Or is it just me?!!
I'm 43 so my "best years" well and truly behind me!

drowningbutwaving · 22/04/2024 21:20

Also 43 and I feel like that. Saw some pictures from 20 years ago recently and it really hit home.

Porageeater · 22/04/2024 21:21

Shut up! You’re only 43.

Glitterboobz · 22/04/2024 21:22

What??!! At 43? Nope, I'm the same age and can't relate at all.

Titsywoo · 22/04/2024 21:22

I'm 45 and don't feel like that at all! I mean they might be behind me but I have plenty of plans and things I would love to achieve. You're still young not 90!

Sooooootired01 · 22/04/2024 21:23

I don't really have any plans as not much money! Perhaps that's it?

plumcake2924 · 22/04/2024 21:23

I'm 30 and feel that way 😭

LifeExperience · 22/04/2024 21:23

I'm well into my 60s and I don't feel like that. Retirement is great!

Northernsoul72 · 22/04/2024 21:23

I'm 51 and I don't think like that. I certainly look a little different but I try to thinkabout the good things ahead or me, I'd think what is the point.

EmmaEmerald · 22/04/2024 21:24

Best years in what way?

AhBiscuits · 22/04/2024 21:25

I'm 43 and do feel a bit like that. I'll have retirement and hopefully loads of holidays in 20 years but I feel like I'll be too knackered to really enjoy them, based on how permanently wiped out I am now.

Sooooootired01 · 22/04/2024 21:25

@EmmaEmerald I guess I struggle to see that anything much exciting is going to happen in life now really?

OP posts:
qwertyqwertyqwertyqwerty · 22/04/2024 21:26

I don't feel that way. I'm aware that time is passing and there are fewer years ahead. I'm also aware that old age and ill health could be very tough.

But I hope I have pleasant times to come.

ViciousCurrentBun · 22/04/2024 21:26

Ages and stages.

It’s finding purpose at each stage of life. I’m retired early and have really enjoyed voluntary work I’m doing and the art and dance classes I have been taking.

It is a bit harder to have firsts anymore but we had one recently. We rented a motorhome and went to South Wales for a week and had a glorious time. I also saw Puffins for the first time and a beach waterfall.

I think a lot also depends on if you are happy or at least ok in a relationship if that’s what you want and access to cold hard cash.

Sooooootired01 · 22/04/2024 21:26

@AhBiscuits No chance I'll be retiring until I'm at least 70!! 😂

BigMandyHarris · 22/04/2024 21:27

It depends what you mean by ‘best years’.

I disagree anyway tbh

Sooooootired01 · 22/04/2024 21:27

@ViciousCurrentBun Married yes. Cold hard cash, definitely not!

Flaoty · 22/04/2024 21:28

Not at all. I’m looking forward to seeing my children grow and enjoying more freedom as they become independent.

I’m particularly enjoying this stage of life where I don’t care what others think. It’s refreshing.

EndlessVortex · 22/04/2024 21:29

I’m 36 and I feel like my best years are just beginning now! Why do you think you have nothing to look forward to?

fiddleleaffig · 22/04/2024 21:29

Oh no. I'm 39 and feeling the best is yet to come.
But i had all my dc between 19 and 31, so I've spent my entire adulthood raising children, and they are beginning to reach adulthood and the world is starting to open up more to me and where people may have travelled in the 20s, then settled in their 30s, I'm now looking forward to those years of freedom and travel.
So my point is, I guess it's more life stage than age, and the path your life has taken you so far

Pigeonqueen · 22/04/2024 21:29

I’m 43 and I feel like that but I also think a lot of it for me is that I’ve developed some really awful chronic health issues that have taken my mobility and sense of fun away from me. If I was still physically healthy I doubt I’d feel this way.

watchuswreckthemic · 22/04/2024 21:29

Not at all! 42 here and I love that I have more opportunities at this age. I have more freedom at work and at home.
Happiness means different things to different people.
Hopefully you can find some inspiration on this thread 😃

Yes - I feel exactly the same. I have done all of life's big milestones so I kind of think what next...

I'll enjoy some nice holiday and time with family, maybe climb the career ladder. But apart from that.... When I was in my 20's I was so excited for the future !

BigMandyHarris · 22/04/2024 21:30

why ever not!

I think more exciting things have happened to me since I turned 43?

Sooooootired01 · 22/04/2024 21:32

@Flaoty I only see my almost 17 yo EOW but you're right; it is so lovely to see the wonderful young man he has become. I am soooooo proud! My 14 yo I see more of; again, he's a great lad. My little girl is only 3 (almost 4) so won't be independent for quite some time yet but she's cute so that helps!

Guess I need a lottery win!!
