For me it has to be sea glass. I often find some on the beach and stick it in my pocket then find it ages after.

Tomato ketchup sachets
Dog poo bags
Mini milk bones
Trolley token

lovemycbf · 29/04/2024 22:54

A small tin of neals yard arnica salve as I'm clumsy and bruise easily 😅

Many things that would appear random to other people:
Various finger splints, thumb splints (different sorts) knees braces and supports, and compression gloves (all thanks to arthritis - I never know when pain will strike in a particular joint).
Medication for throughout the day (you would need to be a pharmacy to tell what they are for, but I know).
A packet of lube so if I need to remove and reinsert my pessary I can.
Can you tell there's a bit of a theme here? 😵‍💫

@vipersnest1 that's awful. I really feel for you. Never knowing when you'll need them.

Well, at least I've got them, so can usually sort myself out (although one of my finger joints is so painful I'm actually considering asking for the finger to be amputated below the painful one, if I can't get the joint replaced so it's pain free - I know that sounds like a huge exaggeration but it's true).
And thank goodness for my tens machine. I'm waiting for an appointment to get some nerves burnt out on my lumbar spine, but that won't happen until February next year at the earliest.
Osteoarthritis is portrayed as far less serious, but its effects are pretty horrible and there are no treatments that can damp it down.
Sorry for the rant! 🙈

A fossil!

It used to be random bits of kinder surprise toys, I have a tiny bag that I currently use and I think it has two fossils in it. oh and a child’s tooth I keep forgetting to dispose of, fossil of the future 🤣.

We regularly walk on a beach with fossils..

You see plenty at robin Hood's Bay. Some can be found on our beach too. There's dinosaur footprints on RHB beach.

Rant away @vipersnest1 . It's a dreadful illness. How long have you had it?

Some bits of it probably around thirty years but I've only been properly diagnosed in the last ten years (I'm approaching sixty now so this has dominated my life for a long time).
My diagnosis only came when I finally got x rays that nobody can deny.
I'm also waiting for physio for my cervical spine (neck in other words) as I have a bone spur pressing on a nerve at one level, and a bulging disc at the level above. This is a last ditch attempt before I have the spine in that area fused.
I've been fobbed off for years being told 'normal wear and tear' - it isn't.

Loose chillies or garlic.

frenchfancy81 · 29/04/2024 23:26

Stones, sticks, chocolate coins.

alrightluv · 29/04/2024 23:26

@vipersnest1 sadly your story isn't unique. So many are fobbed off. I hope you do get help asap.

Thanks @alrightluv. Sorry to bring the general mood of the thread down.

alrightluv · 29/04/2024 23:43

@vipersnest1 no you haven't. Life's a bitch and we all need someone to rant to.

Very intersting thread!

In my pockets you can often find cat's eyes. They are tiny shell-like pebbles that come from sea snails, it's basically the door they build to protect their soft bodies. They are uniquely beautiful, with a spiral on one side and interesting round shapes and colours on the other. Any time I spend time by the sea (which is most days) I look for them and have developed quite an eye for them!

My lovely Mum died 10 years ago. Last night I decided to wash her bag …it is a Radcliff cotton/ nylon bag . I checked the pockets and found £100 . My lovely Mum loved charity shops . Have donated to our local hospice.💕

alrightluv · 30/04/2024 00:27

@Noyokymum that's a lovely thing to do.

A gadget that bluetooths to my phone and can run an ECG just using my finger tips

A pack of hot hands (instant hand warmers) although they will shortly be removed until next winter

NoTeaNoShade · 30/04/2024 03:36

A pen sized travel stain remover for clothes. Ashamed at the frequency I need to use this Blush

sashh · 30/04/2024 07:01

I have a handbag inner with lots of pockets that I move from bag to bag.

Amongst other things a blood glucose kit, a mini first aid kit (which contains scissors) and has been used more than once. Alcohol gel. a notepad, various pens, wrist splints (if they are not on my wrist). A towel thing that you wet and put round your neck to keep cool.

Jeannne92 · 30/04/2024 07:07

Tape measure so I can measure clothes in shops instead of queuing for changing rooms (and buy for DH and DC when they're not there.) Also for furniture.

Metal cutlery for eating lunch at work (I work all over the place.)

Jeannne92 · 30/04/2024 07:07

Sachets of sugar for DH's hypoglycaemia.

FindingMeno · 30/04/2024 07:16

Stomach tube for a cow has to be the winner so far 😂
My bag is boringly empty and organised.
