Good Morning Mumsnet? What's everyone up to today?

I'm just about to take my first cuppa and sit in the garden for an hour, listening to (mostly) birds flitting about & chirping away. The neighbour's children aren't out playing yet, which is surprising.

I'll hang the washing when the machine finishes, and put some more in while we get sorted.

We're off to a local retail outlet with a lake this morning, dd2 wants the make up shop there and I want something for a colleague who's leaving on Friday 😥 . I did suggest the coast for ice cream & a bag of chips but both girls looked at me like I've grown an extra head 🤷‍♀️ .

We're nipping to Primark too for dd1 who needs to replace her fake Converse again. I suggested maybe invest in proper ones but am not sure she won't wear through those as quickly.

We'll probably eat out somewhere while we're there - there's a few places with outside seating we can have a wander to when we're done shopping.

When we get in, I have a Vinted parcel to pack up & then it'll be a shower and settle down to the last few episodes of Lucifer for me. Dd2 will probably make a start on homework, although I think she did that last night, and dd1 will carry on Suits.

What about all of you? 🌞

Good morning @lucysmam.

I'm also sitting with my first cuppa in the garden. Two oldest eating breakfast, little one still asleep.

It is going to be another hot sunny day here but we have two indoor activities on 🤦🏻‍♀️ one scouting fundraiser and one birthday party at a trampoline place. All that should be done by around 3 and I hope to be sitting in the garden chilling with an iced coffee by 3.30pm.

Not sure on dinner but I have some mince to use so probably something quick with that.

Have a great day!

We live in Anglesey so have our pick of lovely beaches. I am heading to my childhood favourite with my 3 boys, a friend and her son. We have the cool bag packed, some toys and body boards. Looking forward to a rare scorcher here!

OooohAhhhh · 11/05/2024 09:23

I'm taking the kids for a nice stroll to the local park this morning. Later on we're off to Scarborough in the camper van and will park up for the night on Marine Drive along the sea front. Then wake up in the morning having missed all the Sunday morning traffic and enjoy our day at the beach!

Babyhasalottosay · 11/05/2024 09:28

Beautiful day here. Just drinking a coffee listening to the birds.

DD is currently poorly and we are waiting various tests and results so all feeling pretty anxious. We are going to set up the paddling pool and bbq some burgers and try and have a chilled day.

Also feeling like I'm the only one who missed the northern lights last night as if taken a sleeping tablet. Some of the photos are fab

Usernamewassavedsuccessfully · 11/05/2024 09:28

A nice day here so will be washing sheets (when I can drag myself out of bed) and trying to do something in the garden. Incessant rain has turned it into a weed filled jungle and I need to sort it out. Will persuade the teenager to step away from A level revision later and take me to the pub for a couple.

DrJonesIpresume · 11/05/2024 09:30

I've been on our local facebook page looking at all the fantastic photos local people have posted of the aurora last night.

Soon off to London to see the Royal Ballet matinee.

LizzieBennett73 · 11/05/2024 09:31

Sat with a coffee listening to the birds in the garden and enjoying the quiet before the neighbours start gardening Grin am extremely cross that I took painkillers last night after pulling a muscle in my back and missed the northern lights (am a keen photographer).

And even better, DH is at work for the morning. Contemplating walking dogs before it gets too warm (very lovely here in Gloucestershire).

Meeting dd1 and her mother in law to be to go wedding dress shopping

Whataweirdsituation · 11/05/2024 09:32

Morning all! ☀️

Iced chai in hand, waiting for the others to finish in the services before completing our drive to Bournemouth for the day. I’m not a beach person really but it’s been a long week and the idea of DS keeping himself entertained in the sand for hours really appealed 😂 Will eat some chips on your behalf @lucysmam !

CassandraProphesying · 11/05/2024 09:32

We’re going on a dump run! Yay, I love a dump run!! Probably have a nice coffee and a wander along the beach on the way back. Then prepare dinner in advance ahead of the viewing pleasure that is Dr Who and Eurovision this evening.

Simonjt · 11/05/2024 09:33

Good morning, we’ve got really nice weather here in Southern Sweden, its going to be early twenties next week.

We’re still in Malmo, we haven’t ventured out yet today, we’re a bit tired as we went to Copenhagen yesterday and didn’t get back until very late. We’re having a lazy morning and afternoon today, so probably just a trip to the park and lunch out. We go home tomorrow night, so I’m going to load up the camper a bit today so we have less to do tomorrow.

We’ve got the eurovision final tonight, even the acts don’t know whats happening with Joost yeah, so that is causing quite a bit of tension.

mechanicalpencil · 11/05/2024 09:33

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone 😊✨

I also missed the Northern Lights last night@Babyhasalottosay so you’re not the only one! Last check was around 11:00 and nothing but they might be back tonight!

Still in bed, just had tea and crumpets.

Today’s plan : Washing, cleaning the bedroom and office, then off to the Garden Centre.
Then back for a nice dinner in the garden … not sure what yet.

Happy weekend everyone!

Kim82 · 11/05/2024 09:35

Good morning everyone. I was up super early (5.30am) for absolutely no reason today, I just couldn’t sleep so I’ve already tidied the house, showered and washed my hair and I’m waiting for my Tesco delivery which is due any minute.

Dh is at work, the two older girls are still asleep and dd9 and her friend who stayed last night are awake in her room.

We’ve had a guy here all week putting new block paving on the back garden and he said he should be finished by this afternoon so once he’s gone I plan on sorting the rest of the garden, putting up the new garden furniture and just enjoying the sun.

We’re having pasta bolognese tonight which we can eat outside and I might have a couple of glasses of wine too and I’ll stay out there as long as possible!

Pascha · 11/05/2024 09:36

All my white washing is on the line blowing in the breeze. It makes me so happy. Next load is on and I'm drinking coffee.

Ds1 and dh are away til tomorrow night so Ds2 is having a friend over tonight. I need to dig the airbed out but first I have a to go to the post office and also buy eggs.

Such a lovely, mundane, chill morning.

JMAngel1 · 11/05/2024 09:41

Morning all
Gorgeous sunny morning here - I’ve had a practically zero sleep night though as have been on call throughout the night and I never sleep whilst in between bleeps
Up out early this morning to the optician - it’s sooo hot already. I’ve been caught out as not summer arm ready (no fake tan and haven’t shaved under arms!) so I will have to keep my mini trench jacket on over my cami and sweat!

I will pick up DD1 from a sleepover on way home and then me and DD2 will go for a walk. Then much needed housework - it’s been such a busy stressful work week, the house is upside down!

Then will visit my Dad and come back to pizza night and a film. I’m in the mood for something comforting but no doubt DH will want something oddball wacky or action!

Then definitely an early night as I probably only got 3 hours total last night.

Peridot1 · 11/05/2024 09:45

Morning all.

So enjoying the sunshine!

I’ve been up for ages and have had lots of tea and been clearing up after having friends over for dinner last night. Had some toast with peanut butter. Have done some washing - having to wash all my jumpers as we have a bit of a moth issue.

Planning on finishing planting some plants I bought during the week. Need to pop out to pick up some medication. Might cut the grass. DH will do the main bit but I’ll do the edges and around where the washing line is.

Then I am hoping to sit in the garden with a book later. Lamb chops on the bbq for dinner. And hoping to see the northern lights as missed them completely last night.

Tommalot · 11/05/2024 09:47

Summer arm ready 🤣 haven't heard that one before.
My legs are milk bottle level but I barely care; I've had them out all week.
Ten years ago I'd have been there with the fake tan before daring to even wear pedal pushers! Quite liberating now to just wear what I like.

Oldraver · 11/05/2024 09:50

I'm joking at having a chill after a busy couple of hours. Got some washing out and waiting for OH's flannette bedding to finish. It takes two loads as it's so heavy

Done sausage sandwiches and prepared dinner as the boy will eat his before work at 3pm. I'm psyching myself up to go weeding in the front garden

ShipshapeShore · 11/05/2024 09:57

@Ymamiss lucky you! I wish I was there. We're frequent visitors to Rhosneigr and every time I cross the bridge I think "I'm home" even though I've lived in the midlands all my life. Have a great day!!

Doyouknowdanieltiger · 11/05/2024 10:01

Morning everyone 😊.

Lovely day here, washings on the line and I've just fed DS1 (3 months).
DD1 and 2 are playing lego but DD2 is very hard work (nearly 3) constant whining also has a cold, it's going to be a loooong weekend!

Making some bottles then popping in the shower. Shopping later for a few bits hopefully the toddler doesn't have too many meltdowns!

AlisonDonut · 11/05/2024 10:02

It's gonna be a scorcher here in the SW of France today.

I've fed the garden cats, and the cat that was stuck on the roof came down the bodgeit and scarper staircase I made for him last night. I've gone back to bed to try and get some sleep as the house cat was having a bad one at 4:30 and kept me up for an hour. But I'm back up again, have made bruschetta for breakfast and I'm just having a coffee.

I need to go to the top shed and bring out all the trays of tomatoes, tomatillos, aubergines into the sun to catch some rays as they are so behind this year. It is due to chill and cloud again tomorrow.

I'll start to plant more veg outdoors and in the polytunnel. It's harder to nudge the garden cats out of it this spring as they spent the last 7 months hiding from the rain in there [rain started here on 18th October and basically didn't stop for 6 months and since then, it's been two thirds rainy days with the odd dry one in between].

I got a good deal on some pre made pastry last week so I'm going to do some cooking when it is too hot to be outside. A onion, pepper and feta quiche, a rhubarb and apple crumble and a fresh loaf I think.

And this evening we are off to the neighbour's for aperos at 6.

Icantremembermyusername · 11/05/2024 10:03

I’ve been up since 4.30! Done all non noisy cleaning. 2 loads of washing out :-) DDog just had breakfast number 1 (number 2 is finishing my breakfast). I’ve made a pot of tea so going to wake up the other half and tip him out of bed so I can wash the sheets! And hopefully put them back on the bed while they are still sun warm.
