It’s on a Sunday. Thinking of trying to get into Cardiff for 9.30am so hours behind the event. Is planning on doing park and ride, park and walk risky? Ie they’d be full. Would Sophia Gardens car park be full by that time? Any recommendations?

Noooo Bruce is renowned for going on late. The station, queuing & lack of trains means you would have to leave before the end to make a train

The issue with the trains is the way they herd you out after the concert. It’s the same for all major events, and for me it’s just too stressful.

I’ve booked parking when I’ve taken the kids to internationals and it worked well, I’ve got website details somewhere. I’ll have a look tomorrow @WagonWh33l5 and post them here.

You could park in Radyr or Whitchurch and get the train in from there. Radyr has a station car park.

Try Llandaff Fields Pay and Display car park. It's a lovely walk down the river path and through Bute Park to the stadium. Get lunch at the cafe on the way through or The Cricketers on Cathedral Road (book ahead). Walk back up Cathedral Road after the show. It's a distance but pleasant. I'd probably arrive at about 11.30 for safety.

I'd agree for later gigs but this is an early one, starts at 4, scheduled to end around 8pm, and there are trains running until half 11pm so should be fine in this case,. I'd personally hate the queuing around the station and would prefer to at least be queuing in the car, so would go for the sophia gardens option but newport is definitely doable. There's loads of free on street parking behind the train station in newport if you're happy to walk 5-10mins or so too.

Wear/take trainers if you're parking in Llandaff Fields though.

Think we’re going to try Sophia and surrounding area but aiming to get there for 9( got a 2 hour journey) .Then if nothing will go back to Newport. Hope I’m not too excited to sleep as it’s going to be a looong day.😄

Sounds like a good plan OP

Summertime16 · 16/04/2024 20:42

The gates will open about 3 but the gig, won’t start until 7/8ish. Whoever’s spreading rumours it’s starting at 3pm, hasn’t been to the stadium 😂

How did you get on OP? What a great night it was. We parked in a side street in Pontcanna and walked in with no problem.
