These are from online catalogues. The kids look swamped in these!

No I'd be embarrassed to put that on my child.

Fraaahnces · 22/04/2024 01:17

No but they’re perfect for Easter eggs.

Dangerous imo. The band can end up around the baby’s face or neck. It’s a pretty stupid thing to put on a baby. Fashion over safety.

I also wonder about the effect on the skull, which is so soft in young babies.

Not cute. Tacky as...

However, I had to smile at one such in a supermarket the other week. The bow wasn't just enormous, it was fuchsia pink, sparkly and very blingy. The baby had enormous blue eyes and actually looked adorable in a mad, cartoonish kind of way. I wanted to judge, but I just couldn't. It was actually very cute Confused

Redglitter · 22/04/2024 01:55

No they're absolutely horrible and un necessary

Babybelle23 · 22/04/2024 02:43

Unpopular opinion, I love these. I only put my Dd in them for special occasions but she looks like a cartoon baby for the 10 mins she keeps it on. They are a bit smaller than these though

BananaBender · 22/04/2024 02:55

Bogan baby headband. (Some here will understand the reference.)

Big no from me. Embrace the adorable bald baby head.

coxesorangepippin · 22/04/2024 02:59

Dangerous and inappropriate

I'm surprised they are still legal

Callmemummynotmaaa · 22/04/2024 03:12

i know it goes against the mumsnet trend to say no, but “gasp” I quite like baby headbands. BUT I’m also a person who likes ‘outfits’ on a baby. Zero judgement for those that prefer them in babygrows. While logically I know clothes are irrational for babies, personally they make me smile. I tend to find the early baby bit difficult and anything “extra” that helps me think they’re extra cute. Why not!

it such a short period of time they’ll let us dress them (Before they chose their own style) that I enjoy the ridiculousness of it :)

CrispieCake · 22/04/2024 05:40

They're quite cute. I mean, a bit pointless really, but quite cute. I never dressed my babies in them but I did dress one of them up as a giant pumpkin for Halloween, and that was definitely more uncomfortable for the baby and got ditched quite quickly! I agree about safety (any kind of band that could get around the neck, you need to watch like a hawk) but I've always assumed they were mainly used as photo props (i.e. put on, snap a photo, take off) rather than everyday wear.

CrispieCake · 22/04/2024 05:41

And I agree that being cute is essentially babies' survival mechanism.

SquashPenguin · 22/04/2024 05:53

Christ I despise these things. No baby wants that monstrosity wrapped round its head. They look tacky as fuck.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 22/04/2024 05:53

Don’t do it!! They are so dangerous… if it slips down and covers the babies mouth then they can’t remove it own their own

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 22/04/2024 05:56

I think using headbands should just be those sticky out ear fixing headbands. Bows not so great. I’d maybe assume that the child had ears to be fixed and the parents assumed the bow would disguise it

TheCoffeeNebula · 22/04/2024 00:10

To me they look gift-wrapped, but as long as they're not dangerous I don't really care. Most babies would look cute with a cowpat balanced on their head (and the ones that aren't cute are beyond the help of bows Grin)

In my working life I dealt with a tragic case of a baby who was in their car seat (mum driving), the headband had fallen down over the baby’s face, baby vomited, which landed in the headband, and baby inhaled the vomit, and the poor baby died. All happened almost silently, mum was unaware till it was too late

One in a million set of circumstances, but yes, potentially the most awful kind of harmful

You’re absolutely right=see the experience I posted

Francisflute · 22/04/2024 05:59

I think they look silly and carry a risk so what's the benefit?

pilates · 22/04/2024 06:03

No awful

awopbopaloobopawopbamboom · 22/04/2024 06:14

Hideous, extremely dangerous and plain stupid of parents to put their babies in them. Idiots.

Housewife2010 · 22/04/2024 06:29

They were tacky back in the 90s. I've only just realised that they're back.

Sunnnybunny72 · 22/04/2024 06:31

Laughable

tuvamoodyson · 22/04/2024 07:13

Hideous.

lotsofpeoplenametheirswords · 22/04/2024 07:14

No! They look unbelievably ridiculous!

Overthebow · 22/04/2024 07:16

No they look ridiculous. They’re dangerous as could end up round the neck and also poor babies having to have that huge thing on their head, can’t be very comfortable for them. Fashion comes before babies comfort and safety apparently 😥.

Moonmelodies · 22/04/2024 07:18

I thought they were bandages.
