He is well known amongst those that have been advocating for peace and an end to the occupation as a head of an organisation that has very contentious views.
I agree with PP that everyone and especially Jewish people should feel safe and that there is a rise in antisemitism (which ironically has been fuelled by the actions of NuttinYahu's govt policies in OT EJ and Gaza) and more should be done.
I also believe GF has lied, there are sizeable Jewish blocs in the marches, with 'visibly Jewish people' so to speak, so he was trying to goad.
He got his 15 seconds of fame to probably deflect away from babies with blown up limbs and direct the whole Israel vs Hamas as anti-semitic. We really need to stop overusing that term and conflating it incorrectly because its meaning will diminish and that is v dangerous.
Antisemitism is a very very real concern but we need to be careful how we use it so we know how to spot it quickly.
Had this been years ago, he would have won, but the prevalence of social media now, and the time stamps and different angles that many get to see mean that people are not too quick to jump to conclusions.
I think we should be focusing on the bigger issue here- finding a political solution that is feasible for all involved in Israel/Palestine.
