So I’ve just discovered Tattle…

My friend told me about it recently so I thought I’d have a look. So I do have some views on ‘influencers’ showing off their DC before they’re old enough to consent, but blimey, this goes above any beyond that. There is a woman on Istagram called ‘Knee Deep in Life’ I’ve followed her for years and I can see that’s she’s not everyone’s cup of tea but she’s pretty inoffensive but the way she’s been talked about of Tattle is horrible, I don’t know how anyone could describe as anything else other than bullying.

i stopped reading after this and I’m very willing to stand corrected if this was a one off and every thing else is well put together and thought through but suspect that’s not the case. I know MN is in no way perfect but just found it really nasty.

So Tattle hold open days like a university where you can ask to enrol? Why is this?

Er no - they just keep membership numbers low and open it occasionally

The site is brutal

Sometimes I go for a read of threads if the show is on but it's never nice and I leave

The radfords and cassey Clark are horrid

The comments and names they get called and their kids

I tend to avoid tbh

Tho seems you can't link threads on here

I rem sometime last year , I put a link up for a tattle thread about radfords on the post on here - and my post imm got deleted and think said check guidelines or something similar

The Radfords is another one I’ve looked at periodically. I absolutely agree about the comments about the kids’ looks etc but they’re another family who have monetised their kids’ privacy. Not to mention the narrative they spout about being self sufficient when I don’t believe that’s entirely true.

What an odd assortment of reactions. The OP was generalizing and virtue signalling about "ooh, how nasty those people on Tattle are." Of the thousands of people who post there, some are mean. Others are quite compassionate. Just like here. It's a gossip site. What did you expect?

I haven't explored Tattle. I stay on one popular thread that is devoted to one grifter who is a compulsive liar unable to keep her lies straight (which is how it was discovered that she was a grifter). The thread is a lot slower since the grifter pretty much disappeared after being definitively exposed, but I still check in regularly, because the posters on that thread can make me howl with laughter. No one is bullying or abusing the grifter. No one is reaching out to her. No one is sending her messages, and no one has been "banned" for doing so. No one told this grifter (who regularly used to make it clear that she read Tattle obsessively) to go there and read about herself. We are laughing at an inept minor crook who put herself ALL over social media, and tried to put herself all over TV, and was hoist by her own petard. She lied and lied and lied and got caught. And frankly, it's hilarious. Fin.

If the grifter is the same grifter that I used to read about (and I would put money on it being so), the Tattle community were very careful to protect the identity of the grifter's child, obscuring child's face in photographs, and blanking out any embarrassing/ very personal information - all of this was more than said grifter ever did.

SheepAndSword · 08/04/2024 11:57

@OpheliaLibra I can't read anything about Alice Evans anymore 🙈

She's had a very public, nasty breakdown and I don't know why her IRL people aren't trying to get her some help (maybe they are but it's not working)

OpheliaLibra · 08/04/2024 12:07

@SheepAndSword i agree, sadly. I just don’t think Alice has many IRL people.

But to reiterate, I’ve never seen such a well organized, highly detailed plethora of information as that wiki. 😂

captainjacksparrow · 08/04/2024 12:11

The bottom line is none of you are normal enough for tattle.

I love it. Far more interesting and real than most of the bollocks posted on here.

for a start people over there actually eat, like their DP’s and don’t run away shaking if someone knocks at the door

😆😆😆😆. That's very true! I suspect most of them don't wear sack dresses and mill girl boots either 😆😆

Absolutely. Besides posting photos of her kid, her house, the street outside her house, etc. etc., Grifter herself posted a photo of her dog's tag with a phone number on it and laughed it off, but routinely showed up to wail about being stalked and harassed by evil trolls. Even claimed she had been advised by police to leave her home and hire bodyguards. Asserted time and time again that police were helping her track down these nefarious imaginary villains. Chortle. All lies. All just another source of her professional victimhood and the result of her narcissistic rage from being laughed at.

The truth is that a healthy proportion of mumsnet aren't like that either. If we were all the same there would be no discussion/disagreement on the threads!

I do like the mumsnet threads on tattle though for poking a bit of fun at the mumsnet demographic.

Was that the special police squad that she said was set up to monitor people being horrible to celebrities on the socials? That didn't exist?

And didn’t she supposedly have “her lawyer” reading the threads on her behalf at one point?

GrandTheftWalrus · 08/04/2024 13:16

I think tattle is great. I don't read influencer threads as they don't interest me. However I read threads that do.

blue345 · 08/04/2024 13:27

There's a lot of hypocrisy at play when they can't take any criticism but encourage their followers to be vile to any nay-sayers. I'd say Jack Monroe and Mrs Hinch fall into this category.

There's also over-use of the word troll. Posting a negative opinion on a forum doesn't make me a troll and women are allowed an opinion, contrary to the #bekind bollocks. And no, I'm not jealous because I'm fortunate to have a job that pays for a nice lifestyle and I'd hate to be an influencer. You're selling your life, you can't expect everyone to like you. If you can't cope with negative opinions, find a career out of the public eye.

I have to take feedback in my job every day. If people pointed out my deception and faults as an influencer, I'd try to think what I could do better. It's really not that difficult - don't pretend prerecords are current, don't filter yourself beyond recognition, mark adverts clearly and frankly don't share videos and private medical information of your kids. For some, it seems that they get a strange kick from misleading people but there's really no need to play silly games.

Someonescatmum · 08/04/2024 13:50

The thread on Dr Jessica Taylor is very enlightening, especially given she purports to support women.

Was this EVB? Sounds familiar but then the pattern is the same for most of them.
I have a particular loathing for anyone who monetises their children. Appalling people.

She had a lawyer and a 'crack team of paralegals'. Printing out every single page of every single thread. Amazon rainforest, who needs it?

justasking111 · 08/04/2024 14:36

These influencers who let it all hang out, where they live, phone numbers, their children. There are some very sick people out there. We've had politicians murdered. Actors, etc are much more careful of their private information, yet in Hollywood there's been some awful attacks, even murders by crazy fans.

It's frightening because for every Mrs Hinch there's local middling influencers peddling their lifestyle who are vulnerable.

If Tattle forensic investigators are that good. My neighbour promoting steam mops in a bikini isn't safe

atichoo · 08/04/2024 14:47

OpheliaLibra · 08/04/2024 08:13

Longtime Tattle lurker and, I’ll admit, I’m waiting for the next open registration to finally post. Personally, I find most threads there are like anywhere else where people have opinions, some being more extreme than others.

But if you’re ever looking for why some feel the way they do, their wikis are amazing, i.e., on the Alice Evans thread.

Me too! It is brutal but I like to no nonsense style. PLUS I've been waiting to create a thread on an 'Influencer' for ages who doesn't have one on there, and is a total grifter/compulsive liar/taking advantage of vulnerable people. No kids monetised, so I don't feel bad in doing it. She's an awful person.

I don't care if I sound horrible!

The crime and trial threads are good as are the sleb ones.

Any Tattlers around that fancy posting a new thread about a dodgy influencer then PM me... can't see registration opening up any time soon and I can understand people not wanting to send codes to randoms.

Yes, the thing about mumsnet is it has an absolutely massive user base so it really isn’t reflective if the stereotype that tattle make it out to be - actually a lot of the threads that they go after have posters calling them out, eg the boasty, goady ones. I’ve never seen a thread on mumsnet where someone’s blatantly started it to boast about their husband’s income/thinness/precocious children where they haven’t been roundly criticized by other users. Not to mention that there are significant numbers of non-middle class, non-white users on here.

OpheliaLibra · 08/04/2024 15:00

@atichoo They can be brutal, but the threads I follow seem pretty fair, plus there are some hilarious people posting.

(small voice) So, yeah….someone sent me an invite code, so there are kind and generous folk out there.

That was kind of them.

I find the brutal ones are usually well deserved, tbh.

I do, too. I think it’s okay to be cutting and brutal, as long as you’re witty. Keeps the universe in balance.
