Worked 11 hours.
Walked 15k steps.

Breakfast - protein powder scoop blended with spinach. 150g greek style yogurt.

Lunch - homemade veg soup with light coconut milk. 2 slices lightly buttered granay bread. Tin of tuna in spring water.

Dinner - turkey mince in a wrap with mozzarella and tomato ketchup (work ran late, was meant to be on a baked potato)

Snack - 5 cups of tea, 2 Maryland cookies

Yes I'm bored

Why do you need a protein shake for breakfast? I'd rather skip it and just have the soup and tuna sandwich for lunch.

Unless you're hungry for breakfast of course but if you are, why not just eat breakfast?

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 07/05/2024 00:02

Very interesting, thanks all. Few replies gave me a laugh too.

Not a fan of eggs, I'll only eat them in an omelette (or cake!) but I do eat them once or twice a week. Not a huge fan of fruit or veg, am slowly trying to improve on this.

I also don't like pasta and would only take about a tablespoon of rice when having that (don't like the texture).

Love bread and potatoes though!

Tomorrow is
B - Yogurt and green smoothie
L - cheese baguette, granny smith apple
D - homemade chicken and broccoli bake with homemade wedges
S - tub of cottage cheese (i actually like this)

Have you tried Lidl cottage cheese? They do full fat and reduced fat versions and the texture is so much better than any other I’ve tried. It’s really thick and creamy, not wet and sloppy like most others.

Beck30 · 07/05/2024 00:36

A bit light on fruit & veg. I'd maybe try to replace the biscuits with fruit, nuts etc. Could also replace mince with less processed meat (diced etc).

Dontfuckingsaycheese · 07/05/2024 00:50

I woke up latish and had a fat-free cherry yogurt.
I then made porridge with almond milk, honey, walnuts and flaxseed (ground, my new thing)
Then I had a nap.
Kind of sleep-ate cream-crackers (6) with butter and 50% fat cheese.
Then I had another nap.
Wandered into kitchen later and had a whole pack of Lunetta Spritzen. My ds picked me up a few packs in the Netherlands as it reminds me of our trip to Amsterdam when he still wanted to go on trips with his mum.
Them I had another nap. Didn’t have my first coffee until about 7pm.
it’s been one of those sort of days 🙄

There's no vegetables or fruit, aside from the blended breakfast spinach. This is not good.

If you're going to have yogurt, get real greek not greek style.

Lunch okay but the tin of tuna on the side I find weird. Maybe so hungry you had it thinking it's protein so fine? :(

Dinner bizarre.

And then, after all that effort, you eat biscuits?

fieldsofbutterflies · 07/05/2024 07:35

It all sounds a bit bland and tasteless to me - like cafeteria food rather than actual meals.

HereComesEverybody · 07/05/2024 07:49

Why are people not counting your homemade vegetable soup as veg?

Yesterday I had:

2 x weetabix with low fat milk, small glass of fresh orange juice, proper coffee with low fat milk

Mid morning: another coffee

Lunch: homemade spiced Moroccan style chickpea soup (onions, carrots, celery, garlic, tinned tomatoes, Chickpeas, Spices, baby spinach, chicken stock & loads of fresh coriander. 2 x slices of brown soda bread with real butter.

Dinner: Chicken salad - lettuce, tomato, cucumber, 1/2 an Avocado, red onion, herbs, rotisserie chicken breast meat, homemade dressing (olive oil, red wine vinegar, dijon mustard, honey, salt & pepper

Homemade fruit salad: Melon, Pineapple, Strawberries, Raspberries, Blueberries, green grapes, satsuma & lime juice

Water to drink. I'm on a healthy eating phase & have lost 27lbs since January.

PurBal · 07/05/2024 07:58

Did you enjoy it? If so then that’s great!

Can you explain why diced meat is better than minced please?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 07/05/2024 08:05

Why are people not counting your homemade vegetable soup as veg?

Or indeed the spinach in the smoothy? Honestly some of the responses are like entering a parallel universe.

Catsinpartyhats · 07/05/2024 08:13

I didn't enjoy the dinner, but it was a quick fix before I ate everything in the cupboards while also cooking chili and eating that too. It was filling.

The veg soup (don't know why it doesn't count as veg?!) was delicious. Greek style yogurt was all I had in, it's lovely too. Sometimes have it or Greek yogurt or Kefir.

Are 2 small cookies really that bad?

Nice to hear other menus, thank you all for your replies. How I wish I liked salad but the texture is not for me.

It is only 1 day; some days are better, some are worse.

OP posts:
Catsinpartyhats · 07/05/2024 08:15

Most are probably worse tbh...

I'll not post what I had on Sunday, it would shock I fear 😁

A bit weird just eating a tub of cottage cheese or a tin of tuna.
It looks like very little food to me, I'd be starving!

Devilshands · 07/05/2024 08:16

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/05/2024 23:54

Your breakfast, in particular, sounds horrible. What’s wrong with scrambled eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms?

Lunch: reasonable, dinner: yuk.

You need more fruit and veg.

OP had a tin of tuna in spring water alongside soup...maybe I'm crackers but that sounds so far from reasonable!😂

IOMQuestions · 07/05/2024 08:28

Really not convinced about protein powder it’s not regulated and can be made of any old shit and you are t low in protein in what you are eating.

hm coleslaw with an oil dressing or citrus dressing is very easy way of adding more veg testily to any meal. Add nuts, apple , courgette, whatever to the basics.

Beck30 · 07/05/2024 08:29

NigelHarmansNewWife · 07/05/2024 08:03

I'm tend to think that mince usually contains the fattier part of whatever type of meat it is. I guess with turkey maybe that's less of an issue though compared to beef, pork or lamb.

MissyB1 · 07/05/2024 08:33

apart from the soup (I love a veg soup!) it doesn’t sound very tasty. Here’s mine.

No breakfast (I do 16/8)
Lunch: porridge with a mix of different seeds, handful of nuts, and 4 prunes.
Afternoon snack : slice of toast with a banana. A satsuma .
Dinner: seafood pasta bake, bowl of mixed berries with full fat greek yogurt.

Threads like this always smack of an OP being rather pleased with how little they’ve eaten.

2andadog · 07/05/2024 11:54

Sounds perfectly fine for an 11hour working day to be honest. Maybe a bit low in calories (I guess you're in a deficit/are a small human? :) )

Try and add more fruit and veg as said. I also use Huel/Protein smoothies for breakfast as need to make sure I have 30-50g of protein per meal so completely get the breakfast smoothy, but maybe add blueberries and a banana to it?

No vegetables?! What about the home made soup made with vegetables

and why can’t someone have two biscuits a day- why do you say” all that effort?”

Maddy70 · 07/05/2024 12:07

I would lose tbe protein powder. Its just artifical crap. Get your protein from meat lentils fish eggs etc
