Counting the days to our holidays this year.
Going to Gran Canaria for a bit of early sun in two weeks then Greece in September
I can't wait and counting the days.

Off to Krakow on Friday for 5 nights, 1 week UK based not booked yet in July and 10 days Turkey in August. Then Disneyland Paris later this year. I work so lots of overtime to pay for our holidays. It is my favourite thing. So excited!

COL crisis hitting the middle classes hard eh? 😂😂

I’m confused how much annual leave some posters get 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

we have a week in Gran Canaria in the summer and I’m going to Dublin in October. Hoping the car hangs on for another year.

CitadelofRicks · 03/04/2024 19:20

Paris next month and then Mallorca in August. And then a trip to the canaries in December. Can’t wait! We might squeeze in an impromptu city break this month if work isn’t too busy

Milkydumplings · 03/04/2024 19:22

italy, New York, France.

Dibblydoodahdah · 03/04/2024 19:26

On holiday in Germany at the moment. Going to the U.S. (Washington and Virginia) in the summer.

ifonly4 · 03/04/2024 19:30

Three nights Liverpool.

Four nights camping in Wales with three others couples.

Simple, but still looking forward to them.

Pasithean · 03/04/2024 19:33

Nowhere for 14 years. Too sick to travel

FizzyStream · 03/04/2024 19:59

Re pp wondering about annual leave. I get 33 days per year plus BH and buy an extra couple of weeks out of my salary; mainly to cover school holidays as DH only gets 20 days plus BH.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 03/04/2024 20:02

India in the summer then probably Spain in October - not booked yet but will get a fly and flop for sure.
To answer the question about annual leave I get 25 days plus Bank Holidays then I salary sacrifice to buy another 5. I work a few weekend days from October to February too and can bank them to use for holiday too.

JMSA · 03/04/2024 20:24

Sicily in July, with my dad and daughters. I love them all dearly, but one week will be ample Grin

reluctantbrit · 03/04/2024 20:37

France and Belgium in May half-term
5 days Berlin and 1 week Bavaria in August

Maybe a short city break in October, depending when DD's mocks are.

Ilovelurchers · 03/04/2024 20:43

So far, got 5 nights in Llandudno, long weekend with a friend in Weston Super Mare, theatre break in London. There might be some camper van trips as well hopefully.....

We do go away a lot but we hardly spend money on anything else much, and we do travel cheaply. And we never fly anywhere because of the impact on the environment - not saying we never will again ever, but I would need it to be an important trip, and somewhere we were going to be for quite a while, to justify it to myself. ( Not implying I am perfect in terms of carbon footprint - far from it- it's just one step we have decided to take).

Tisfortired · 03/04/2024 20:46

Majorca in June for 10 days. We are getting married two days before so technically a honeymoon but we will be bringing DC with us 😃

Im hoping that we can get away for a long weekend somewhere later in the year as a proper honeymoon just us two. The first place we went together was Prague to the Christmas markets in 2009 when we were 18 so I’d really like to go back as married grown ups with kids!

orangetriangle · 03/04/2024 20:54

Been to Potters 5 lakes for easter going Potters hopton in 4 weeks then caravan weekend in June and a cruise in July

troppibambini6 · 03/04/2024 20:59

Turkey in May for a week, glamping I. The Cotswolds and Spain for two weeks in the summer. Would like to try and get away in October too but not booked anything yet.

EasyPeelings · 03/04/2024 21:03

We're going to the south coast for a week with the grandchildren. Staying in a ridiculously expensive but nice house near the sea.
I worked out that we could have got flights to Spain, accommodation, car hire, food, fuel and the whole shebang for DH and me for 14 days for less than the cost of just the UK house rental for 7 nights! Prices here are outrageous!

FloatyBoaty · 03/04/2024 21:08

Have scraped together enough money for a cheap week in Portugal with DS in the school hols. His first “abroad” holiday.

Flat/pet sitting for a week for a uni friend in Edinburgh in summer. We do this every year and turn it into a cheap holiday as only pay for travel.

Possibly also a long weekend at a friends house in France later in the year. Again, only have to pay travel, and we’ll chip in for food. It’s on the coast so another beachy hol.

I know we sound very spoilt, but I do make lots of sacrifices to make things like this happen (can’t remember the last time I bought new clothes!), and have some lovely generous friends.

Went to Valencia in January. Just back from Gran Canaria. Going to Palma in May and Dubrovnik in October. Want some sun in September but not sure where yet.

What was Valencia like in January? We have been thinking of going during February half term as it's a good time.ofnyesr for my husband to take holiday.

I know it won't be hot - but was it pleasant to wander round and sit in cafes etc?

FoxyLoxyLoo · 03/04/2024 21:12

Mexico in July, Greece at the beginning of September, Krakow in November, Tenerife the first week in January. We have a few weekends away booked as we have a couple of weddings to attend and we always do the Edinburgh markets at Christmas.

Edited to add we don’t get annual leave as we work every day of the week so make the most of the time off we do have.

BakewellGin1 · 03/04/2024 21:28

Haven in May Fri to Mon
Camping holiday in June Fri to Mon
Turkey for 2 weeks in July
Cumbria for New Year Break

Youngest is still excitable enough to love a camping/glamping/caravan break so I'm debating a night or two just us in the Summer

PurpleChrayn · 03/04/2024 21:30

Five nights in Porthmadog! Can't wait.

I used to go there as a child, and I love taking my kids there.

Kalettesarethebest · 03/04/2024 21:30

Iceland, v soon. I'm not one for beach holidays!

Icequeen01 · 03/04/2024 21:33

We are off to Amsterdam on Monday for a 5 day mini break which I am looking forward to but a bloody train strike on Monday has meant we have had to add on a night in London on Sunday night which I would have preferred not to have done.

We also have10 days booked in Crete in August. We went to Crete last year and DS24 came along so we had a villa with a pool which was lovely. DS not coming this year so we are going back to the same area but this time staying in a hotel we saw. Looking forward to it but even though DS is an adult now I always miss him when he doesn't come.

We went there in October for a few days and stayed in a lovely little AirBnB right next to the harbour. It was lovely as I had never been to Wales. Hoping to go back at some point.

Going to Florida in June. Counting down the weeks!
