Anyone else really affected at the horrific murder of Daniel Anjorin?

Another brutal attack taking the life of an innocent young boy. This news has really affected me today, I couldn’t see another thread. His poor parents and family, just a young kid going to school.

I hope the police get to the bottom of it so justice can be done.

How could anyone not be horrified by what happened?

Grandmasswagbag · 01/05/2024 19:25

Yes it’s absolutely terrible. I have a feeling it’s going to be a similar scenario to the Nottingham attacks. MH services and police services crumbling. There seem to have been more of these incidents in recent years.

Spacecrispsnack · 01/05/2024 19:26

Well yes @TheOriginalFrench I suppose that is a ridiculous thing to say. It just seems like young people are so often falling victim to these awful attacks.

@Grandmasswagbag was just saying the exact same thing to DH.

It's just so awful. His poor poor family. I can't imagine what they must be going through right now.

ALovelyCupOfNameChange · 01/05/2024 19:27

I heard one of the witnesses today I wish they’d not broadcast what they said. It was horrific. That poor poor boy

It seems Daniel went to the same school that Grace did

it’s awful. Any accident or death of a child is bad enough, but this seems so random.

we should be able to trust that our children can walk to school safely without being attacked like that. His poor parents, they must be devastated

HatchetHarry · 01/05/2024 19:29

It is awful. The video of the police shouting to lock doors made my blood run cold. It's not, but that looks like my parent's row of houses, my point is it could have been anywhere. Random crazy bastards are not predictable, that poor boy ☹️

ssd · 01/05/2024 19:29

Its really horrific.

ABitMadYeah · 01/05/2024 19:29

Deeply affected. It’s really, really upset me. Poor child and his poor family. It’s just unspeakably awful. Just an innocent boy going about his daily life and brutally murdered.

I hope the bastard who did it rots in hell.

Efh · 01/05/2024 19:32

Utterly awful, poor boy and poor family. But becoming a common theme in our big cities these days.

You’ve got to imagine that the sword man has severe MH issues to do something as terrible as this. And we don’t have enough MH services/adult SS to deal with people like this so he would easily have slipped right through the non existent net.

The man who killed the 2 young Nottingham students in the street was put in some kind of psych hospital, not prison, claiming diminished responsibility for killing them.

I think it’s all a consequence of the breakdown of health and social services.

SharpAzurePanda · 01/05/2024 19:33

Absolutely devastating. The lives of his neighbours, friends, schoolmates and most of all his family will have been changed in a blink of an eye.

Apparently the women running away and sounding the alarm tried to warn him but they think he didn’t hear them shout due to his headphones. There will be so many “what ifs” just hanging in the air. So tragic.

Zafloraqueen · 01/05/2024 19:34

Devastated and have shed a tear over it!! Absolutely horrific. Poor boy. Can't imagine how his loved ones are feeling right now.

Such a bizarre and tragic coincidence. Couldn’t believe it when I heard that on the radio earlier.

Nappyvalley15 · 01/05/2024 19:38

So very sad. Just a kid on his way to school.

JSMill · 01/05/2024 19:38

I had to wipe away the tears when they showed his picture in the news. He was just a kid walking to school ffs. I am sick of reading about children and young people with lives full of promise being murdered in our streets. We need to do something about knives in this country. It's one of the reasons I get so angry at the government's obsession with Rwanda etc. The Home Secretary should be focusing on this not bloody Rwanda.

Spacecrispsnack · 01/05/2024 20:18

Totally agree @JSMill

Really terribly sad.

It’s just your worst nightmare isn’t it, a random act of violence, wrong place at the wrong time.

The photos of him - he looks so sweet, and so young.

I agree with @Efh that the issue of poor mental health services / support (lack of funding, community care etc) may turn out to be a factor here.

WilmaFlintstone1 · 01/05/2024 20:27

They’ve just charged someone with murdsr.

Amx · 01/05/2024 20:27

Absolutely heartbreaking. I read that people tried to warn him but he has his earphones in.

Devastating for all who knew him. RIP Daniel.

Willmafrockfit · 01/05/2024 20:28

such a sweet looking boy,
so very appalling.

BirthdayRainbow · 01/05/2024 20:29

I wonder how qualified some of the MH service workers are sometimes as I can't believe that everyone who does this has bad MH. It seems like a rather convenient reason tbh.

RIP Daniel 💐

Will you still be saying this if the killer turns out to be a paranoid schizophrenic acting under terrible delusions?

Bovrilla · 01/05/2024 20:32

It's just awful, my son is the same age and it really made me emotional when I saw his picture. His poor family.

Spacecrispsnack · 01/05/2024 20:34

I always wonder how police are so quick to discount terrorism as a cause when it’s a white perpetrator. Maybe it’s when they realise it’s someone with serious MH problems they’ve encountered before?
