Help Cardiff people going to an event at Cardiff Principality and haven’t booked parking.

It’s on a Sunday. Thinking of trying to get into Cardiff for 9.30am so hours behind the event. Is planning on doing park and ride, park and walk risky? Ie they’d be full. Would Sophia Gardens car park be full by that time? Any recommendations?

Sundays are usually quieter. Is it a huge event? There is an NCP car park directly opposite but it costs £32.95 or more for a day.

Try the Justpark app? I use it a lot when visiting cities!

Well it’s Bruce Springsteen .Huge event for me 😄but maybe not by Harry styles size crowds maybe. I think it would be busy though. Can you book park and rides or would just rocking up on the day be ok.

How full does Sophia Gardens get?

Sophia Gardens is a good bet, I've parked there for other concerts. You could risk on street parking around by the courts/ museum.
Or Cardiff bay and walk in from there.
Failing that if you're coming from east M4, park at Newport civic centre and jump on the train from there.

Don't park in st David's , you will never get out!

What sort of time do you intend arriving at Sophia Gardens? TBH it does fill up pretty quickly when there’s an event on.

9.30am on a Sunday it will be absolutely fine. Even on the days Ed Sheeran was playing (which were a complete nightmare) or during the 6 nations traffic is fine that early.

Agree with the other posters, DO NOT park either in the NCP that's closest to the stadium unless you have money to burn, or in St David's if you want to get out quickly.

Agree sophia gardens is a good bet and definitely won't be full up at that time, even if it is there is lots of on street parking nearby (most paid for) as a back up or 100s of spaces around the civic centre/museum area.

I'm not sure what time the P&R run, but should be on the cardiff council website - last I heard was the east side one doesn't run at all into town during weekends anymore though? (which is a bit pointless!) So unless you're coming from west wales you'd have to drive through cardiff to get to the leckwith P&R which would be a bit pointless.

Where are you coming from @WagonWh33l5 ? Do you need to drive? There may be a park & ride at cardiff city fc but the other ones don't operate anymore (pentwyn & County hall) any accessibility issues? How far away can you be, walking wise?

Will get there as early as needs be( it’s Bruce) but preferably not before 9.30am Would Sophia Gardens be full by then?

I'm going to see Michael McIntyre in Cardiff ON THE SAME DAY. I didn't realise Bruce was there until I tried to book a hotel and couldn't get anything under £400 per night. I'm now driving there and back and using Just Park.

Could you park in one of the suburbs with a train station and get a train in and taxi back to your car?

We rented our driveway to someone seeing Harry Styles last year who did this.

It’a the bank holiday Sunday also. Cardiff will be packed like a match day! I’m going but I live localish so am getting a bus.

This page normally gets updated closer to event days.

As said earlier avoid St David’s and John Lewis car parks - the blue cones of doom will be out and you’ll take hours to get out.

Sophia Gardens would be the most obvious but if the Park & Ride at the Council offices is running it’s probably the easiest.

Other option might be Red Dragon Centre and a good walk in and out of town.

If you intend parking up at Sophia Gardens before 9.30am you’ll be fine 😊 Enjoy Bruce! I’m sure you will 😉

I have a sneaky little parking spot really close to the stadium which you can book via Just Park. It’s not cheap but it’s so close and easy in and out of the city (I also come into Cardiff via Coast Road and it’s alway so so quiet!).

Dh is now wondering about parking at Newpart Station and getting the train in.
