Was your gut instinct in pregnancy about whether you were having a boy or a girl correct?

Just interested.

Keep having dreams of one gender - not sure if it means anything!

We’d be happy with either.

I did not know that about statistics. I mentioned in a post up thread that my first DS died shortly after birth. He had renal pelvic dilation in both kidneys which caused an array of issues. He was not compatible with life and was born at 23 weeks. I didnt know it was more common for boys to have problems though. Mind you I had him 11 years ago and was only 21, so it was a long time ago

I’m so sorry for your loss. 11 years isn’t that long when it comes to baby loss.
My daughter is 18 now and even though I was lucky enough to bring her home, the sounds and the beeping of the machines are still there. It’s a traumatic experience.

Nope wrong both times!

Liveanlearn · 07/04/2024 20:06

Guessed right both times. No dreams about it. Although weirdly only had a girls name picked out for the boy! No names picked for the girl....

No, I thought boy with first and it was a girl.

2nd I never had any instinct and it was another girl.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 07/04/2024 20:08

1 - predicted boy and had DD1
2 - predicted boy and had DD2
3 - predicted girl and had DS

So wrong every time.

Poppyfun1 · 07/04/2024 20:13

3 pregnancies. Knew each gender. Girl, boy, boy. Wasn’t wrong xx

Abbyant · 07/04/2024 20:36

My family calls it my sixth sense because I knew exactly what my 2 dc would be as well as what my sisters baby would be and my pregnancy symptoms were exactly like what the old wives tales say, I was sicker with my dd ,had pregnancy mask and carried high. with ds I got very big very early, carried really low and wasn’t as ill.

Rainbowshit · 07/04/2024 20:43

Yes I was right both times.

DH mistook the umbilical cord for a penis with DD and when he said "it's a boy" I said "no it's a girl" as I was so sure even though I could t see. I was right.

Swanfeet · 07/04/2024 20:44

Nope! I had vivid dreams during my first pregnancy, always a girl in the dreams. Had our scan and of course it was a boy! 😆

Noicant · 07/04/2024 20:46

Yeah but then I always saw myself with a girl rather than a boy, so it’s probably just confirmation bias. But I “KNEW” I was having a girl.

Algarythmnmadness · 07/04/2024 20:53

I have non identical twins. We didn’t find out what we were having.

the only thing I knew was that I could not for the life of me decide on boys names. I massively struggled. But girls names were a bit easier although I didn’t absolutely decide on 2 girls names until a few days before they arrived.

I had 2 girls - not sure if that’s a sign or a gut feeling etc.

PatchworkElmer · 07/04/2024 21:00

I was absolutely adamant from very early on, to the point I got cross with DH for wasting time deciding on names for the other sex. It was only when I was admitted to hospital in labour and the midwife taking baby’s heart rate said she guessed the baby would be the other sex that I really entertained “oh, I might not be getting what I’m expecting here” 😂

Emmz1510 · 07/04/2024 21:13

Yes, mine was (girl)

TeaPleaseX · 07/04/2024 21:18

Every time. The first time I thought it was a boy and the next night I had a dream of being given this baby girl who had blonde curly hair and green eyes and she was really pale. And I knew the next day she was a girl.
She was born with blonde curly hair and green eyes and white looking. She's now the same but extremely tanned.

spottydinosaur · 07/04/2024 21:20

Yes right both times.

DC1 everyone told me it would be a boy but I'd a feeling it would be a girl & I was right.

DC2 I was so sure it would be a boy I bought boy baby grows & took them to the hospital. Very similar pregnancy just an over riding gut feeling! I only brought boy & neutral baby grows to the hospital & I used every one of them as he peed over them all!

Clevs · 07/04/2024 21:25

I didn't have an instinct but everyone told me I was having a boy and I did.

Roseinbloom20 · 07/04/2024 21:37

I was right every time:
1st boy (100% knew)
2nd girl - knew it but sadly ended late term
3rd boy - knew (he's fine and amazing)

Not to derail the thread but with DS1 I knew everything would be ok, and it was. With DD I had a horrible feeling that something wasn't quite right and unfortunately I was right as we lost her. Then with DS2 even though I was on edge pretty much the whole pregnancy I knew he was a "he" and he is and was perfect 🤗

Mh67 · 07/04/2024 21:37

Not dreams but I just knew first was a boy and second a girl. I don't know why it was just a gut feeling

Sjh15 · 07/04/2024 21:38

Nope I was completely wrong!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 07/04/2024 21:51

I was half right! Was expecting twins and although I wanted a girl, all the way through I was convinced it was two boys. Then when the first one was born she was a girl. I didn't doubt for a nanosecond that the second one would be a boy, and he was.
Your body knows the sex - you have to listen to your gut and most of the time it'll be right. I bet it's about 70/30 that women rightly guess the sex.

LanaL · 08/04/2024 07:36

With my eldest and youngest they were the only times I felt certain . My eldest , I was right . My youngest - I was convinced he would be a girl and even named him whilst in my tummy but no , he was a boy ! Thankfully I found out at my scan and hadn’t been out getting girls clothes 🤣

imnotthatkindofmum · 08/04/2024 07:39

My gut instinct was correct. My dreams were not!

Dreamt about having a boy several times. I have 3 girls.

I was so confident about having a girl the 3rd time that I nodded and smiled when my husband suggested a ridiculous boys name.
