Toning fat legs.

I'm at the gym doing 30 to 40 mins of hit 3 to 4 times a week. Diet could have less fat and sugar but it's not awful. However my legs have gone awful. Thighs rubbing. Pudgy and generally unattractive. How can i sort them??

I'd do some weights, concentrating on your legs.

Mind, my legs look big, but they're really muscular.

TeenLifeMum · 14/04/2024 19:34

what’s your height and weight?

alongside weightloss you need to mix cardio and resistance strength training. Running, squats, and leg resistance machine thingy.

my muscles are toned but unfortunately there’s too much fat (1.5 stone over weight) over so only a hint of definition.

SpanishTale · 14/04/2024 19:37

5 foot 3
10 stone 5lbs
Do a lot of squats, lunges etc.

Running is the only thing that helps mine.

TheOccupier · 14/04/2024 19:43

Fat is on top of muscle (at least in legs) so if your legs are fat the solution here is to lose weight, I'm afraid. You can strengthen your legs with weight training but they won't look much different.

Running

SpanishTale · 14/04/2024 19:47

I hate running

Have you tried C25k?

Weelegs29 · 14/04/2024 20:08

Spin classes are always great for toning my legs up faster than any other type of exercise

What is that ?

Couch to 5k, it's an NHS programme to teach you how to run. You said you hate running but it might be worth trying this, as it rescues you to pace yourself etc.

Just check you've not got the marvellous genetic disease lipoedema first though. I could have saved myself years of eating disorders if I'd found out that I have it a lot earlier!

Leftleg · 14/04/2024 21:28

I hate running too, but now I'm on week 6 of couch to 5k, I don't hate it so much and my legs look better. Unfortunately you can't really tone up without losing fat though as the muscle won't show through the fat.
I combined c25k with a calorie deficit.
The other thing is that you might hold more fat on your legs, I tend to hold it on stomach so I lose fat on my legs first.

I have thought that but I don't think I have it. I can run I just don't want too lol.

Yes, you can work the muscles in your legs all you want, but that won't make the fat go away and at 10 stone 3 lb you are overweight for your height.

Ladygagagagagoo · 14/04/2024 21:38

May I suggest cut back on the Easter eggs as 2 weeks ago you were rivalling the body of a professional athlete

Toning fat legs.
SpanishTale · 14/04/2024 22:46

I felt like that 2 weeks ago. Now I got into a swimming costume and feel shite. I was kidding myself.

It's 80/20 diet to exercise. Whether your calories come from avocado or mars bars, the excess ends up as fat. Try a calorie deficit for a few weeks to lose some of the fat that's on top of the muscles you've cultivated.

Without being condescending, I think you've got lovely shaply legs, you are fit and healthy and do so well with your exercise.
Are we ever happy with the way we look in a swimming costume???

SpanishTale · 15/04/2024 08:44

I think they look stumpy. My thighs by my bum are dimply too

Yearendjoy · 15/04/2024 08:58

Toning means building muscle which means heavy weights. Cardio and HIIT isn't going to do that.

PaminaMozart · 15/04/2024 09:03

Start off with Lucy Wyndham Read's Thighs & Glutes. A game changer add variations from her Pear Shaped workout.

The Caroline Girvan if you're serious.

SpanishTale · 15/04/2024 09:07
