Good names for showjumping horses

SoMuchToBits · 15/04/2024 21:34

I'm not looking for names for an actual real horse. But as a few of you may know, I sometimes post Playmobil dioramas on here. I'm planning something for the summer which will involve showjumping horses, and also dressage. They need names. If anyone can suggest some good names I'd be very grateful!

Thank you!

You could go retro and pick the names of some famous show jumpers from when it was on TV a lot. Ryan's son and Milton (both John Whittaker)

Or how about from Jilly Cooper novels. Revenge, Macaulay, Sailor.

I know some showjumpers. Stable name Mitzi - Cheyenne Ballon(!) Archie - Razzle Dazzle and a few other where I just know their stable names, Star, Tippy, Patrick, Mags, Flynn.

I did once go as far as to nearly register a racehorse with Weatherbys as Brian the Racehorse. Stupid other owners outvoted me.

maybe a magic roundabout theme - zebedee, Brian, Ermintrude, Dylan, Dougal, Florence.

My fave was 'Like The Wind'. Was announced at shows as '-riders name- riding Like The Wind. Can't remember her stable name.

Probably better for a show jumper/eveter rather than dressage, though!

A lot of top show jumpers are sponsored by companies and it used to be a thing that there was a prefix before a name, for example Sanyo Skyflyer. Obviously yours would be sponsored by Playmobile…?? Often there is a prefix from a stud, ie, Oakhill Dream or Oakhill Star.

One that includes Norman, the foreman so often featured.

Norman's Conquest perhaps?

Some more good names. Places in Playmoland include Ruggington, Lowbeach-on-sea, Greenchester, Highbath, in case that's any help.

But we did have a horse called Ruggington Lass in the 2022 Platinum Cup race (for the Platinum Jubilee).
