Counting the days to our holidays this year.
Going to Gran Canaria for a bit of early sun in two weeks then Greece in September
I can't wait and counting the days.
Where is everyone going this year ?

Long weekend UK break later this month
Long weekend in Ireland in July
A week in Cyprus in October

I would have loved to go to the Paris Olympics, we looked into it but it was too expensive sadly.

Haven’t booked anything yet (waiting for bonus in May) but we are thinking either Croatia or Greece in the summer holidays. Will also visit DB in Utrecht. We did our first holiday abroad as a family (DS was 7) last year to Lake Garda and it was amazing. The memories are still keeping me going 9 months later so can’t wait for this year.

CommeIlFaut · 04/04/2024 07:27

We had a weekend in Geneva and a week skiing in France in Feb.
Ireland for a family holiday next week

DD and I are off to Paris in June
Family holiday to British Columbia in July
DS and I are off to Helsinki/Tallin in August
Athens with the teens in October half term

I love travel and it’s how we spend our spare money. I also don’t work in the school holidays. Vowed never again to spend more than a long weekend on a UK holiday after several weeks of Covid-era holiday cottages. And we also didn’t holiday abroad for five years when the kids were small.

A week in North Devon next month. Possibly a week at Potters resort 5 Lakes in September, and we may go away for a few days after Christmas. I would also like to go to the Channel Islands. We can't go by air any more, I have to stay out of the sun and DH has to avoid extremes of heat and cold, so no holidays abroad at the moment.

Once our very elderly cat has died we will have a BIG holiday - perhaps a river cruise, but we're not booking anything yet as we would rather still have her around!

Milan-Verona-Lake Garda-Innsbruck 12 Night hand curated by me as travel agent. Cheap flights into milan and air bnb & trains for the rest.
The teens enjoy packing light and sightseeing rather than pools and beach. I however would happily sit by the beach so will have to throw myself into Lake Garda.

valensiwalensi · 04/04/2024 07:34

Praia Da Luz - first holiday since 2019 and first time on a plane for DD4. (No, I didn’t realise where it was until we booked it!)

CountryShepherd · 04/04/2024 07:40

Had a week on Skye in a tiny lochside house with stunning views in March. Got a week in Tuscany in July. First time DD (16) will have flown, and only because its post exams and pre school holidays! Its usually a road trip - she's delighted!

London now over Easter hols, then Slovenia and Northern Italy in summer, plus long weekend in cottage in Yorkshire. Portugal in October with the wider family.

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 04/04/2024 07:41

@OrangeBlossom28 that sounds glorious. Have you done that drive before and if so is it straight forward, or hairy tight windy roads?

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 04/04/2024 07:42

@valensiwalensi how can you not kmow the destination until booking?

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 04/04/2024 07:43

@ilovebagpuss again that sounds amazing.

What would rough costs of the rains be and air b and b?

As in, I didn’t realise why I knew the name until after (It’s where Maddie McCann went missing).

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 04/04/2024 07:48

Oh!

Switzerland
Turkey
Japan
China
Cyprus
Belgium
Mexico
Greece

I’m just being nosy but how do you fit it in?

Overtheatlantic · 04/04/2024 07:55

Florence in a couple of weeks, Amsterdam in July, Munich in late September. We usually only go for 5 nights as I don’t like to be separated from DCat for any longer.

Musiclover234 · 04/04/2024 07:58

We have a trip to the Lakes. Then a Krakow city break.

We usually do a night or two hotel stay too if we have the cash! Helps to break up the year a bit. Bit harder with COL these days!

I don’t work, my DC are grown up so I am making the most of these years where I have my health and before (hopefully) DGC come along.

I just realised I forgot to put New York on my list.

OrangeBlossom28 · 04/04/2024 08:10

@EatenEasterChocsAlready We've not been to the east side of France before, all our other holidays have been Pitou Charante, Brittany or Garonne and Lot areas.
The hairy drive looks like the Antibes to Embrum part of the journey through the Alps which should be glorious. It's our first holiday without the DDs and we're going in my Mini so a real road trip!

WonderingAboutBabies · 04/04/2024 09:27

Cornwall for a week in May, and a week in Crete in June.

We had three BIG holidays last year, so doing cheaper ones this year. (We did New York - 5 days, Mexico - 2 weeks, and Singapore/Bali - 3 weeks).

EatenEasterChocsAlready · 04/04/2024 09:27

@OrangeBlossom28 how exciting, a mini will be perfect anyway on tight road. I've been to antibes area which is glorious

OrangeBlossom28 · 04/04/2024 09:53

@EatenEasterChocsAlready We're staying in Roquefort-les-Pins so near to everything.

MumofSpud · 04/04/2024 09:56

Had a long weekend in Amsterdam earlier this year
Istanbul soon (1st time!)
Ireland - June - visiting family
Summer - want to somewhere long haul and keep changing mind!
