I'm just about to take my first cuppa and sit in the garden for an hour, listening to (mostly) birds flitting about & chirping away. The neighbour's children aren't out playing yet, which is surprising.

I'll hang the washing when the machine finishes, and put some more in while we get sorted.

We're off to a local retail outlet with a lake this morning, dd2 wants the make up shop there and I want something for a colleague who's leaving on Friday 😥 . I did suggest the coast for ice cream & a bag of chips but both girls looked at me like I've grown an extra head 🤷‍♀️ .

We're nipping to Primark too for dd1 who needs to replace her fake Converse again. I suggested maybe invest in proper ones but am not sure she won't wear through those as quickly.

We'll probably eat out somewhere while we're there - there's a few places with outside seating we can have a wander to when we're done shopping.

When we get in, I have a Vinted parcel to pack up & then it'll be a shower and settle down to the last few episodes of Lucifer for me. Dd2 will probably make a start on homework, although I think she did that last night, and dd1 will carry on Suits.

What about all of you? 🌞

Good god what a dreamy day - bit too much exercise for my liking but the rest is ace!
Hope your date goes well

Morning @lucysmam!

Up at silly o clock to drop DD at stable club and then we went straight to the butchers and farm shop. The sun has not burned through the clouds yet and it's decidedly chilly, I'm sitting in the catio with my hoodie back on!

I need to catch up on some housework today, before going to watch DD ride later. Hoping the sun will put in an appearance by then.

Steak and blue cheese salad for tea, and possibly a glass of wine.

Good morning lucysmam & everyone. Envious of all those going to the beach as I’m working, although I could always pop down afterwards. Love swimming in the sea but have been put off by all the reports of even more sewage dumping than usual 😡 Sitting looking at the dishwasher & thinking that I really should unload it as there’s a lot to go in. DH finishes work at lunchtime then will go to fetch DD15 from her GF’s. Don’t usually watch Dr Who but I haven’t seen any episodes with the new actor & I really like Milly who plays Ruby Sunday. She was fab in Corrie. Will watch Eurovision too. Ollie Alexander said on the radio yesterday that his odds of winning are apparently 1%! Hoping to catch The Northern Lights! Nearly forgot about food - was planning a mini roast but think we’ll have battered fish, oven chips & peas for tea instead.

Sun is shining, shirts on line will be in before we go out for a late lunch at a (much oisher than our normal eating establishment because H "zero" birthday and his mum will be disappointed if we do acknowledge it some how) one of those high up places with a view, fingers crossed the teens behave!

Evening chilling listening to Craig Charles funk & soul show with no cooking later, doors open to garden, cocktail in hand, bliss.

Morning!

I've just had a full MOT shower and about to put some instant tan on.
Then heading to the shops with DD for some bits for today's BBQ.
Then having family BBQ at my parents.
Pimms will be flowing so will stay there the night.

Gorgeous weather, enjoy everyone!

Good morning @Lucysmam and others. I was up very early, had two coffees and then tea and toast while I waited for the bedding wash to finish. It's been on the line since eight. I've tidied the kitchen then did an Aldi shop. Then I decided to go to the local garden centre and get plants. Just finished when my two grandsons ran up. I was invited to breakfast with them, DD and Dsil so that was very nice. I came home and planted most of the begonias and fuchsia. I've had another cuppa and I'm about to check the washing. Then plant pea and carrot seeds, both inside and out. And plant strawberries too. Thunderstorms are forecast for here later, so I need to get everything done first. Trout with salad for dinner later. Enjoy your day

Good morning Lucysmam and everyone. Lovely weather here in the south east today but I am recovering from a horrible cold bug so planning to do very little today. I do need to pop to the shops for a top up shop and get some washing done but apart from that will try and have some much needed r&r.
Will be watching Dr Who and last Hunger Games with DD tonight so probably a takeaway to enjoy for that.
Hope everyone has a lovely day!

I have one load of washing on the line and one in the machine.

Made DS pancakes and washed up from last night.
Other than that, I have pottered in the garden, scrolled Northern Lights photos, and drunk coffee in the sunshine 🌞
Bliss

CosmosQueen · 11/05/2024 12:41

I guess it’s a good afternoon from me!
So far today I have been pottering at home. I walked the dog very early (7.30 am), came home and tidied up, spent an hour sorting out a border at the bottom of the garden, had a shower and changed, sat in the garden knitting and listening to a podcast for an hour and cooked the lunch.
More sitting outside this afternoon, bliss 😊
edit: the postman has just delivered 80 bedding plant plugs so I guess that’s this afternoon sorted!

Thanks, I really try to make the most of my weekends 😊

The day just got better - I’ve been given a complimentary glass of champagne! 🥂

Cleaned bedroom and airing the house. Just about to clean the garden furniture and help DD with a job application. BBQ and DHs strawberry Mojitos in the sunshine later, with Eurovision on in the background. Switzerland for the win!

Good afternoon lucysmam and all.

Late up today because I was up watching the sky last night. Absolutely wonderful to get the Aurora Borealis down here.
One of the nicest thing was that I rang my son, to get out there and see it down in Hertfordshire and he said that was one thing off the bucket list. It was the most inarticulate phone call ever, mostly excited laughing and breathless “wow”s.

So this morning was not the most active for me.
DH was down on the land with the mower, stating that this was his first opportunity, as the land has been too waterlogged.
I did some writing for a talk I am giving next month, did some laundry and pottering and prepared strawberries and cream for part of our brunch.

For the rest of the afternoon I will carry on sorting books in the study. I have already found quite a few duplications and fewer no longer wanted ones, which went to the charity shop during the week, but I'm building up another lot.
Either a takeaway curry or tuna pasta bake for dinner tonight. There's a band on at the village pub, so I might look in.

DilemmaDelilah · 11/05/2024 14:04

Good afternoon @lucysmam . We are on holiday in North Devon at the moment, so I started the day with an hour in the swimming pool. I'm relaxing today because I am pretty exhausted, my DH went for a wander with his camera this morning while I say and looked at the view of the sea towards Bideford Bay. This afternoon we're watching a film, and later on I will have another hour in the pool.
Our evening meal today is a selection of Chinese food from Asda, so little to prepare and little to wash up. We will eat on the patio in the sun looking towards the sea and will probably sit out there until it begins to grow dark and we can watch the bats.

Tomorrow will start with a swim, then a trip to a local garden centre for a look round and a carvery lunch in their very well recommended restaurant,, followed by another swim. I'm not able to do a lot of exercise at the moment so I'm trying to get as much exercise as possible and to build up my fitness by swimming at much as possible. It is very nice to have a whole week off with no responsibilities!

GameOfJones · 11/05/2024 14:05

Good afternoon everyone!

I was gutted to miss the Northern lights last night. I was in bed early as I've been feeling ill the last few days so I slept through the whole thing!

Luckily I woke up feeling better as DH is working today so I am looking after DDs. I've pegged out some washing and we had a couple of hours in the garden. DDs were (mostly) playing nicely so I got to lie on the sun lounger for a while and referee their football game from a distance 🤣.

We had lunch outside, just some sandwiches but I love eating in the garden when we can.

DDs were a bit tired out from all the activity in the sun so we're now inside watching a film. I've vacuumed and mopped downstairs but it's so hot I'm going to leave upstairs until later. I'm currently sat with a cold drink and am looking forward to a G&T in the garden later.

Snacky tea tonight in front of the TV and DDs are extremely excited as I'm letting them stay up late to watch their first Eurovision. Hopefully the Northern Lights will be back and I won't miss them again!

PickupaPension · 11/05/2024 15:59

DH and I walked through the park for brunch to a little Asian cafe, it’s about a 40 minute walk through the park. Then had a photo printed and chose a frame. Bumped in to friend so we went along with her to a little micro brewery and sat in the beer garden for a drink. Walked back through the park and got home recently, ended up out for 4 hours. Now laying on garden sofa under a shady tree. Friends round tonight for Eurovision bringing a European dish and drink each.

@Ymamiss lucky you! I wish I was there. We're frequent visitors to Rhosneigr and every time I cross the bridge I think "I'm home" even though I've lived in the midlands all my life. Have a great day!!

Thank you! Love Rhosneigr - it gets crazy in summer though!

Did a half arsed attempt at some weeding. Didn't realise how bad it was until last night. Bedroom blinds are always closed. 1 because my bedroom leads onto a conservatory and has a French door on side and a full patio door on the other side and 2 because I don't want the lady opposite to think I'm a slattern. I needed to sort the conservatory out last night for the floor fitting and that's when I saw how bad the garden was. Pretty sure the constant rain hasn't helped much. It looks better than it did but there's still loads more to pull up. The worst part is all the long grass that's growing in patches through the concrete. That is a twat to pull out. Weather depending I might do a bit more on Monday when I've got some thicker gloves so I don't keep getting stabbed by thorns or nettles.
