I'm a waxing virgin, and I want it all off. What do I need to know?!

Want to whip it all off downstairs, as a surprise for my DH as we're going on a romantic weekend away next week.

I have never waxed or been waxed and I'm worried, not only about the pain, but also the indignity (although I've had a child, so I guess that went years ago!) and also the regrowth uncomfortableness, particularly around the a-hole and the bits closer to the inner vulva.

Any tips, tricks or general advice?

No they don’t - it thins but it doesn’t drop out completely for many women. Besides, there’s a a massive difference between ‘do it because oral sex’ (not true btw) annd what you see in the proliferation of porn, and having thinning public hair because of falling oestrogen.

If you want to be smooth and you're now a little uneasy about waxing, I'd suggest using Veet over the whole area and then finishing with conditioner and a razor.

Long term, laser is your best bet for slow regrowth and no rashes. I got a some salon treatments and now maintain with a Philips Lumea.

Edited

It did for me and several of my friends, there is no regrowth post menopause for many. I had laser treatment and could stop because it wasn't regrowing at all due to menopause.

Also it's only your personal experience really isn't it? For me it does make a massive difference. So for me it is true btw. I prefer oral sex without hair in the 35 years I've been sexually active. No one has ever coerced me and I've never watched porn. 🤷

Of course it’s only personal experience - if it’s important to you and it makes a difference then knock yourself out. For others, including me, the difference was negligible and wasn’t worth the cycle of pain and itchy regrowth.

My friends and I haven’t noticed it all falling out post menopause and when I worked on the wards for a while I saw plenty of pubic hair on older women - it had thinned certainly, but not bald.
