vac people I know are on the whole the ones who are also shoving illegal drug’s up their noses every weekend but wouldn’t have a vaccine as they didn’t know what was in it

moonshinies · 19/05/2024 14:19

@ArchaeoSpy
But your details only work for some things. Covid deaths in hospitals for example don't work. As it would mean so many doctors and nurses and auxiliary staff pretending people were dead.

SinnerBoy · 19/05/2024 14:27

A neighbour I now avoid as much as possible was wanking on about clot shots and how nobody had died of Covid. All death certificates were faked, with the doctors being paid £150 for each one they wrote.

Echobelly · 19/05/2024 14:29

The Tartarian Empire is a hilarious one https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2021-04-27/inside-architecture-s-wildest-conspiracy-theory

covid conspiracy theorists I know say no more people died than usual it was just that deaths were put down to Covid if a person tested for Covid or had tested positive for Covid in past x number of weeks before death. So someone could be hit by a bus and if they went in hospital with near fatal injuries from that and died if they tested positive for Covid death would be put down to Covid. I’m not supporting this btw just saying what I’ve heard said

Mrsdyna · 19/05/2024 14:32

For those mentioning Tartaria not being an empire, I have a very old globe that shows that it existed and was large. Just saying.

Echobelly · 19/05/2024 14:34

I had friended a primary school friend on FB but during 2021 I had to block her because she posted that she overheard two nurses from a local hospital saying that the hospitals were empty and they weren't doing anything, but they'd 'been told to keep in quiet' (because of course, every single member of NHS staff would just keep quiet and do no work and delay everyone's operations because they were told to). This was on top of Trump supporting (despite being the UK) and other lunacy about vaccines. I did wonder if her account had just been taken over by bots, but then she did also post normal stuff like holidays and going out for a meal so clearly these were her genuine views. I was kind of watching with fascinated horror but the nurse thing was the final straw, especially as our lovely nieghbour opposite had just returned then from 8 weeks in hospital having very nearly died from Covid. 😡

penjil · 19/05/2024 14:50

I think there is some truth to some of them e.g JFK murder and the faked moon landings.....but then crazy people take something that could be a cover-up, run with it, and go wild, so it becomes ridiculous, and no-one believes in it....so it then has the opposite effect.

They ruin any potential genuine curiosity and truth.

RedBananas12 · 19/05/2024 14:53

Not my favourite, but my newest one.

Cory Gamble being a CIA operative.
I fell into a whole rabbit hole last night with it
