Just curious really.

OP posts:
Hoolahoophop · 29/04/2024 13:35

200k split between the kids
100k into pension
50k charity donations
100k house deposit
50k holiday and rainy day fund.

TheOnlyMrsW · 29/04/2024 14:02

Pay off all debts & mortgage (£180k), £50k each to the kids and put the rest into our pension pots. Paying off the debts will free up nearly £2k per month so make life an awful lot easier!!!

Blackcats7 · 29/04/2024 14:16

Pay off my debts, have my bathroom made into a disabled friendly wet room so that I can have a shower for the first time in five years, raised beds and safe path in garden so that I can go outside without risking another fall, stick a bit in the bank in case of need and the rest (probably about £400k) to local animal charities and friends who need help.

MuggleMe · 29/04/2024 14:23

Pay for my SEN child to go to the perfect independent school that I otherwise can't afford. That'll take at least half.

Okisenough · 29/04/2024 14:25

complete all the house improvement projects that need to be done!

PeppermintParty · 29/04/2024 14:46

BunInTheOven3 · 28/04/2024 20:23

It’s yours to keep! You can do whatever you like with it.

But would it be classed as deprivation of assets if I shared it between my kids so they could each put it towards a house and then I ended up needing to go into a care home as I'm already retired.? If I could pass it on to them without worrying, then I would.

notzoe · 29/04/2024 14:54

I’d buy a nice big 4x4 porche

DrJonesIpresume · 29/04/2024 15:03

I'd start looking for that elusive country cottage I've had in my mind's eye for the last 50 years!

Blamhe · 29/04/2024 15:06

Pay of my mortgage
Buy DH a new ( second hand car)
Put some away for 3DC
Save the rest

Relaxd · 29/04/2024 15:14

Pay off mortgage £100k no penalty, invest £350k in isa and bonds, 20k house repairs/updating fund, 10k holiday fund, 20k rainy day fund / family treats.

Tara336 · 29/04/2024 15:23

Move to a bigger home, give some to DD to help her move home, some to DM to finish renovating hers, save some.into pension and the rest as a nest egg

HairyToity · 29/04/2024 15:55

Do up my house, change car, pop rest in savings for time being. I wouldn't let children know about it till they are much older. The money would be my secret shit hits the fan kitty for them.

ArchaeoSpy · 02/05/2024 19:13

i would wait to see if it was mine, first then id look at stock market

MiserableMarch · 02/05/2024 19:35

Not sure, I'd like to move house but I maybe better using that amount eg 150 grand to expand the one I'm in.

Or move but I'm not sure I could upgrade that much.

I would put at least 100 grand into a sipp.
Bump up isa etc.

Definitely put some by for long jail trips.

Pay for dd to go to private school and put money onto a sipp for them also.

So in the short immediate bettering of our current arrangement.

Cherryon · 02/05/2024 19:37

Report it and send it back.
It’s not my money, someone will come looking for it and keeping it would be fraud.

the80sweregreat · 02/05/2024 20:00

I'd report it too. It's bound to be flagged up eventually, so I'd get in first.
Maybe the real owner might give me a hundred for being truthful. Although knowing my luck they wouldn't ! lol
( bank's cock up, why should they tbf )

DisforDarkChocolate · 02/05/2024 20:04

Children - £25,000 each so £100,000.

Second home that will turn into main home in a few years - £300,000 maximum including stamp duty etc.

Rest for a holiday, saving and pension.

Nothing very exciting at all.

Jellykat · 02/05/2024 20:04

OP did say it was yours to keep..
so @Cherryon and @the80sweregreat i'll have yours! Grin

DinaofCloud9 · 02/05/2024 20:08

I'd be straight on the laptop emailing work with my resignation letter.

Then I'd be booking a holiday.

the80sweregreat · 02/05/2024 20:16

Oh ok! I didn't read the original post that well
Oh well, if we can keep it I'll buy a house.
Definitely leave work.

CatherineDurrant · 02/05/2024 20:20

Buy a property for me and start a charity to run a former Sure Start centre for local families. Desperately needed around here.
