Was your gut instinct in pregnancy about whether you were having a boy or a girl correct?

Just interested.

Keep having dreams of one gender - not sure if it means anything!

We’d be happy with either.

Nope.

I think it’s very common for women to ‘intuitively feel’ that they’re having a girl. This is often because the woman simply doesn’t know much about boys and can’t picture it. On the other hand a woman who grew up with lots of brothers may assume she’ll have a boy.

FluffMagnet · 03/04/2024 21:14

Didn't find out until birth each time. DC1 - utterly wrong (was very confused when they handed her to me). DC2 I had no idea and also couldn't care less either way. It was very weird after obsessing over the sex with DC1.

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 03/04/2024 21:16

Yes, but there are no girls in my husband's family in the past 4 generations so I was pretty sure it would be boys!

Yes, was right both times. I wasn’t convinced I was right at the time, but I do think there was something subconscious as I only focused on names for one sex (the right one) each time.

Monkeybusiness09 · 03/04/2024 21:17

Yes I was right on all 3. Everybody thought I was having a boy on first pregnancy, I had a girl, my sister even tried to get me to buy a blue baby gro. I then had a girl and a boy and knew their sex.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 03/04/2024 21:18

Yes. I thought my successful pregnancy was a girl and she was. I also think my unsuccessful pregnancy was a boy but we won't obviously get to know whether or not I was right.

Louoby · 03/04/2024 21:23

1st baby - gut instinct was correct. 2nd baby literally had know idea and 3rd baby - gut instinct was correct. All three of mine are same gender lol

SnacksToTheMax · 03/04/2024 21:26

Yes, both times (girls) even though everyone insisted they were “boy bumps”. Didn’t find out the sex until birth both times.

midlifepisces · 03/04/2024 21:27

Yes

Catsinaflat · 03/04/2024 21:31

3/3 times I was right!

Dacadactyl · 03/04/2024 21:32

Didn't know with my first.

Knew with my second that he was a boy. I just felt totally different.

Butterflysunshine01 · 03/04/2024 21:48

I had three dreams early on , all of which were of a baby girl. Had no preference, just thought I was psychic lol. Found out defo boy 20 week scan haha.

Allmarbleslost · 03/04/2024 21:55

I knew with dd1 with absolute certainty. DC 2 was also a girl but I had no inkling either way.

Inyourwildestdreams · 03/04/2024 21:56

I had the clearest dream I’ve ever had in my life about me having a little boy 😅 it’s actually what made me take a pregnancy test. The dream was that vivid.

The test was positive and that little boy is now very real 🙈😅

I was so confident about who he was that I referred to him as a boy all pregnancy and it didn’t once cross my mind to find out the sex 😂 DH was the complete opposite and convinced it was a girl.

DH announced the sex when he was born and was so shocked shouting “it’s a boy!” 🙈😂 I was like 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 “I know!” 😂

HaggisHhahaha · 03/04/2024 21:58

had very strong gut feelings

was wrong 2 out of 3 😆

LauderSyme · 03/04/2024 22:11

From the moment I knew I was pregnant my strong gut instinct said I was having a boy. But everyone said I was carrying a girl, based on all the usual old wives tales. So then I really didn't know.

I obsessively did baby's sex questionnaires. I remember one of the questions was 'which direction does your head point to when you lie in bed?' Like, what?!

I had a boy.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 03/04/2024 22:24

Both times I was convinced they were boys and they were. I just always referred to them as he without really thinking about it. Didn't find out about DS1 till he was born but found out DS2 was a boy at my scan.
Just couldn't seem to picture myself with a girl to be honest - though it would have been fine if either had been a girl though she'd never have had French plaits for school cos I can't do them!

Mindovermatter247 · 03/04/2024 22:31

I didn’t really have tell tale signs that every one talks about, I guessed both of mine correctly, it was just gut instinct at the time.. however when I look back on it now, DS pregnancy was completely symptom free… dd however, I had a bad back, although had no morning sickness, had this intense feeling.. can’t really explain, but it was different.

Cloverforever · 03/04/2024 22:48

Yes for my first and utterly wrong for my second. We hadn't even thought about girl names for my second and I kept asking the midwife if she was sure - even after passing me said wriggling newborn.

SallyWD · 03/04/2024 22:54

I really had no idea either time. The people I know who had a strong gut instinct were wrong!

pambeesleyhalpert · 03/04/2024 23:01

I had a little girl this morning. I was convinced she was a boy. I have a girl already, my bump was different, pregnancy was different. I just felt like we were having a boy. I'm still shocked!

Pickled21 · 03/04/2024 23:04

I was right with all 3. I always thought I would have a girl first and I did. When pregnant with ds I dreamt of a teenage boy coming in from football practice and calling me mum. I never saw his face but i knew he was mine. With my dd2 I felt she was a girl and before the 20 week scan I put my hand on bump and asked if she was my son or dd. She kicked on dd. At the scan I was asked if I had an inkling and I told the sonographer the story and that it was my dd. She smiled and said mothers instinct is definitely right in this case. I cried buckets. I've never had a gender preference but dd1 was so hopeful for a dsis and was overjoyed when we told her.

westcountrywoman · 03/04/2024 23:36

Yes - for both DC (one of each).

IncompleteSenten · 03/04/2024 23:47

No. First time I assumed I was having a girl though. Girls run very heavily in both families.
I was wrong.

Second time I was hoping for another boy but I wasn't feeling anything that time either.

Sparklybutold · 03/04/2024 23:47

Yes, both times.
