WTF? How did this happen? 🤣

I found this in a packet of Andrex toilet rolls.
It's only half the width of the other rolls in the pack.

I don't fancy trying to use it.

I worked in a paper mill as a student, so I'll be dull and answer the question properly!

Its the cut off end of a roll, toilet paper is made in a band about 6 foot wide, which is perforated and rolled onto a long paper tube about 6 foot 4 inches long.

The resulting long roll is then rotated against a set of razor sharp blades that splits it into loads of normal size loo rolls, at either end the scruffy end bit with the sticking out bit of tube gets chopped off and pulped.

In your case one of those ends has got in with the finished rolls and gone down the chute to be packed. it probably caught on the cutter and jumped into the chute rather than falling away.

Such catching is caused by the cutter blades getting blunt.

Well that genuine knowledge killed the thread then 😂

PeaPalRIDriots · 03/04/2024 22:56

Could have been worse - could have been shouted by Gregg Wallace over the noise in a factory.
Thanks @PropertyManager Another thing MN has taught me!

When a mummy toilet roll and a daddy toilet roll love each other very much...

notprincehamlet · 03/04/2024 23:52

Because it's less than two inches across
Floss?

I was about to shut my phone off and go to bed but I'm glad I read this first. High value mumsnettery! Love learning something new on here

If anyone would like the chance to win a year's free supply of toilet paper:

www.bowelcanceruk.org.uk/support-us/bowel-cancer-awareness-month/quiz/

Note from the T&C's that you have to accept delivery of all 252 rolls at once (???) and you have no choice as to the colour/variant. 252 rolls of coconut fresh anyone?

@PropertyManager how do they put the smell and the quilting in toilet paper?

@PropertyManager Ahhh - the little runt loo roll escaped and ran for the hills - bless its cotton socks. 😂

Ha! So Kimberly-Clark emailed me and told me that they were posting me a gift voucher.
I was so excited!
Then it arrived.

£2. A measly two quid off.

I'm almost tempted to stop buying Andrex in protest.

Yes!

I also need to do a ME NOW picture.

Along with The Court which always seems to be obligatory in a Take a Break article.
