These are from online catalogues. The kids look swamped in these!

They look ridiculous. Poor babies.

I love them. I think they're adorable. Same reason I sometimes put bunny ears on my baby. Adorable.
Also baby turbans as little soft hat. So cute.
I refuse to change my opinion.
Sometimes it's joyful little things that make people happy. Tiny headwear of any kind is one of those things.

Ha ha. Very funny.

VisitationRights · 22/04/2024 10:49

Only cute if the baby has her ears pierced and she is also wearing a pink velvet Juicy couture track suit. So, no, they are tacky and terrible.

Loathe headbands on baby girls. Entirely pointless.

Member968405 · 22/04/2024 11:35

Awful - I’m sure they must be uncomfortable for the babies as well? Definitely not as comfy as a bare head, anyway. Utterly pointless.

KreedKafer · 22/04/2024 11:42

Not my thing but it's also not harming anyone, so who cares? Babies will pull them off if they don't like wearing them, much like they do with hats.

FlabMonsterIsDietingAgain · 22/04/2024 11:57

They look cute, but they're babies they'd look cute in any kind of hat type thing.

I can't get het up about a big bow. Never put DD in them because she wouldn't keep a basic beanie on her head so a bow never stood a chance. Much like baby socks, they're a pointless item of clothing because you spend more time picking them up than they spend wearing them.

Totally.

Many times my baby girl was mistaken for a boy because she didn't wear one of these and often wore colours other to a pink. It's really not a big deal. I just corrected them. Now my baby son gets mistaken for a girl because he has golden curls. Again, not an issue. "Actually he's a boy." Job done. No need for tacky semiotic markers of girlness or boyness.

I had exactly the same... both of my boys had beautiful blonde curls and looked quite girly until after toddlerhood/they had their first hair cuts. Even when dressed in blue dinosaur dungarees etc.!

I actually thought it was pretty cute and didn't give it a moments thought beyond "I have such a beautiful angelic looking boy" and finding it amusing 🤣

Fully expecting my girl to wear the same blue dinosaur dungarees (and various other items of "blue/boys" clothing) at some point... it'll be interesting to see what kind of comments we get!

CactusMactus · 22/04/2024 12:46

The second picture - the baby looks like an elderly woman in her headscarf and bangle!
Awful.

Previousreligion · 22/04/2024 13:20

I hate headbands and bows on babies. I think they are a hazard and look silly. My child did wear one a few times to appease my Mum who'd bought them for her but I whipped them of as soon as she'd gone.

Cute, ridiculous & just plain silly are essentially the same thing though, aren’t they?

HcbSS · 22/04/2024 13:28

They look absolutely hideous. Just like babies in earring.
Grow up! it’s a child, not a doll!

luckylavender · 22/04/2024 13:55

Horrid

True, they're not dolls. But babies being essentially quite dull and demanding little creatures, personally I found dressing them in ridiculous outfits to be one way of mitigating the tedium. Bows were never my thing, but both my babies spent a large part of the Christmas period dressed as reindeer or Christmas puddings.

midlifeattheoasis · 22/04/2024 14:21

I hate them with a passion. Even a headband with a small bow makes me irrationally annoyed

blacksax · 22/04/2024 14:28

No, they look fucking stupid absurd and ridiculous.

Janetime · 22/04/2024 14:37

For me it’s a no, a baby doesn’t need one of them on their head, but they are cute babies and hard to uncute them.

maddiemookins16mum · 22/04/2024 16:04

Common. Almost as bad as the newborn babies who get scrunched up into ridiculous poses for photos to be taken of them in a birds nest or looking like a baby hedgehog.

Cringe.

tuvamoodyson · 22/04/2024 19:39

…or peering out of a flower pot 🙈

OnGoldenPond · 23/04/2024 00:10

I hate them and my DD would have whipped that off within 2 seconds if I had been foolish enough to put it on her head. Along with socks, shoes, cardigans etc etc Confused

Sunnytwobridges · 23/04/2024 00:56

I don’t care for them they are too floppy. I prefer the smaller ones from back in the day

Alloveragain3 · 23/04/2024 01:11

I've tried smaller headbands once or twice with DD when she was 4 or 5 months old.
Within seconds it was on the floor or over her eyes.
Not baby friendly!

ABirdsEyeView · 23/04/2024 13:07

I think they can look cute, depending on the baby. All babies are adorable but in all honesty, some are a bit potato headed and sticking a bow on her, doesn't improve this! On a pretty baby, it can potentially look sweet.

I would rather buy that cute little strawberry hat, if I had a newborn baby girl now though.

ALongHardWinter · 23/04/2024 17:35

That second photo looks like a doll! Something about the hands.
