Awww, I would be too. How can something so pretty be so cruel😂
Are you OK? Or did you have to 999 it?

Roryhon · 02/05/2024 16:33

I didn’t know that they bit.

SpringLamby · 02/05/2024 16:34

They bite??

tracktrail · 02/05/2024 16:34

I'm pondering how to muzzle a ladybird...its been a long day

BestNewsSinceLePouDied · 02/05/2024 16:35

It's not the ladybirds' fault, it's their owners! Irresponsible, should know how to control their pets/ insects... 😂😂

Ineedwinenow · 02/05/2024 16:36

My foot got attacked by a Hedgehog so I feel your disappointment 😆

DontPlayInMySandbox · 02/05/2024 16:36

I didn't know either (that they could bite).

I was thinking maybe counselling.
For the ladybird, obviously. It's a Wrong'Un .

Oh no that's really made me feel sad. It was the only creature I held because I thought they didn't bite and had full on conversations with as a young child. I even sang to them. Maybe you have a mutant 😁.There's always one that spoils it.

DontPlayInMySandbox · 02/05/2024 16:46

Well, I am old and have never heard of a ladybird biting.
Will go for a Google!

I think you had one of the imposter ones. I can't remember what they're called but they're invasive.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 02/05/2024 16:48

Ladybirds are the Dolphins of the Beetle world. Look cute, murderous little fuckers when nobody's paying attention to how they actually behave.

I've held that against Ladybirds since the Summer of 1976 when my mother burst out laughing and started telling anybody she met how funny it was that I imagined a Ladybird bit me when 'everybody knows Ladybirds can't bite'. Got me on my squidgy 3 year old arm, too - it's never stopped me from enjoying letting them run up to the tip of my index finger to fly away, but I've never trusted them since.

Apparently they carry STDs 🤮 luckily you can’t catch it OP (unless you are, in fact, also a ladybird 🐞)

It was a red one with black dots. Just looked like your ordinary, lovely ladybird. It was stuck in my sleeve though. Maybe it was desperate.
I'm already making excuses for it.

What? I can't cope with any more bombshells.
I have got the bodyshape of a ladybird.

Must have just been a nip. I can't think they could break the skin. They probably get a bit scared .

purplecorkheart · 02/05/2024 16:53

I have not seen Ladybirds in years. Used to see loads of them but not one in the last few years.

Pixiedust1234 · 02/05/2024 16:54

They were recorded as bitey little things when the UK had a plague of them. Was it in the 70s?

Yes it was. Perhaps they were thirsty so were drinking our blood 🤔
The hot summer of 1976 saw swarms of ladybirds infesting towns and cities across the UK, with many people reporting being bitten by them.

Mymiddlenameiscynic · 02/05/2024 16:54

In the summer of 1976. - I was sweet 16 and the summer was loooong and hotttt. I lived on the coast and there was a ladybird invasion. And they BIT.

Google it, it's true, I lived it.

DontPlayInMySandbox · 02/05/2024 16:54

From Google;

Ladybugs are indeed capable of biting humans. More often than not, they prefer not to bite, but when they do, ladybugs bite with surprisingly sharp mouthparts.

Little Spotty Fuckers

OP posts:
NoBinturongsHereMate · 02/05/2024 16:55

They do bite if stressed, and harlequins¹ more than native British ones.

¹ Which are also red with black spots, the difference is fairly subtle - slightly more oval body, a marginally different pantone shade of red, and I think larger white cheek patches.

SpringLobelia · 02/05/2024 16:56

They have such stingy little bites don't they!

I once had to rescue a little robin who had fallen down the chimney and got stuck. It attacked me with its tiny little beak and was so cute. (It was also fine and unharmed... as I was as well).
