Most loved adverts?

Following on from the current 'most hated adverts' thread, which adverts are people secretly enjoying?

(probably more fun to talk about hated adverts but presumably some of us like them otherwise the advertising execs wouldn't produce them?)

I quite like 'you think you've got grief but I'm running out of briefs'

The series of adverts for Budweiser, with the frogs and the chameleon/lizards mobsters Frankie & Louie

An advert for a car (can't remember which one) where the customer asks if they only do it in black, and the salesman says, in an American accent 'we have noir'

The Boddington's beer rip off of the cornetto advert

God, I'm showing my age here, but 70s & 80s ads were the best

I like the "running out of briefs" one too.

I like the dog looking at squeaky in the washing machine saying "Wha' doing?"

I like the EE one with the catchy music.

SpeedwellBlue · 05/05/2024 00:24

I used to like the Tetley Tea Folk ad

BouleDeSuif · 05/05/2024 07:45

I liked the Jean Claude Van Damme Coors ones too. "My nipples were so cold they were talking to me."

Old ad now but the Berlitz language course one -
Distressed captain - “May day, may day, we are sinking!”
(Very) German coastguard - “Hello, this is the German coastguard. What are you thsinking about?”

😂

Country Life butter (hence my username)

Oh we are the lads from Country Life
And you can't put a better bit o' butter on your knife.
If you haven't any in, have a word with the wife
And spread it on your toast in the morning.

Hadn't expected that third line to win favour with Mumsnet.

It's Country Life, it's English too.

As the buttermen wave a Union Flag, grrrrrrr. I think I wrote to complain about that when I was around 12. I can't remember if I got a response.

Years ago there was a car advert which was just lots of kids saying bugger. Then you cut to a bloke, with child in the backseat, picking up the unleaded pump, realising it’s a diesel car and saying bugger. It was funny and banned after about a week because, apparently, kids swearing isn’t funny.

Back when Theirry Henry used to advertise Renaults I had no idea he was a football player. My now husband laughed for about a week when I asked why the Va Va Voom guy was on match of the day one Saturday.

There was a funny car ad with two small boys talking like middle aged men, and the parents like children. One little boy looks at the parents and says kindly "Aw, they're tired!"

The Tampax advert from the early 90s that parodies the Baywatch credits and has 'Its my life ' by Dr Alban. Unforgettable 🤣🤣

I've just seen a longer version of the Barclays advert with the 7 year olds as adults.

The new bit has a kid at his retirement fretting he's not saved enough to live on😢
