What’s your annual leave entitlement and does it feel enough?

I get 26 days plus bank holidays. Lots of my colleagues have bought extra leave but I’m not sure in the point of it, as surely it’s technically just unpaid leave with the cost spread across the year.

How much do you get?

37 days plus bank holidays. Yes it feels enough.

I think you win so far!

43 total. Definitely enough but wouldn't want any less Grin

Oops you win!

20 days plus bank hols. I think this is the minimum.
It's pretty crap but my work is flexible so I'll work the hours up to take more time off or just take unpaid
I love my job though so it's a trade off.

PotatoPudding · 21/04/2024 20:25

This thread is just another reminder that I am failing at life.

Kalevala · 21/04/2024 20:26

25 plus bank holidays. Three days must be used for the Christmas closure. Unpaid parental leave is essentially bought leave surely? So all parents could choose to use that if they can afford it?

Kalevala · 21/04/2024 20:28

I had 20 days as a lone parent with an 11/12 year old child which was difficult.

BingoMarieHeeler · 21/04/2024 20:28

Freelance peripatetic teacher, 0 days 😁 but realistically get all the school hols off which is epic 🥳

tracktrail · 21/04/2024 20:29

23 days plus bank holidays, nowhere near enough. I'm permanently knackered! menopausal, grumpy and tired

Itsthemostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 21/04/2024 20:29

I get 26 plus bank holidays and I don’t feel like it’s enough. I’d be happier at 30

Mamofteenager · 21/04/2024 20:29

31 days plus bank holidays. I work for Local Authority so can also accrue flexi time. 1 day flexi leave every 4 week period. So providing you have enough hours an additional 13 days can be taken

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 21/04/2024 20:34

After BH and Christmas is taken off.
It's 18 days!!!!
It's just not enough

obsessedwithfreshbread · 21/04/2024 20:41

29 plus bank holidays
I buy an extra week and it's still a juggle to get the right balance
Leave year renewed on 1st April and have booked off everything already planned for the next 12 months and have 9 days left to play with.
Thankfully don't need to worry about childcare as DSC are now 15&16

distinctpossibility · 21/04/2024 20:44

I get 13 weeks with 35 days paid. Very very lucky to be term-time only but with flex to swap the odd week if I want to. It's enough and it's worth every penny of loss of salary for the 6 unpaid weeks (though I am low paid to start with). I love my job but I love it because of the work / life balance it affords me.

LaWench · 21/04/2024 20:47

Stat. 20 plus BHs. We have to use 6 at Xmas /NY shutdown so only have 2.5 weeks to use throughout the year, it's really shit and the only downside to this job. I've only had stat in my other jobs too, must be v unlucky. The other pluses I have now outweigh the crap holiday entitlement. I work very flexibly from home so can go to appts/ run errands so don't need to book time off for those and I get lots of downtime throughout the week.

MojoDojoCasaHouse · 21/04/2024 20:47

NHS long service so 33 plus BH. Not enough for me but they got rid of the ability to buy more. I absolutely would take less pay for more time off.

KThnxBye · 21/04/2024 20:49

Haven’t had any holiday allowance at all for the last six years but I’m hoping to change that, I was looking at 10 days off a year initially which I figured would be nearly two full weeks, but this thread is making me think that’s not as much as I thought.

LlynTegid · 21/04/2024 20:49

I feel what I get is enough. I don't work full time any more.

whatthejuice · 21/04/2024 20:52

36 days plus bank holidays. I used to have 25+ bank holidays so this feels great!

BrieHugger · 21/04/2024 20:54

29 days plus bank holidays. Plus my birthday. Plus the business is closed over Xmas with no need to use leave for those days. Very grateful!

OhMehGoddess · 21/04/2024 21:00

30 plus BH's and I buy a week too.

Chocolateorange11 · 21/04/2024 21:06

26 days plus bank holidays (pro rated as work 4 days). Can buy a week and also get an additional week shut down over Xmas works out about 8 weeks if factor in bank holidays
