Dd’s was dada despite me trying my best for mama. Dh was dead chuffed.

Ds on the other hand was mama.

OP posts:
Castlerigg · 08/05/2024 12:48

DDs was "quack quack"

Cheepcheepcheep · 08/05/2024 12:49

Mama for both - DH was slightly peeved 😁

Aparecium · 08/05/2024 12:52

Icky.

Ds fell while toddling and saved himself by putting his hands down on the muddy ground. He stood back up, looked at his hands, then held them out to me and said, "Icky".

😄

Thing is, icky was not a word we used - so where had he got it from? Unless it was 'mucky' in toddler-speak.

CuttingMeOpenthenHealingMeFine · 08/05/2024 12:53

DS was Dada and DD was Mama

Cas112 · 08/05/2024 12:53

More hahaha

LargeSquareRock · 08/05/2024 12:54

3 kids. Dada, dada and IPad.

I swear we are strict with screens so have no idea why DC3 came out with that.

PeppermintParty · 08/05/2024 12:57

Apart from babbling mama and dada, The first proper word that my DD used to say and I knew what she actually meant was 'up'. She used to say it whenever she wanted me to pick her up.

Danikm151 · 08/05/2024 12:58

Hello

totally out of the blue one day

Edenmum2 · 08/05/2024 13:06

Lots of animal noises first but the first word she distinctly said was 'hay'

(We were at a farm)

Didn't say mummy until she was 2!

spiderlight · 08/05/2024 13:08

Car. And it's all he's talked about for the ensuing 17 years.

MinervaMcGonagallsCat · 08/05/2024 13:18

No and bath

ViveLaOeuf · 08/05/2024 13:25

DC1 - dada
DC2 - bear

Bookkeepermum · 10/05/2024 06:40

"Mama" for both of mine.

Ankylo · 10/05/2024 06:53

Dada. But I don't think he knew what it meant. I suspect a lot don't.

Emmz1510 · 10/05/2024 07:44

I can’t quite remember which was first but it was either ‘ta-ta’ (goodbye) or Peppa, with mama fairly soon after

mrsed1987 · 10/05/2024 07:47

Duck and then quack when he was 10 months old.

Have a 4 week old so looking forward to the learning new things stage all over again!

Radiatorvalves · 10/05/2024 07:50

Car.

it went on for a long time with Health Visitor expressing concern. He went on to become a complete book worm and is now at uni having a fab time!

Yeah I think that's just repetitious baby babble rather than an attempt to say a particular word with meaning.

Mine said flower and neigh.

BurbageBrook · 10/05/2024 07:57

Mama, then 'hi'.

Jokl · 10/05/2024 08:04

Dada, but tractor was the first clear word reliably used in context. Then dog. Then hi and bye. Then mama. Bit rude really 😂

Oneofthesurvivors · 10/05/2024 08:05

The dogs nickname

Marmite27 · 10/05/2024 08:06

DC1 - mama
DC2 - Sis-ta

WillYouPutYourCoatOn · 10/05/2024 08:10

Girl twin, "dangle" as eldest DS used to tip her over his knee and say it. She just repeated it one day.

Boy twin "kaboom" as we put on a little fireworks display for their birthday. Which was quite remarkable as he said nothing else for months.

Naptimeagain · 10/05/2024 08:11

No! Said quite forcefully too.
