Dd’s was dada despite me trying my best for mama. Dh was dead chuffed.

Ds on the other hand was mama.

DS's first words were "mummy" and "dog." Despite DH's best efforts, he didn't say "dad/daddy" until he was nearly 2.

Toomuch44 · 10/05/2024 08:37

I used to tell DD she was a 'good girl' and I could tell she was starting to copy me. However, she didn't have a true first word - as she started to get her mouth around forming words she put words and sounds of them together and also make up her own - ie we'd say butterfly, and she'd stay guttaga with a cheeky look on her face and keep pointing at them calling them guttagas. She was quite advanced at talking, but a very late walker.

Gouda, as he was eating a slice 😂

Gettingbysomehow · 10/05/2024 08:49

DS said mama. Then cat. He's always loved cats.

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 10/05/2024 08:49

Blue. Deal or no Deal was at it's height and it was on whilst we made dinner. I d shout blue blue at the screen and one day he joined in.

JuniperAndTonic · 10/05/2024 08:52

Dada and then Mama, but I’m not sure she knew what they meant at first just babbles.

First proper word was cat! Closely followed by duck.

caringcarer · 10/05/2024 08:54

DD nana carcar cat
DS1 dada
DS2 mama nana

Stickthatupyourdojo · 10/05/2024 08:56

Dc1 - mama
Dc2 - hello

UnravellingTheWorld · 10/05/2024 09:02

"up", clear as day. I've literally never heard a baby pronounce it so well

Closely followed by "ummah". Took me several weeks to figure out he was saying "vroom" 😂

ProjectKettle · 10/05/2024 09:17

"More" - said at a mealtime. She's been very motivated by food ever since 🤣

WeightoftheWorld · 10/05/2024 09:19

Castlerigg · 08/05/2024 12:48

Same here, DDs was a very emphatic ‘up’, she loved being carried!

EnglishBluebell · 10/05/2024 18:19

I can’t remember 😬 I think it was "Doggie"

SonicTheHodgeheg · 10/05/2024 18:21

3 kids - Dada, Duck and Dada

Singleandproud · 10/05/2024 18:22

"'ere ee is" my Parents cat jumps up on the windowsill from outside and we always used to say "here he is" every time he did it and one day DD started joining in.

Favouritefruits · 10/05/2024 18:33

DS1 Hiya
DS2 bus

FaeryRing · 10/05/2024 18:35

DD’s was dada followed by ‘light’ (pronounced ‘dight’)
DS’s was dada (again 🙄) followed by ‘car’ which he said last week! Just pointed at a car and said ‘car’ very clearly. I almost jumped out my skin!

Bumblenums · 10/05/2024 18:37

Hole 🤣 the day before DD had been walking round the garden with her gran who was complaining about all the holes in the garden caused by DDog. The next day I had a hole in my tights and she pointed at it and said 'hole' 😂

RafaFan · 10/05/2024 19:47

The dog's name.

QueenOfWeeds · 10/05/2024 19:52

Dad here, too. “Dada, dada, dada, DAD!” whilst he was driving. Followed by “uh oh”, “quack” and, several months later, “mama”. I’m still cross that she said quack first.

PurpleChrayn · 10/05/2024 19:57

"Aba" meaning "dad" in our language 😭😁

Saschka · 10/05/2024 19:59

“There” while pointing. Well, more like “Da! Da!” while pointing excitedly at cars, dogs and whatever else had caught his eye. He used to say “up” as well when he wanted picking up, but that was more of a random screech with his arms outstretched.

Heatedblanky · 10/05/2024 19:59

My son said “door” (it kept swinging shut near his high chair and my daughter said “ducks” (we were feeding them crusts).

Bumblebeeinatree · 10/05/2024 20:04

Duck, she did love the ducks in her bath.
