Just curious, really!

It was a tiny central London flat, and three years.

NoImRenlea · 14/05/2024 17:36

Went to university in York and bought a lovely flat there straight after. Stayed for 4 years before moving to Cambridge for post grad (where I met H2B) then we moved to London

useitorlose · 14/05/2024 17:39

The first property that I bought, 6 years. Moved in with one husband, got divorced, moved out because I was engaged to another!

ApolloandDaphne · 14/05/2024 17:42

First home was a flat on a busy street. We stayed in it for 20 months but we wanted a garden and parking so we moved to a semi detached house which we stayed in for 9 years

AgnesX · 14/05/2024 17:47

The first flat we rented, 2 years and moved because of noisy neighbours. Second flat we bought, 3 years later moved because of noisy neighbours. This flat, a decade later and resigned to noisy neighbours.

If I ever win the lottery it'll be a totally detached house.

UnravellingTheWorld · 14/05/2024 17:51

5.5 years. Bought a small flat as a single person, sold with a husband and toddler. We now have a house and I never want to move again 🙈

mynewusername2023 · 14/05/2024 17:53

24 years and still here!

HeddaGarbled · 14/05/2024 17:53

22 years! (I did move into a house my H already owned first though, and we were only there for 2 years).

fungipie · 14/05/2024 17:54

3 years and we had to move on for work. Would have stayed longuer otherwise.

AllAtSeaAgain · 14/05/2024 19:05

2 years, then DHs job meant we had to move. We kept it on and rented it out for about 11 years (whilst we lived in work provided accommodation) and then sold it to buy something bigger.

I liked it, but we were engaged to be married when we bought it, and had three DC by the time we sold.

burnoutbabe · 14/05/2024 19:07

It was a small London flat, 22 years ago.

Still here!

I gained a partner in that time but he doesn't take up much space.

LBFseBrom · 14/05/2024 19:07

Nearly nine years (too long). I hated it, moving gave me a new lease of life.

Hedgeoffressian · 14/05/2024 19:10

Just over 10 years.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 14/05/2024 19:12

First place after childhood home? 6 months (6m rental, didn't renew contract).

First place I bought? 14 months (bought with partner and relationship collapsed).

Ankylo · 14/05/2024 19:48

Still there going on 9 years in 2 months

Expo23 · 14/05/2024 19:54

My plan was 5 years. However, when I started looking to upgrade a few years ago and realised how much bigger all the bills would be I decided there was actually nothing wrong with my house and if I stayed in it I would have a lot more flexibility by the time I was 50-55. If I moved I would be working in a full time job a LOT longer. I am happy with my two bed house and the prospect of retiring and pickong up a 9-5/going reduced hours in the next few years.

Nellieinthebarn · 14/05/2024 19:56

My exH and I bought a nice 2 bed flat, we moved to a house when DD was 2, so we stayed in the flat 4 years. It was a lovely flat, really well laid out and good proportions and had loads of storage. The three bed house we moved into felt smaller because there was lots of wasted space, dark paint everywhere, and nowhere to put all the crap. But it had a garden, and we had another baby on the way so needed the extra little bedroom.

WearyAuldWumman · 14/05/2024 20:01

If you mean the first house that I owned, 38 years. Still living in it.

SummerSazz · 14/05/2024 20:04

First flat I bought, 4 years. 2nd house 20 years and counting

App13 · 14/05/2024 20:08

Bought my first property in 2005, and felt I could see my children playing in the garden. 20 yrs on almost still there and don't intend to move

flyerlight · 14/05/2024 20:08

10 years, I hate moving house. Had to move for schools but planning to stay in this house until the youngest finishes education.

Toomuch44 · 14/05/2024 20:09

3 years - gave up meeting Mr Right and bought a flat, to find Mr Right living upstairs! We lived in our second home together for 15 years, this one 10 years and could well stay here for rest of our lives.

Rocknrollstar · 14/05/2024 20:10

54 years and still here!

Librarybooker · 14/05/2024 20:13

This house is our first house, we had a flat before this. In the time we’ve owned or had a mortgage on this house we have lived in Australia, France and the US for short periods.

Cotswoldbee · 14/05/2024 20:22

3-Years.
It was a dump but my Ddad helped me to do it up (teaching me loads about decorating etc in the process) and I made a decent profit on selling.
Stayed in my next house 31-years.
