Going to Tenerife next Monday and it's only forecast 24 degrees all week.
Is it likely to be warm enough to sunbathe ?
I've never been abroad when it's been under 30 degrees.
Would you wear a bikini in 24degrees ?

Yes

DelphiniumBlue · 15/04/2024 20:38

I’d say that’s perfect.

Perfect temperature. I'm jealous

BuffaloCauliflower · 15/04/2024 20:40

Yes sounds about right to me. I was warm on Saturday in 18-19, 24 is about perfect for lying by a pool. Have fun

foobio · 15/04/2024 20:40

Canaries with a forecast of 24° is plenty hot enough for bikinis and sunbathing, it feels a lot hotter in the sun, and the sun feels more direct than the UK (due to being closer to the equator maybe?)

Evenings after dark can be a bit cooler, may want a cardigan for going out to dinner!

Mandarinaduck · 15/04/2024 20:40

Just about, but it’s not really hot.

Waitingfordoggo · 15/04/2024 20:41

24° would be more than warm enough for me to be outside in a swimsuit.

However, ‘sunbathing’ isn’t a very good idea as an activity because there is no such thing as a safe tan (unless it’s out of a bottle!)

jazzyseph · 15/04/2024 20:41

And be careful as the sun will be very strong, as you are a lot closer to the equator, but the air is cooler due to the position in the Atlantic compared to the Sahara right beside the islands.

Almostlegible · 15/04/2024 20:41

I think 24 degrees is the shade temperature so it will be warmer than that in the sun.
Have a lovely time 😎

Ticktapticktap · 15/04/2024 20:42

Anything over 19 is warm enough imo

TheChosenTwo · 15/04/2024 20:42

I’d maybe be in short sleeves/a dress but definitely not sunbathing, I’m convinced I’m cold blooded and while everyone is sweating at 25 I’m just about feeling warm enough to take off a layer!
It’s my Caribbean roots I swear!!

Katherineryan1986 · 15/04/2024 20:42

Absolutely it’s warm enough!
But take care to wear sun protection as you can still burn, and often the Canaries are windy so it might make you think it’s cooler than it really is.

YorkshireOldGal · 15/04/2024 20:43

Fuck yes.

Was in Spain 2 weeks ago and the forecast said 20-22 everyday but it felt much hotter. The sun is stronger the further South you are.

underseige05 · 15/04/2024 20:44

It's hitting the 40's at the moment. I have friends that live in the south there and they say it's very hot and unseasonably hot for this time of year.

NancyJoan · 15/04/2024 20:44

Yes, will be lovely. Hot enough to sunbathe, but not too hot for going for a walk.

Curlyblondefemale · 15/04/2024 20:46

Yes, we went last May and it was between 21-25 all week and everyone is sunbathing.
It gets a bit windy so you have to be careful. I took a jacket last year for the evenings but never used it.
If you type into google Los Christianos live cam it shows the beach live, it's a good way to judge because you can see what everyone else is wearing.

6pm tonight

Is 24 degree warm enough to sunbathe?

Ha! You sound like my South American MIL. She thinks anything below 25C is too cold. Whereas I'm Scottish and think anything above 25C is too hot!

LBOCS2 · 15/04/2024 20:47

That's a shade temperature so it'll feel considerably warmer in the sun.

We were in Lanzarote until Saturday, it started off at around 22°c and went up to 34°. It was good sunbathing weather at 22, and too hot at 34!

NahNeedsGarlic · 15/04/2024 20:48

At 24 degrees I’d be in the bar shade or the pool.

Whitegrenache · 15/04/2024 20:48

Yes we were in Gran Canaria two weeks ago with similar temperatures and it was def bikini weather! Pool was freezing however so look for heated pool/beach club would be my advice

MoreLidlThanWaitrose · 15/04/2024 20:50

24 is pretty much my ideal holiday temperature. Not too hot to be physically active or go exploring if the mood takes us, but also plenty warm to sit by a pool or on the beach. It’s also probably the upper limit of what my kids will mange without getting cranky tbh.

Overthebow · 15/04/2024 20:50

It depends how windy it is, Tenerife can get pretty windy at times so if it is then it may feel a bit cold at 24C. If not then it will be warm enough, but the pool may be cold unless heated.

coxesorangepippin · 15/04/2024 20:51

Yes

Might be cooler in the evenings, but I love that
