Is 24 degree warm enough to sunbathe?

Going to Tenerife next Monday and it's only forecast 24 degrees all week.
Is it likely to be warm enough to sunbathe ?
I've never been abroad when it's been under 30 degrees.
Would you wear a bikini in 24degrees ?

I went to Lanzarote in Jan it was less than 24 degrees and we came home brown as berries! Canaries are often more beautiful and hotter than the temperatures suggest which are always the temperatures taken in the shade and not in full sun so basically don't worry about it! Pack your bikini and a cardi for evenings just in case it's a bit chilly once the sun has gone in.

For me personally no I wouldn't sunbathe in 24 degrees. I spend my summers in Spain where its usually 35 degrees, that's nice for me. I love the heat and sun.

Perfect temperature. Just back from the Canaries, sun is super strong in the middle of the day, UV10, so make sure you slather on the factor 50. Lots of red burned people at the airport!

I was in southern Spain last week and it was 24/25 during the day, I appreciate canaries are a different type of heat though! But just as an idea, 24 felt plenty warm enough in the sun to sit out. Sea was freezing. Evenings felt very chilly, needed something with long sleeves plus a denim jacket.

LlynTegid · 15/04/2024 22:06

Warm enough.

Dani198421 · 21/04/2024 06:34

Me too!! Fly out on 24th :)

LightSpeeds · 21/04/2024 07:36

It'll be boiling in the sun!

Redlarge · 21/04/2024 07:41

Yes. Ive just got back. It was perfect sunbathing and pool weather. Sea was a bit nippy. But gorgeous.

Pleased I found this thread, we're off to Lanzarote next Sunday and I've been fretting about the temperatures being on the lower side. Looks like nothing to worry about!

Yes I was in Croatia last week and 24 degrees was fine

It's not like the height of summer where you can lie out form 8am -6pm but it a good few warm hours

Warning: I got severely burnt in Lanzarote in April. It wasn't hot either just around 19-20c. I had shorts on and swim suit. FIL had jeans and a jumper. I dozed off for 20 mins .

This was first day of a 7 day holiday and had to go to hospital when I got home 8 days later it was that bad.

Tristar15 · 21/04/2024 08:30

Yes, but as others have said the sun is much stronger so don’t be deceived by it ‘only’ being 24. Was in the Canaries a couple of weeks ago and it was around 22-25 most days but needed lots of high factor sun cream to avoid being burned.

stonkytonk11 · 21/04/2024 08:36

Probably yes but will depend on how much of a breeze/wind there is too. Wouldn't be warm enough to go into the pool though I don't think, unless it's heated. Will be a lovely temperature to sit by the pool reading though, have a great time!
