Just curious, really!

6 years, covid made us miss our families and allowed us to work fully remote so we moved back to our home town and got a much bigger house than we could have afforded where we were

TeenLifeMum · 14/05/2024 20:35

Rented for 9 months
owed for 2 years - tiny cottage with damp but house prices went up and we got promotions so could afford our next step house.

We are in our first house and I literally hope to die here. It's exactly the home we've always wanted and we waited until we were in our 40s to buy. I can't imagine not passing it on to the dc and they've already said they want to keep it after we die. I joke that the only way I'm leaving is in a body bag! (It's a really lovely house!).

MavisPennies · 14/05/2024 20:37

9 years for the first one we owned

GameOfJones · 14/05/2024 20:42

7 years. DH and I bought it before we were married but by the time we'd had DDs and needed space to work from home we had seriously outgrown it. We did love our little house though and think of it fondly.

Lived in home with parents for 24 years , bought our first home and have lived there for 23 years. We have no intention of moving ever, it was stressful enough the first time.

The only places I’d move to is the village I grew up in or somewhere beside the sea, but I don’t ever see that happening. .

A year. Two bedroom semi detached bought with an ex. After three months it turned out he was cheating so house went on the market. Took nine very long months for the sale to go through, neither of us could afford to move out until it had so we did our best to avoid each other within a very small space.

First flat I moved in after leaving home: 3 years, we left because we moved away. May have moved on the medium term anyway though.

First house bought - 9 years, sold because we wanted more space and were in a black hole for schools and DD turned 3.

BCBird · 14/05/2024 21:17

First time buyer 24 years ago. Still here. Leaving next year

Work2live · 14/05/2024 21:19

Bought a new build with now DP, now DH. We hated it and sold it as soon as our 3 year fix was up!

mondaytosunday · 14/05/2024 21:22

First property I bought I owned for two years. Second and third and fourth and fifth the same. Then I think three years until i bought with my future husband and we stayed there eight years until he passed, then 18 months, 18 months, then eight years. Have been in my current home almost three years with no plans to move. I think I've missed a home somewhere in there!

Petal7 · 14/05/2024 21:31

6 years. Had to move to fit in DC3!

DrJonesIpresume · 14/05/2024 21:35

First place we bought - a year. It was the 1980's and prices went up like a rocket, so we nearly doubled our money. We were so lucky.

fudgesmummy · 18/10/2024 11:32

Still in our first house 40 years later!
it’s a rather tatty semi-detached Victorian house (built in 1886) and could do with a serious makeover.
As I’m becoming more disabled with severe osteoarthritis in both my hips it’s a real struggle to get up the stairs but we would hate to move.
Anyway I always say that moving would upset the cats too much 🙂
