Mine are interesting. There blue-green and have been since I was 1. I’m 63 now. Most people think there green until they get up close. I get a compliment once a week on my eye colour. Some people put blue on my ID others put Green.

hazel

but look like dirty dishwater to me, I hate them

Kandalama · 25/04/2024 12:37

Thought I’d post some stats for you MNs
I added pics of amber eyes and I have never heard of that eye colour before but I think a few people on here have described it.

Hazel. I think it makes a nice contrast with my blond hair and pale skin :).

Mine are brown. I really like blue eyes and sometimes wish I had them, but I'm content with my brown eyes. It's what God gave me. I know you can have the brown lasered off to reveal the blue underneath, but I'm not interested in such a vain body modification. When I'm in a particularly low, depressive and self-deprecating mood, I say "I'm so full of shit, my eyes are brown." It raises a smile or two.

You can do what now??!

VolvoFan · 25/04/2024 15:05

@TheCoffeeNebula the brown pigment in hair, eyes and skin is melanin. The more melanin you have, the darker you are. For the iris, the brown pigment is made by a layer of pigment producing cells in the iris itself. Laser depigmentation surgery disrupts the layer and then in a few weeks, the brown pigment slowly disappears as the body's immune system clears away the damaged cells, then the blue or green colours underneath will slowly appear. It's a very permanent change, hence why there are colour contacts.

TheCoffeeNebula · 25/04/2024 16:28

No, I understand that it's possible, and how it would work, I'm just trying to understand why anyone would risk doing that to their EYES for the sake of iris colour, and why any professional would be willing to carry that out on someone. Blargh.

Edit: I could maybe understand it for someone who had one brown eye and one blue and was very distressed about it for some reason and wanted to have eyes the same colour. But just to change both your eyes from brown to blue? Dear God.

VolvoFan · 25/04/2024 16:36

@TheCoffeeNebula Exactly. Worse surgeries are carried out, but I agree it's frightening what people do sometimes.

CowboyJoanna · 25/04/2024 16:36

Mine are light brown.

afaloren · 25/04/2024 16:49

Hazel and yes. Sometimes more brown, sometimes more green. My husband says I have mood ring eyes.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 25/04/2024 16:55

Hazel, at the murky green end.

Yes, I like them.

SusanSHelit · 25/04/2024 16:57

Mine are amber /orange) gold with a very brown almost black ring.

They do look quite striking

I'd swap them for a pair of more 'ordinary' colored eyes that worked properly though! (if you could ever call anyone's eye colour). I can see, but I've needed glasses since I was a small child.

So I like the colour, minus points for actual functionality. 7/10

augustusglupe · 25/04/2024 17:00

Hazel. They’re more of a moss green colour now I’m older. I like them.

longtompot · 25/04/2024 17:08

Blue and I like them

burnttoad · 25/04/2024 17:14

Amazing how many people have green or hazel eyes considering it's not that common

MidnightMeltdown · 25/04/2024 17:19

Mine are brown.

I've experimented with contact lenses in various different colours and none of them suited me - after a day I was desperate for my brown eyes back!

I think it's because brown eyes have depth and the darker colour stands out more, whereas when they were lighter they just seemed to disappear into my face (if that makes any kind of sense!).

DP has blue eyes and I like them on him, but I would kind of like to try some brown contacts on him to see whether or not I prefer them! 😂

When it comes to eyes, I lean towards extreme risk aversion Grin

Absolutely, me too. Your eyes are the most precious thing you have.

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 25/04/2024 17:49

Hazel. I have no strong feelings about them one way or the other tbh!

Berlinlover · 25/04/2024 17:53

Mine are blue and I love them.

Mt61 · 25/04/2024 17:57

Giggorata · 25/04/2024 01:46

Grey green with an orange ring around the pupil (heterochromatic)
They look OK but I wish I had a proper colour.
I can't put all that on the passport.

Edited

Bet they are very rare & unusual 😊

SittingBackAndWatchingTheClowns · 25/04/2024 17:57

Mine are green. I like them, and they work very well indeed.

UmaniCaroline · 25/04/2024 17:58

Blue and I like them.

AddictedToBooks · 25/04/2024 18:25

I have blue eyes - they tend to change their shade from a deep almost navy blue to a pale blue.
I love my eyes - they're literally my only feature that I like.

NewMe2024 · 25/04/2024 18:29

Mine are blue-green and I really like them, but I think all eyes are nice. There’s no such thing as a bad eye colour. They look especially good if you know what colours to wear to make your specific eye colour ‘pop’.
