Only Fools and Horses (the cluttered but very cozy looking flat), all the lovely friendships and Grandad's dinners ♥️

Downton Abbey (something about it makes me want to get into bed on a dark night with the lamp on)

The Crown. The music just mesmerizes me

Gavin and Stacey. So much love and affection in both families

Derek with Ricky G. Again, so much love in that care home

(Side note - I absolutely love Friends but wouldn't say it relaxes me or that I'd want to be in their shoes. Too much dating / job struggling! More of a Saturday afternoon thing than Sunday night viewing... oh never mind I know what I mean)

It used to be 'To The Manor Born' or 'The Good Life'. The music especially!

Also 'The Golden Girls' and 'Cagney and Lacey' and 'Sex and the City'.

There was a series in the early 90s called Tales of the City which I Loved and was so going to move to that street!

BurntBroccoli · 13/05/2024 18:34

Forgot the Detectorists! Such lovely warm telly.

FridgeJenga · 13/05/2024 18:44

Bluey, with my 11 yr old DS 🥰

Fraiser. It is still comforting TV after all these years. They're all slightly annoying, but endearingly so. Even Eddie.

@SeatonCarew Do hope your DH was ok?

Yes thank you @AutumnalLeaves38 , he dodged the sepsis by the skin of his teeth and lived, he's here with me now. 😊💕

AutumnalLeaves38 · 13/05/2024 22:33

@SeatonCarew That's wonderful to hear 😊

Michael Portillo’s railway journeys with his trusty Bradshaw’s guide…

Unsure if it's been mentioned yet, but on BBC "Have I got news for you" with Paul Merton and Ian Hislop as captains with a different host each week plus a guest on each of the captains' teams. I love it when someone from one of the political parties are guests as they get the pee right totally taken and they're usually equally laughing at themselves too.

Ian and Paul are SO rapier witted and make me laugh - they're like naughty, knowledgeable schoolboys with the audience as co-conspirators. Ian in particular reminds me of mischievous "Just William" from the Richmal Cromptan books.

Bill Bailey was the host on the episode I saw last night - talented man and more than held his own. Funny man. 🌹

Gone Fishing with Paul Whitehouse & Bob Mortimer.

I have no interest in fishing, but the show is really wholesome and funny, when it finishes you just feel better than you did before it started.

I feel exactly the same. Hate fishing but love this and love their friendship.

Gavin and Stacey

That camping programme with Johnny Vegas.

35andThriving · 18/05/2024 16:56

Mrsjayy, it really is great. I watched a segment on a programme once, it was a lady that worked in the wardrobe department for Derry Girls. Honestly, her love for the programme really shone through. It was lovely.

Edited

Me and my adult dd bonded over it, it was something we watched together or spoke about it once she moved into her own house, I forgot how much I love it.

Myomyo · 18/05/2024 17:25

The good life, I’ve rewatched it so much over the years

IJemimaDigging · 18/05/2024 19:38

To The Manor Born
The Darling Buds of May
The Durrells
The House of Eliott
Detectorists
You Rang M'Lord
Ghosts
Strictly
Blackadder
dinnerladies
Downton Abbey
Call The Midwife (early series)
The stop motion animated series of The Wind In The Willows from the early 80s. 😊 It's utterly joyful.

For many of these, I think It's the theme tune. They are instantly relaxing. For others, it's good childhood memories.

@LyndaSnellsSniff that you used the correct lowercase for dinnerladies fills my heart with such joy. It's the best of programmes.
