Can I buy the sausages without the beans?

I don't even know if it is a thing because google is not being very helpful. Newly Gluten Free DD has found a GF meal she likes which is the sausages from Heinz beans and sausages on toast. Its a huge win as she is a very picky eater. Sadly, Heinz do not seem to do just the sausages. Is there anything similar out there that might compare. She hates beans and I dont want to have to buy a tin of beans and sausages just to chuck the beans away. TIA

Is this serious? You're asking if you can buy sausages?

daisydalrymple · 10/04/2024 17:19

Think they do them with spaghetti hoops too. Won’t help if she doesn’t like spaghetti too though!

Hot dogs

Couldn’t someone else eat the beans? No need to waste them.
I haven’t seen those sausages sold separately but perhaps someone knows of a similar type, I would have said the texture was similar to hot dog sausages.

Fairydustandsparklylights · 10/04/2024 17:20

@neverknowinglyunreasonable The Op clearly means the specific sausages that come in the tin with beans and sausages. Stop being obtuse.

I wish you could but I’ve never seen them. If you do manage to find anything similar, please share.

LutonBeds · 10/04/2024 17:21

You’ve just stirred a memory. We used to get the small sausages that were very similar to those ones when I was little. Maybe Walls or Asda?

Hellocatshome · 10/04/2024 17:21

I think you are just going to have to try different types of hot dog sausages until you find some that are similar. Would pretending they came from the brand and sausages tin work? You don't say how old DD is so not sure if she would fall for it.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 10/04/2024 17:22

Without wishing to get into trouble with heinz if you buy cheap sausages and just boil them I think you'd get a similar result.

I’d go with dishonesty.

MadelineWuntch · 10/04/2024 17:24

We used to call them cocktail sausages when I was a kid- not seen them for sale for yonks though. They were sold in a tin, rather then the fresh, chilled wrinkly ones you can get now.

SchoolConfusionMum · 10/04/2024 17:25

Wee Willie Winkies skinless mini sausages...you can get them from Asda

Omg I’d love a tin of just the sausages

They are just tinned Frankfurters so can't you just buy a tin or jar of hot dog sausages and cut them smaller so they look like the ones in the beans and sausage cans

Anotherillnes · 10/04/2024 17:27

I’ve never tried them. Maybe Google cooked cocktail sausages gluten free. I’m not GF so don’t know.

maybe try Coeliac society

Wee Willie Winkies are not the same!

I think you'd need to cook them in some sort of tomatoey sauce as well.

DoreenonTill8 · 10/04/2024 17:29

I got some tins of them from aldi recently I'll check the cupboard to take a pic!

DoreenonTill8 · 10/04/2024 17:33

I can't see them, but would she eat these from tesco?

Was going to post the wee Willie winkies too! I don't think they are gluten free though.

MuggedByReality · 10/04/2024 17:34

Wee Willy Winkies ingredients list :

Ingredients
Pork (44%), Water, Rusk [Wheat Flour (Wheat Flour, Calcium Carbonate, Iron, Niacin, Thiamin), Salt, Raising Agent (Ammonium Bicarbonate)], Pork Rind, Wheat Starch, Salt, Emulsifier (Sodium Diphosphates), Dextrose, Yeast Extract, Preservative (Sodium Metabisulphite), Herb and Spice Extracts (Sage, Pepper, Capsicum, Ginger, Mace, Nutmeg, Allspice, Coriander), Antioxidant (Ascorbic Acid), Food Colour (Carmine), Pork Fat, Filled into an Alginate Based Casing which contains: Seaweed Extract (Sodium Alginate), Fibre (Cellulose), Modified Starch

44% meat! 🤮

rightoguvnor · 10/04/2024 17:35

I think the closest you could get would be skinless chipolatas but you'd have to be very careful of the ingredients.
Many's the time dh has been felled by his careless sausage selection.

She's 17 so unlikely I can sneak stuff past her. lol. Will just try all the suggestions in the hope she enjoys some of them

Thank you all for the replies. Sorry, I didn't mean to suggest that was all she would eat and I need to sneak them into her diet using nefarious means. It was just a win for her at a crappy time so wanted to help make it better for her. I thought it might just be a stretch too far.

However, it does seem that others would like just the sausages too. Maybe I will appeal to Heinz....
