Inspired by yesterday's thread of the bill splitting karma, which was very uplifting to read, can anyone share any stories where CF got their come uppence? These will be a wonderful read for all especially victims of CF!
I don't have any to offer I am afraid...

When I was a teenager, the town I grew up in was known for it’s very corrupt police force. I am going to preface this by stating categorically that things have changed since this story - as has my opinion of the police.
I had only recently been licensed and was driving for the first time by myself to university early in the morning. I was followed fairly closely by a police car, and when I went to through a traffic light that was turning yellow, they put on the lights and sirens and pulled me over. I had a breath test (obviously zero) and then they tried to book me for going through a red light. A car full of other students (slightly older guys) who had seen the incident pulled in front of us all and stated that the police were fining me for no reason as the light was yellow. They were willing to go to court as my witness if necessary. The police were pissed. They tore up the ticket and the car full of my new mates gave me the thumbs up and I drove off towards Uni. The cops were tailgating me the whole time and the car of students who had pulled over were behind them all the way. As I got closer to the Uni, I came to another set of lights that turned yellow as I got to it. I had learned my lesson, so I stopped. The police car went right up my bum and I had an independent car full of witnesses to previous intimidation as well as what led to this accident. It went to court, the judge laughed uproariously and I was awarded quite a lot of money. (More than enough to replace my POS car.) - Oh, and one of the guys in that car became my first boyfriend too.

When we named our first child mil was a bit sniffy about our name choice. It was one of those shortened names think Albie, Alfie, Bobby etc. She made a comment about how it was hard to imagine a grown man with a name like that.
Two years later sil has her first dd and names her something like Honey Boo. I laughed imagining mils thoughts on this.

Also our son has asd and development delays which was massively misunderstood by pils. We got a lot of lectures about how we need to make him behave (when he was two and having several meltdowns a day) . I remember bil who didn't have children at the time saying smugly how it's all about boundaries. Again fast forward a few years and dn behaviour is far more extreme than ds ever was. Everytime she smacks her dad in the face I get the urge to say 'boundaries bil' As far as we are aware there's no Sen issue with dn (although I wouldn't be surprised if she has adhd) but pil talk a lot about the reason she has all these issues is because she is a 'high needs' child. This from a family who didn't think asd was a good enough reason for struggling to regulate.

@Fromage

But mostly because I knew their return flight was from Newark.

I'd loved to have seen the looks on their faces when they realised... 🌹

I work in management in a big company and as such I have to do interviews for new hires.
I came in one morning to see a person waiting in the lobby who'd got in early for his interview so I went over to greet him, and ask if he'd like tea or coffee while he waited, and he totally ignored me. That kind of 'looking through you' ignoring where he can clearly see you but thinks he's far too good to chat to you.
I get upstairs and I see I'm down for the interview. Wonderful. So the colleague interviewing with me goes down to bring him, he comes into the room and when he saw me the look on his face was very clearly the face of a man shifting a brick.

ANiceBigCupOfTea · 06/04/2024 06:57

Bloody auto correct- shitting not shifting

Ha ha.
Did you begin the interview by checking if he had any disability eg hearing or sight impaired. 😅

Years back before I emigrated I worked in an office building with allocated parking, plus 5 visitor parking bays. Work had a charity collection of old bikes. As my DH had a van ( bog standard white transit) I offered to do the drop off.
I go with a colleague and drop the bikes off, wearing a company branded coat for the inevitable local paper picture.
Get back to the office and as Im turning right into the car park a BMW UNDERTAKES me, then parks in my ( marked with my name) parking spot.
I drive in, put my window down and politely tell him that the visitor bays are on the other side of the building. He replied " Fuck off you stupid bitch" and walks away. I block him in with the van .
Get back to my desk, put suit jacket back on, grab my file & a coffee and walk into the interview I am co conducting with the big boss for a new team leader .
Guess who the interviewee is?
I didn't say a word about the incident through the whole interview, ( he was squirming) but right at the end big boss says " You might want to apologise to New, she has blocked you in with her van"
Guy splutters then sheepishly apologises.

Not suprisingly he didn't get the job 😁

There is a small Sainsburys Local in the town nearest to us which has on road parking bays outside which are nearly always full. Two of the bays are marked as disabled bays so empty much more frequently. The very small signage nearby shows that the disabled restriction is only until 6pm in the evening, after that they can be used by anyone, however most people don't seem to realise this.

I stopped in on my way home from work one evening, after 6pm, and the main bays were all full as usual but both of the restricted bays were empty so I parked in one of those. A guy in a flashy sports car ignored the other empty restricted bay and parked on the double yellows next to me. As we both got out of our cars at the same time I started to say to him - did you realise you could park in the disabled bay as it's after 6pm but he didn't let me get that far instead he told me to f**k off and mind my own business - I presume he thought I was trying to tell him off about parking on double yellows.

We both went inside and picked up a few bits and ended up coming out at the same time - the traffic warden had just put the ticket on his car and was taking a photograph. I didn't stay to see what he said to her...

A friend of mine years ago was PA to the directors of a tiny company. They were interviewing for a post and she did all the toing and froing from reception. Some of the interviewees were rude or didn’t bother to speak to her. More fool them because her bosses asked for her feedback on every interviewee.

NC means No Contact.

It's name changed in this context

Stuck in a long traffic jam on the M5, me, and DH and 2 kids in the back.
Mr Flashy Range Rover decides he's too superior to wait and comes flying up the hard shoulder.
We passed him a mile later, stuck with 2 punctures.
We all waved as we drive past....

Philandbill · 06/04/2024 09:38

Paused at a roundabout waiting to turn right, paused as I thought there was a car coming, vision slightly obscured by roundabout signage. Idiot behind me overtook me (on the driver side) and accelerated off down a side road clearly doing much more than the speed limit. Car I had paused for was a police car. Police officer briefly met my eye and then on went the lights and sirens as he went after the idiot. My how I laughed.

BlueRidgeMountain · 06/04/2024 10:05

I was driving the speed limit (30) along a road that has 2 lanes, the left one being a bus lane, which had a bus driving alongside me in. Lady in a bmw comes roaring up behind me, aggressively tailgating me and flashing her lights. Guess she didn’t like me driving the speed limit. The bus pulled into a bus stop so she took that chance to stick her foot down and undertake me in the bus lane, straight over the roundabout just ahead and causing a driver coming round to slam his brakes as she failed to give way to him. What she didn't see was the police car that had been behind her, seen the whole thing, and went after her with sirens and lights on.
I got held up by traffic at the roundabout so by the time I caught up and passed then, the lady was getting out of the car making pleading gestures to the officers, one of whom gave me a little wave as I passed laughing my socks off.

Driving 50mph in a 50 zone, a person behind me was driving up my back end the whole time very dangerously obviously trying to push me to drive faster.
They went to overtake and crashed. (everyone was fine the car however was not.)
I must admit I did laugh.

helping with some interviews for a very senior post. Internal candidate was there, met her before and she was rude. She wanted some photocopying doing and I had to log her in as not her building. She then literally pushed me out of the way with a hard shove.
walked straight into the directors office, told him and he said ‘well she’s not fucking getting the job then, no one shoves Cheese’.

Another time I was walking a candidate through the building and he spotted a cleaner struggling to get through a heavy door with a Hoover. He sprinted over, helped her, asked her about her day. Walked back to me and apologised for making me wait. Again told the director. He didn’t get the job that day and he was asked back for a slightly lower position which he did get (and then moved up). He’s always been super polite and nice to everyone.

After I managed to end my marriage to my emotionally abusive XH, his family (MIL and SIL) turned against me and slagged me off on social media. Calling me 'sugar coated poison' and saying awful things about my appearance.

They even went as far as giving me the nickname 'Alopeesha' - obviously alopecia spelt wrongly.

A few years later, my ex-MIL had all her hair fall out.

I have never revelled in the fact that this happened, but can't help but think privately that she must think about the time she used this medical condition as a joke/ insult and then she became sadly affected by it.

sockarefootwear · 06/04/2024 11:28

A few weeks after I passed my driving test, I was sent on a work training course for 3 weeks. The course was in a training centre on an our of town trading estate about an hours drive from my home and I drove there and back each day. There were a few small parking spaces right outside the centre door but as I knew they'd be difficult to get in and out of (bollards between them, planters next to them, on the main route in and out of the estate etc) I chose to park in a very large carpark behind the centre.

A small group of male participants thought it was very funny that I arrived early but parked further away. When I explained that I was a new driver so wanted somewhere easy to park it just made them worse. The ringleader 'Dick' always parked near the doors and started to wait for me to leave the car park, follow me to the end of the road (with his mates jeering out of the windows) then speed past me and loads of other stupid stuff to try to make me feel uncomfortable. Dick then started making 'jokes' about me leaving the carpark free for him out of respect (with Godfather misquotes) etc, clearly trying to goad me in to parking at the front so they could watch me struggle.

One evening, as I was driving out of the estate, Dick was waiting in his car in one of the small spaces and reversed at speed just as I was approaching. I'm sure his plan was to pull out on front of me and make me have to slam on my brakes. Only instead he reversed at speed in to a lovely concrete bollard.
My parking was never mentioned again,

I was bullied horrendously at secondary school. One of the main bullies was a lad I'll refer to as X.
10 years later,we are selling our house, and buying another. X came out to value our property ( I didn't know he worked there). I'd changed appearance quite dramatically and married so he had no idea of who I was. I knew as soon as I saw him,and naturally he didn't get the job. The house we were interested in buying was advertised with X's agency, but the vendors knew my parents,so they took it off the market and we dealt with them privately, and got a healthy discount off the asking price as they no longer had to pay comission on the sale.
It's almost 20 years ago now,but it still makes me happy that I cost him ££££s in commission.

Years ago I stopped to let a flock of sheep cross the road, the guy coming the other way...driving a jag, decided to slowly keep going, nudging the first sheep, at which point it hopped onto his bonnet, then roof and over his car...and the rest of the flock(at least 100) followed suit. I'll never forget the look on his face! 🐑 🐏 🐑 🤣🤣

so funny!! Reminds me of seeing a merc parked under a tree to keep it shady. A herd of goats were standing on the roof to eat the leaves!

Feckedupbundle · 06/04/2024 12:01

As a sheep farmer,I love the sheep one. We occasionally have to move a flock a million down the road, and I can just imagine this. An adult sheep weighs around 100 kg,so that's a lot of damage.
And thank you, OP for behaving courteously,it is appreciated.

I had a 3work trip to New York. Originally it was 2 arseholes colleagues and not me, but our boss added me on, enraging the 2 arseholes colleagues.

They froze me out of all discussions, wouldn't tell me their travel plans (I only knew from the nice lady who booked such things, who kindly told me) and I ended up on different flights and in a different hotel. Arseholes.

They skived off most of the work and left it all to me, and on the last day (only time I saw them) I said to them at lunchtime that I expected they would be leaving soon to make sure they caught their (rather early) flight home.

Arsehole no1 said "Oh ffs, Fromage, I think we can manage to make our way back to JFK fgs!"

I smiled and said "Of course you can" and walked away with my dignity, as Arsehole 1 continued to bitch about me loudly to Arsehole 2, who did seem a bit embarrassed about it all.

Later I saw them in JFK, apparently having indeed missed their flight and desperately trying to get on something standby. Good.

I was not surprised at this at all.

Partly because I knew they'd not left enough time to get back to their hotel, and then to the airport.

But mostly because I knew their return flight was from Newark.

Brilliant!

My brother found out he would be a dad at 19. It was a shock but our family are supportive and my parents were a huge help. My cousin got into an argument with my mum and told her she was a failure as a parent for letting her son get someone "knocked up" so young. That she should be embarrassed that she had let him down.
Less than a year later his 15 year old daughter came home pregnant.

My nephew is a wonderful, smart and happy young man and very loved.
My cousins daughter went on to marry and have another child with the baby's dad, put herself through uni to become a midwife and is lovely women and happily settled.

Last I heard of her dad was he was arrested for bare knuckle boxing a well known traveller in our area. His daughter has nothing to do with him. My family have nothing to do with him, everybody else is happy with their life choices.
